spirited road driving and the odd track day?
-
Top reviews, looks like ill be using him then! What brands and type do the 182 people use for front pads mainly?
-
Is the website tartybikes or trials-uk level of trustworthy? Never used it before is all... What front pads would you recommend? Was think of EBC reds, had them on my golf and they were fantastic, but what about on the clio platform?
-
-
The 5 is for sale if anybody wants a cheap car on the standard deathtrap suspension not the deathtrap coilys... Also any clue on what front disks to get on the front of the 182 that are a good price for performance?
-
Dann didnt you cry when i butchered the lupo coilys to fit the renault 5?

Okay so an update on the 182 timing belt scenario... Drove his 182 today on his dads private land, belts done 5k ago at a renault specialist, drove and pulled nice! rough iPhone 0-60(ish) timing and various pulls through the gears. The black one im buying is quicker on both 0-60 and pull from a high gear low revs and the VVT 'feels' like it comes alive sooner. Both limiters feel the same. They idle like shit the same, typical 182 idle... Steering feels better on his, also BRAKES, they are most certainly deadly.... cheap quick fix for about £100.
-
Sooo how much haha?
-
It seems the average price for one on egay is about 2k? but most of those are high milage... When he has this car driving everyday, it was clean, and the paintwork isnt bad at all minus those points i previously mentioned. I think it should be a good car once i get it.
-
The 182 in question that im getting, anyone with a 182 spot anything noticeable i may of missed? So far body work wise, it has a cracked rear bumper, dented bonnet (shut dent?), dent on rear arch, scuffed front bumper. Brakes NEED replacing on the front so looking at the Brembo carbon things that are cheaper than the K-Tecs, and quite possibly K-Tec coilys or lowering springs maybe?
-
Ill get some pics when im off next, but its a lad i work with, i have been with him when it was his daily, and it seems okay. Ill ask about proof of history. Im some vile black, with fogged up headlights(will probably need another set of lenses) a little dent on the drivers door, no bigger than a 5p. needs a good detailing, but the condition of it all is great minus those points, the seats and wheel are in good condition also. ironically when he was looking at buying one before he had the one for sale, i found him a blue 182 for sale that sold within a day, half a year later he bought the same one haha. I trust him as a seller, he has also said to me i can have it when ever and pay him later, but id rather not.
-
Right, been to look at this clio 182 today, its done 64k, belts been done once at 35k, has the normal sound of a 182 motor, needs new disks and pads on the front (which im fully aware of the cost and such) and comes with a k-tek exhaust fitted about a month ago. Full fat cup pack. 05 plate. Anything else to keep my eyes peeled for thats unique to 182's? He wants £1500, i guess that is a bargain?
-
Clio 182 Dan? Ive been looking at buying one, should be mine next month if the owner pulls his finger out!

I dont take part in any vote whatsoever because i literally do not give a f**k. For me, the question may aswell read: which lies do you like the most? And for the Patriotic people out there who wish to say that people fought for our right to vote ... blahdeblahdeba... It is my right to choose to vote or not.

If your looking for a good film, TPB has a hd copy of 10 cloverfield lane, probably the best film ive seen this year!

Now im home i can sort of explain i guess... The bearing on the standard strut is a bigger diameter than the coil top cap retainer thing, so using the same r5 bearing is not an option. The standard style vw bearing that sits ontop of the shock, wont do a single thing, as these arent designed for this type of topmount..... so nor is that a viable option. The spring now is going to want to 'jump' as this is twisting, so self centring will be more aggressive if i let go of the wheel, but i have gotten used to this, driving the car with blown bearings nonetheless. I think if i buy a adjustable topmount, this will sort it out? as far as i am aware they have bearings in the assembly. Because the renault ones are rare as rocking horse shit, im going to either have to use a clio set, or look at getting the main plate cnc'd to fit the 5, and use the rest of a adjustable topmount assembly to sort it out. EDIT: strike all that, i think i have been a wizard and thought of a solution! Ill tinker tomorrow!

Turns out that the coilovers run fine, changed the spring to the up spring ratio for more lows and better ride, but now it needs notching. No bearings in use whatsoever. Steering feels fine, no creaks, bangs, knocks and so on. I asked physics and i broke them. Coilovers had to be reamed out to fit No standard spring top plate(just the coilover one obviously) No bearings, and not that the bearings has any affect on the car before i did this, i must of found 2 ball bearings in total, with the cups bent to f**kery.
-
Food for thought and opinions, switching to coilovers today on the renault 5, they are from a vw lupo(nearly the same as mk1, just a touch wider so will need to be washer'd. But! the suspension on these pretty much goes top hat rubber donut huge looseball bearing(mine are obliterated) spring top plate .... and so on My thought, is how much of a necessity is the bearing, for me, i feel it has little function, as im driving with both blown apart with little to no affect?
-
I need to have a test drive in one to see what they are like! I was also thinking of the mitsubishi galant vr4 (ideally an estate if not i dont care too much) anyone ever owned one on here? i rather like the styling and practicality...
-
No clue on how to remove quotes, im too tired to figure it out. But ive been toying with the idea of a celica, you been on an 'enthusiastic' drive with it yet? EDITY: just read its new, has anyone got any experience with what they are like for the driving experience?

What a lovely day to be out driving, up until the point of the coolant bottle's securing bodge from the previous owner (a cable tie) fails and the bottle gets twatted by the fan and splits open. 1 Nissan Micra radfan installed 1 MK1 golf coolant bottle installed with nearly no bodging. Times overheated..... still 0, coolant come out of the opening on the bonnet and made it clear.... Next on the Agenda get the twats cooling system bumped up! which leads me to a question: IF i go and buy a uprated rad, so long as its the same size, do i need to worry about anything else?
