New Site+video+been Inked.......chris Akrigg.com
shamus replied to John Shrewsbury's topic in Videos
he has such an imaginative outlook. and to an extent a bullheaded nature, he see's a line it will happen... eventually, stacks and all. love the way he just does whats fun for him, and rinses everything -
mint riding, my group of ridin buds are about the same level and my front moves are nowhere near as flicky!! on another note, we just discovered a local area to make a similar set-up was your 'customised pallets' much trouble to make? the angled one made of several bits looks well sturdy!! oh, are the slanted palettes bound together at all? seemed really solid!

hopefully otherwise, it'll return to my garage to gather dust for a while longer only thing i can think of is the clearance for your maggy, should clear the chainstays fine. only other thing i can suggest is if it doesn't fit then go for a gigapipe, 68 x 128mm

There have been topics like this before, a search will probably help you more then i can As for the lacing- it is physically possible however it is quite tricky and easy to mess-up/ hard to get nice even tension. I wouild suggest replacing your hub, if the rim is the new part or vice-versa. as Alex mentioned you may also need to get different spoke lengths, which no spoke calculator will be set up to calculate. this means trial and error is needed and that makes it more hassle then its worth.

Links/photos Of Concept Bikes Needed(not Just Trials)
shamus replied to CurtisRider's topic in Trials Chat
the old strumey archers gear systems (planeterial???? not sure) which are now being used in the truvativ internal gear sytem in their german design (it was an MBUK feature maybe just before christmas??) not sure if tahts helpful or not but it is a free bump if it wasn't! -
Not wanting to get dragged in at all with this. opinions are opinions, state them or keep them to yourselves it makes no difference. While i read through i felt myself wondering if everyone here still respects Martyn Ashton and Hans Rey etc? They brought the sport to the masses. Without their influence on the sport we wouldn't be on here arguing over an individuals ability and direction of progression. (and trying to make direct comparisons between different styles/people) Is there a reason to actively dislike someone you may have never met? It seems everyone who has met the chap agrees he is a great ambassador for the sport (maybe likening him with ryan leech in canada?) He seems quite eloquent and is a suitable level headed person perhaps to take over the martyns mantle in my opinion If you disagree with my opinion thats fine, your welcome to think something else, i don't begrudge anyone the right to think and say something different to my opinion I just don't want to get drawn up into this (so if this infuriates someone please understand its just my opinion and should be treated as such not, as gospel), just felt that people are descending into a (perhaps jealous) arguement which isn't really representative of what trails-forum is about.

my 5 maybe 6 year old rear magura which was fitted by the LBS (because back then i wasn't as adept with bikes!) Only had to do a TPA bodge about 4 months ago, still on the original bleed, needs a longer hose to suit my new frame. but don't want to touch it while its so reilable and still GOOD! and i mean no flex spongy-ness or leaking anywhere

Its in 'mikes guide to validation' and the NMC sticky at the very top of the page - 'Announcement! - New members read this first!' i believe. Thats the best way to get youself to a suitable status to be able to buy and sell on TF. Although participating with valid and well thought through posts are your best bet.

vee forks damn forgot that, i'll have to change my forks to run my XTR, bought new disc ones (and 4 bolt (wooo )) pooey thats annoying, i love the geo of my echo forks but adapters and Vee's i have had bad experiences with! grr another thing i'm not a fan of is the wheel flex on my stock when i run disc. mayb its just because my build is whack or front maggy? anyone liking front magura's? I would prefer to run it on the 4 bolts without a booster for better hold, but will it crack the forks? (i like front wheel moves) cheers
-
BB7 out front, maggie on 4 bolt booster at the rear. Although i am contemplating forcing my mate to return my front XTR vee, it was amazing and all this disk malarky i'm unsure about to be honest the vee was so strong and snappy and dependable, my disc is constantly loosening the inner pad adjuster, its poo.

