  1. Cheers mate, I've got Lukes number but If you could pop me urs in a pm that would be great. Looking forward too it Might bring my camera along too if you guys want? (Its not that great, just a cheapo DSLR, you might have better?)
  2. Hey dude Sounds awesome! Just started pretty recently so if you don't mind a n00b cramping your style... . Got a driving lesson in clacton around 4 ish and Ill have 2 take the train up from clacton so I prob wont be up there until around 6-7
  3. You could measure the free-fall time quite accurately with an accelerometer.
  4. Where are you from in essex mate, near Colchester by any chance?
  5. Sweeet! Looks hot dude. Roughly how much did did your 'inspired' cost altogether?
  6. Ok dude, happy to help. With the extra money I would look at upgrading the rear brake first getting some good vees (Avid sd7's give brilliant performance/money) and also get some sd7 levers because the stock tektros feel like shite. I find the front disk fine for trials after it has been bedded in but you might want to look at an avid bb7 setup if your not convinced. If your learning would defo recommend upgrading to some good platform pedals because the stock caged are never that pleasant to wack your leg into (as I have managed many times) And then you will probably want to get rid of the gears and buy some sprockets and something to tension your chain with. Good luck with your new phase
  7. He really did 'break' his hand So many puns to be made
  8. Hey mate, I got a phase 1.3 a few months ago and I couldn't be more happy with it to be honest. I heard at the time that the red phase 1.2 was better value (couldnt afford it at time though) but from what I can see now (Knowing a bit about trials) You could probably buy all of the upgrades that come with the 1.2 for the extra £140; from a description I just read the things your paying extra for on the 1.2 are the hs33's and the maxxis tyres. So I would say its all down to whatever colour you prefer and if you would rather choose your own upgrades. Hope that helped! Edit: Ah just thought of something... You don't get the magura mounts on the 1.3 and thats the only real benefit of the 1.2 I can see.

    Bandwagon!

Thought it was a marino at first xD looks even nicer though. What year was the frame made?
  10. Im a bit of a newbie to trials but I must of watched hundreds of trials clips and movies now and the amount of people that ride left foot forward really surprises me! I assumed that people who are right handed would naturally ride with their right foot forward however after doing a bit of goggling the percentage of left handed people in the world is somewhere between 10%-20% and It seems a much larger percent of peeps in trials vids ride left foot??? It would be great to get a poll going to see how figures go on this forum and to also see if anyone rides opposite foot forward to what they write with. Sorry for the essey but its not just you
  11. Thanks for replies. I managed to sort it by stripping a section from top layer of plastic housing the same size as the ferrel and then sliding it over. The Odyssey linear slic cable has two layers of plastic protection with two layers of metal cable wrapped inside(extremely hard to get a clean cut with standard wire cutters) Next time I will be getting some better wire cutters and I will try to do a proper job. The Odyssey cable came with the two ferrules so I'm sure its just that I did such an awful job cutting the wire. Would be great to hear from anyone with experience cutting the same cable
  12. I just got a new odyssey Linear slic cable for my trials bike and I really need some tips fitting it. I have managed to cut one end of the housing to size (With great difficulty!) but I can't manage to slide on the cable end fitting (think there called ferrules) as it is smaller than the housing. Please give me any tips if you have installed a similar cable before. Thanks

Great to see some more MAD's. Nice vid
  14. What would you recommend for when I get a bit more money. By the way its for a stock phase 1.3. The irony was that right after I ordered the new brakes I went out 2 practise my back wheel hops and attempt some pedal kicking but tektros slipped and I fell on my ass and slightly sprained my wrist. Starting to heal now and I think I will be able to ride again when new brakes arrive First time I had properly fell of as well.
  15. Just ordered Avid SD7's, an odyssey linear slick cable and I got a pair of speed dial 7 levers. Came to £45 altogether (new) a good bit less that HS33 would of cost me. Lets hope they feel much better than my current tektro's.
  16. Glad I read this thread before buying hs33 for my v mount. Looks like its a bit of a pain in the ass to set up. Would a mechanical v brake such as SD7's give the same feel and performance as hydraulic rims?
  17. Complete beginner here up for a Clacton ride
  18. Cheers! I bumped into Rob and Scott doing trials down at clacton beach when I went out on my trials bike for the first time last week. Very random and lucky! Given me some tips to get started. Both sounded like really decent guys! Nice one Luke! Look forward to meeting you guys. I'll be sure to drop you a text.
  19. I couldn't believe how hard you had to pull just to lock the back wheel compared to the Avid SD5's I've got on my MTB but that's nothing. At the moment I haven't even managed to lock the front so lets just say my fingers hate Tektro IO's Edit: and don't mock me pro's I've also adjusted and re-adjusted tens of times with no luck :L
  20. Cheers again Oli. very helpfull! Going to try and bed my disk brakes in properly next week. If that fails I'm going to go for some BB7's. Thanks again Oli
  21. Hey Pete. I'm in the same boat at the moment. Just got a Phase 1.3 the other day and the brakes are shocking. I'm saving up for avid BB7's for the front and Avid Single Digit 7's for the back (Tried SD 5's and they are amazing for the price) A guy on this forum called Oli P was helping me out in a thread I made with the same sort of questions not so long ago: Here I'm going to give my brakes another week to bed in but If I'm still not happy and I don't think I will be! I'm gonna get the brakes I stated above. Read some great reviews and from my previous experience Avid make some dayum good brakes.
  22. Just got a trials bike and none of my mates are into trials . Therefore I need more mates Anyone trial biking around clacton or colchester up for going out some time with a complete noob? Cant wait to find some guys in my area to do trials with. Not so fun on your own :L Thanks Oli
  23. Thats a nice portfolio. I came across your Web Design+ tips and started having a read; Very very interesting. I bookmarked and will definitely be using these tips in the future. In terms off CSS/HTML knowledge you must be quite a few lightyears ahead of me but I do hand code all of my projects using (my basic knowledge) of CSS/HTML. Regarding the Onza site, do you use msn so we could have a good talk about it?
  24. Cheers mate! I know the redesigns need a lot of work but I do think If I really thought it would be worth my effort that I could make something very cool for Onza. Funny you should say about a new bike. The only reason I had a go at a new design was in pure hope that I could tempt them to give me a new Onza bike I thought even if they didn't like the designs enough, they might feel a bit of sympathy about how much I wanted a trials bike and just sent me one. :L (couldn't wait any longer and ended up splashing out on a cheap phase bike to get started with) I am also a web designer/developer in the free time I can fit around college. Colaborating and Pitching something to them sounds like a smashing idea though! Very interested if you still are. You got any work you can show me. Two of my latest sites: colchesterclassics fordphysiotherapy
