  1. Ah, sorry, missed that. Just been thinking of putting some very short travel sus forks on my trials bike and was going to ask you how you found them. Good luck with the strip down. If you need new oil and find that mountain bike sus fork oil is really expensive, try motorbike suspension oil, tends to be cheaper.
  2. Its always worth getting the service manual and pulling them apart and having a look, if nothing else you learn a bit about the forks. Out of interest are you using these on a trials bike?
  3. Hi, I dont know the RS Tora shocks personally but from what I know about sus forks I'd say that the air cartridge is in the left leg, the damping one in the right. Left leg only has air pressure adjust, maybe negative air pressure too but I wouldnt think that fork would have that feature. If the right leg compression adjuster is spinning its probably got a fault with the damping which could effect rebound, compression and lockout depending on what it has. Is there any more writing on the forks - like RLC, RC2 etc or a year? If you can identify the fork then have a look on the Rockshocks website for a manual http://www.sram.com/service/rockshox/7,105 Normally problems withe the damping cart is hard to fix yourself so try TF tuned shocks http://www.tftunedshox.com/ The guys wear headsets when they service shocks to ring them up ad they'll chat to you all day while they work. Can be expensive to get shocks serviced, possibly more than a Tora is worth Good luck

    Where can you get Fuse knee/shinpads in the uk? I like the look of some of their shin+ankle combo pads but can't find them for sale on the internet. Ps Sorry for the hijack.

    Brakes

    I've never ridden brakeless but I was doing a bit of dirt jumping on my mountain bike recently and had no need for brakes where I was riding so death gripped with all fingers on the bars. It felt horrible and I was all over the place! I went straight back to three fingers on the bars and one on the brake and felt fine. I figure its just what you're used to.
  6. Hi, I was at both the main woodfest last year and the tarty days held the week after. Tarty days was awesome, just loads of people hanging around and chillin in a field. Tagging it on to woodfest proper will be awesome, if you want to just play on the private arena then thats cool, it'll be just like last years tarty days with a big festival next door. If you want a bit more depth to your weekend then there will be a big festival next door! Winner. It sounds like Matt and Adam have listened to the feedback from last year and are going to a lot of effort to get lots more smaller obstacles to cater for everyones abilities. Last years setup was left over from the previous weeks demos so needed to be big as professional riders were on it to impress the public at the festival. This year I've heard talk of lorry loads of pallets and a ton of half round plastic box type things so I think there will be loads of scope. Ali, I love the idea of a quarter, I'd be half tempted to make one myself on site the day before! Lookin forward to it, Skinny
  7. Hi guys, I'm going to be working in Northwood for a few weeks and fancy taking my bike. I ride trials but more the streety side of things. I'm from North Wales where we have a pretty poor selection of skate parks and dirt/bmx tracks so am thinking London must have a good rack of these to ride. Can anyone recommend anything like this in the Northwood area? Lit at night would be good as I wont be riding during the day cos of work. Cheers in advance, Skinny
  8. Cheers for the replies, I'll try some loctite and cross the bridge of undoing it when I have to. I had a look on Tarty and almost all of their crank bolts have loctite blue on while some of the BB threads had loctite red/purple on. So seems like its a usually done thing. Skinny
  9. Hi, my BB keeps coming loose in the frame. I've tightened it up and couple of times now but its happened a third time. I can't remember how I fitted the BB but I suspect I used some anti sieze grease in there which I suspect is causing the problem. I had a BB sieze into a frame on an XC bike years ago so thats why I think I may have used the copper grease. I've seen suggestions on here of loctite, is this cool? Do I degrease the BB threads and frame then whack on a splash of loctite and crank the BB back in the frame? Any pitfals here, too much loctite, too hard cranking it in? Cheers in advance, Skinny
  10. Bit of a hijack but do many people here ride a bit of trials on full sus bikes while out trail riding. I love the crossover and always try to throw a bit of trials into my trails riding. I have a spesh enduro with 5" of travel, not a trials bike by any stretch of the imagination. I have deore m525 hydraulic disk brakes on the rear with a 160mm rotor, I've always been impressed by these brakes, a bit like they punch above their weight in the same way as bb5s seem to. I'm wondering how much better a hope trial with a 180/200 rotor on the back would be or would I just tear my spokes out, maybe not given the give in the suspension. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gapping 5 foot on this, but given the topic was wondering peoples thoughts. Cheers, Skinny Bit of an edit, just read in the hope trial/moto thread that the trial doesn't like heat so is not suitable for an xc/dh bike - ah well, nice to have been saved £150. General thoughts on trials meets trails would be good.
  11. Hi, my bb5 was lacking bite so I had a look on the net for the instructions for removing the pads. Simple to get out, looked a bit ridged so gave them a good sand and roughen up then came to the putting them back in bit. The instructions said blue pad goes one side, black the other. Mine are both red and look identical. Whats the deal there? The sanding of the pads has improved them but I could do with a bit more bite for some front end action - any pad recommendations?   13. My two pennies worth. All good. Location - I'm glad its up in North Wales, I live here and am fed up with having to travel down south for everything and anything. Its nice to see a more mid to northern location. One thing I've not seen mentioned is the awesome riding done by the likes of Ali C. I'm lucky in that I get to ride with Matt (mintsauce) a fair bit, so as a beginner get to be inspired by some top (nearish the top, well sorta above middle, when his hand doesn't hurt, or hes got a bike that works . . . . ) level riding. Even then I was blown away by Alis riding, slick style, bold moves, tgsless and more modern progressive streety riding tricks. Making sure there are some top level riders there each day to inspire us beginner types would be great.

  15. I think TSG do a shin+ankle pad combo but am not sure where sells them in the UK. Does anyone else know where I could get some? I have shin pads but really fancy some ankle protection.

  18. Wow, I've just seen a whole load of pics and videos of the course thats been set up for this. Its mental, like seriously out of the asylum. Am well looking forward to this, a weekend of trials, camping, a bit of drinking and a lot of eating.

    I've seen the citroen LHM fluid mentioned as a good replacement for royal blood. Not used it myself though, but always had it in mind for when I needed to bleed mine. I think its specd for higher pressures or something techy than most other hydraulic fluids, something to do with it being used in the hydraulic suspension of the old citroens.

  23. Hi, I'm after a new 180mm rotor for my trail bike which is running deore 525 brakes with 6 bolt hubs. I look on CRC and they have XT 6 bolt 180mm rotors (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=756) but someone asks a question about them being suitable for their deore 525s. The answer comes back from CRC that they are not as the XT rotor has a shallower braking surface so the wider deore pads would get shredded by the rotor arms. This business of different width braking surfaces is new to me, whats the crack there? I've emailed CRC for clarification too but thought yous guys were pretty hot on techy details and it applies to my trials bike to as I have bunged any old rotor onto my bb5s and now wonder if they are "compatible"?