Orange Zero...rigid Or Forks?gears Or Single?
shamus replied to londonliam's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
the annoying thing with suspenders is the rebounding and loss of feel when trying to maintain balance/precision. fair enough if you can ride like that, but i'd personally go for some really tough rigids if its going to be a street bike and really light forks if its mainly trials, or a happy medium, who knows, you decide (said in Big Bro voice). i've always run rigid (only really had trials/bmx/rigid street slag) -
i've heard of some MTB DIY kits that basically mean you: 1 split an innertube in half 2 insert the valve in the rim as usual 3 fit your tyre with the innertube sticking out between the tyre and the rim 4 add the sealant stuff and inflate 5 trim the excess tube off. - hey presto jobs a goodun and seeing as the latex is between the tube and trye rather then just tape and tyre, if you ran a rim tape as well would it be possible on drilled rims? i know people use this on standard rims without special tape or anything. i know you wouldn't save much weight in terms of removing the tube really but it would be unpinchable

if i ride on my own i find i go flat out for a short period of time, tryin big stuff and complicated things, then i get tired and just do fun stuff from then on i normally ride with a mate who is currently progressin faster then me, which i'm findin frustrating as well as inspiring!! ah well but yeah most times i'm out with a mate or two, good fun and works well, there is a good balance of banter and bails and ..........and something else beginning with b

The scene in plymouth is pretty strong, you'll find some people out most days and the spots are pretty cool and varied!- something for everyone

I was the king of punctures. now i religiously run dual ply/ really thick sidewalls along with a paneracer super DH tube (think i got it at CRC.) Now I havent punctured for as long as i remember. This means that I no longer worry about punctures and can, instead, enjoy the ride, which is what its all about. But yeah stop being a basher if you can help it. Also when you are at a happy PSI, wang another couple in for safe gaurding!

i bet loads of people have had this, stood around, haven't ridden for a few minutes, go to ride away and pop, hissssssssssssss, flat tyre. no glass/thorns/nails just a magical flat tyre.....brilliant

Just pick up a certain southcoast cornish seafront and put it nearer my house. that would be sick!

beware letting the callous build up too much, i have a problem where my callouses get too big. After a while they can grow up to and over the joints (on both the palm and on the brake finger, where the skin is thin) and this hurts if you ever have them get suddenly very sore, i'd say ease off. I ignored the signs a few times and on occasions, the next time i checked my hands, i had huge bloodblisters under the callous. When they split, they bled everywere. shortly after, my tough bombproof callous, just fell off! much to my annoyance and this put me out until i had worn in the raw skin underneath. I'd usually say just crack on but i'd also say in general to listen to your body, it hurts for a reason!

That is a fair comment but its already in the highway code and theory test. but its only something along the lines of 'steer into the skid' which is utterly useless. I think the main fault is in peoples outlook, they expect the road to be gritted, but are wary at first, as they drive along the main drags they get lulled into a false sense of security. Next thing you know they are driving as fast as they would normally, paying as little attention as usual (or not driving to the conditions, however you would like to word it). They hit an icy patch/ brake as hard as normal (which in less grip) results in a crash. then they blame the conditions. I bet the rate of crashing in snowy countries (canada/norway etc) isn't as high as in britain during the 2 days of snow we get in a year. I went out with a mate looking for snow the other day. We found a road on the moors so slippery that to get back we just turned the car around on the spot by pushing. but we didnt crash

thats worrying then, i'm running a stop gap tyre (nokian gazza 2.3") on the back of my pure. and that almost rubs! doesn't look like i'll ever fit one of them in my frame then! does anyone have an idea of a good tyre that will squeeze in? the bb yoke seems really narrow to me sorry for the thread hijack
-
i got one from a mission reefer which should fit. its pretty much based around the t raptors of old i believe if you don't have any succes then PM me

get on! this competition push is seeing some sick evolution in onza lines. soon they will be awesome as well as affordable! with very skilled and demanding riders on the team like ben and anderi the potential for some brilliant parts/frames is excellent (i mean demanding in terms of wanting the best out of their bikes and themselves not that they are demanding people)) will we be treated to a bike picture soon? are the production graphics going to be on savage's bike? nice one for ben and onza! good luck this season!

are they higher then rage bars? i'm running rage bars and although they aren't massively wide they are perfectly fine once given time to bed in. i think they have a 2inch rise? maybe more? either way seem huge at first but wear in loverly lol
