Some lovely photos there.

Err, not in my experiance of them. Have a few dead ones here that suggest otherwise. Yet my shimano actually lived... and still lives on in another wheel on the origional freehub. Different people put different stresses I suppose. Its just funny that it took more of a beating. Any my king hasn't skipped a beat either. All im trying to say is that the floppy alxe just lets the ratchet get eaten in trials especially for a heavier person like myself. Therefore don't think the servicing costs are appropiately set for the xc/mono/bulb
-
Point I really want to say is the only good thing was the warranty. I mean, shimano's last as long, engage nearly as quick and are cheaper. Just the fact that hope fixed thier free rather than buying a £25 shimano freehub.
-
Alex has always been great to deal with, just give him a chance maybe?
-
Are you going to tell me my hopes broke because I didn't service them and it wasn't because the freehub chewed the shit out of the ratched ring. I mean I can make the freehub touch the ratchet ring with my bare hands on a hope hub. So unless you can PROVE that the lack of servicing causes it then I would stop writing shite just for the sake of it.
-
Its the fact that their hubs (xc/mono/bulb) don't last very long at all. With my king, I will gladly pay to have it fixed should it break as it doesn't just shit itself in the first few months of ownership. I have had many hope hubs and everyone of them have died a similar death. Some run standard, some run with light oil etc but all of them have ripped the ratchet ring out with the freehub flexing to hit it! To me this was a problem that hope have now made an effort to solve with the pro2t giving it more supportive bearings in better places. This to me means that they recognise that the mono/xc design is shit for trials and now they plan to make money out of it. I think the reasoning for this little change isn't as poverty stricken as its made out, but an effort to make people weigh up the options when they come to 'hub breaking' time. Should I get my mono serviced for £35 (not for off the price of the hub new £76ish) or do I buy a hope pro2t... Call me names if you think Im wrong but seeing as its really the trials market sucking the shit out of the warranty system I think hope have seen a way to weed out the xc and sell more pro2t's. ** Awaits a load of shit from all people who are closely related to Hope **

Think its about time they done it but at the same time I can see beginners with shimano's again as they can't afford to fix thier hope WHEN it decides to give up. Never sent anything back to hope, not a fan of warranty scrounging. Have a good few hope carcus's laying about! Edit: Its not really good publicity is it... Hopes usually free aftercare was what made people buy to be honest.

Lol, Im sorry. Just a bit of a beginner, just so far all my best photo's have been with manual mode. Suppose I should listen to the veterans. Will experiment with the auto/predefined modes soon and report my findings in my thread. Sorry for stealing your dave!
-
Ive a selection of pictures here taken at the same angle in various modes... Auto is by far the worst.
-
Mr F-stop... I really think your over estimate the fuji s5600... Its not on par with the settings your canon probably has. Did you look at the pic of the tower I took with auto, it was pish. Just like every other photo it takes in auto.
-
^^ you summed up what I meant
-
I assure you, auto mode is complete bollocks. Have some pics of the tower taken in auto and its terrible. Whats wrong with using manual mode? Its the only way to learn isn't it? I felt that lack of adjustability was reason for buying a new camera. The photo's were resized using photocleaner but not small enough to be on screen. Here is a picture of the auto mode of the tower. I think its A LOT worse, will let you decide though. The robin one was taken the week after christmas, first week with a 'proper' camera to me. Tower was taken yesterday and I would like to think I have improved consideribly since then. I have learnt quite a bit in this thread and all you guys have been real helpful! As far as having a light meter, I don't but I do my best to guage the light and surroundings and set the settings to what I think and Im never usually TOO far off. If its something that isn't going to move I take a few test shots and guage as best I can on my little LCD screen what looks right to me. I would have stuck with my little coolpix if I thought I could have take pictures as good as the ones I am taking now. I simply couldn't and had no control over what it would take at all. Hence the love of manual mode. This image has not been photoshopped in anyway to prove a fictional point lol. Only resized in photocleaner.

Being a frint wheel drive car your tyres are probably more knackered at the front than the rear (mine are anyway) so you would probably experiance balls loads of uninspiring understeer. If you want to get rid of an old set, swap them round from back of car to front. Then it may become a bit tail happy with tyres that aren't worn right to suit the rear sus. Swings and round abouts. If you plan on doing it more than once get a cheap set of wheels that can take a decently wide tyre and buy some good quality road tyres for racing.

Was out today with stephen, got a few. Will post them up later as Im off out now!

Thats amazing Rob! Need to learn some of that trickery! Thanks
-
Read my post please. Not wanting to ruin this thread.

Cheers all. The robin I was pretty close, probably around 10 feet away. Was zoomed in a bit. The tower is a hard one to get in shot as that tower sits on a mount not 20 feet from a clif edge haha. Have some other that show a bit more sceneary but more manmade stuff in the shot than I would like. Hopefully can get some impressive photo's now with these tips.

Cheers Charel and Adds. Made a mistake, the camera was on f8 for the tower one. Think it was around f3.2 for the bird. Would a higher ISO make mush difference to the quality?
-
Bird was brightened a bit in photoshop. Other one hasn't been cropped or anyting. The bird was taken in a dark bush. I had apparature open f8, shutter speed around 50 and iso 200. Don't know how I could have made it brighter without losing quality, thats what I am keep to learn. Edit: PS using a fuji s5600 so any tips from the f-stop/rob etc would need to be able to be done on this camera. Thanks

Here are two pictures I have taken since christmas when I got my camera. I would like to know what I could have done when taking the picture (not on the computer) to improve the images. ALL comments welcome, bad and good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/Bri...bin2smalltf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/Brisa/DSCF1070tf.jpg Links for now until i learn how to resize...

Doesn't apply to you really but our local track, Kirkistown (NI) offers insurance on the day. Doesn't cost that much. Be foolish not to take it if its offered.

I know what you mean, I have not been on the bike in a month or so and last night took it to work to give it a service and set everything up. On the way out I was playing on some pallets and the rest of the people were astounded at the level of control and balls it would take to do that. I am not a very good rider to start with and with a month off the bike... even worse than usual. But when you think of the skills that you work to find in the beginning and the level of riding your at now it makes you think your not so bad afterall. Trials as a sport seems a lot more technique involved than most sports. I shoot compeititily and once you have mastered a few small basics its just refining the technique. Trials you are constantly learning new stuff. More than canbe said for football/rugby/running and other common market sports.

From the votes it seems people are picking the underdog with regards to f-stop junkies work. Some top pictures by the way!
