  1. I built my first wheel a few weeks ago. What I did was just watch loads of tutorials on youtube then got an old wheel, took it apart then built it back up. It helps if you have an already built wheel beside you to look at if you are stuck. You might aswell learn while yo have a chance it will save you money.
  2. Land drops flatter, try and land your front wheel lower but not too low that you smash your wrists. When you are going up something instead of landing on your back wheel try and land on to wheels to keep your momentum going. Edit: Also just watch any of Stan Shaws videos.
  3. Wow where did you get those holy rollers with the big maxxis logo? Very nice looking bike.
  4. The 83mm part is the width of the bb shell, 83mm is found normally on downhill and freeride bikes. Most bikes are 68mm and can use a spacer for a 73mm bb. As said you can't beat shimano chainset on a mtb, I have a SLX on mine just now and they are great, they are strong and light I'd say they look better than the higher priced models aswell.
  5. Cannot stand that music, there was some good riding in there. What I don't get is why you don't wear a T-Shirt, it seems kind of pointless when you are wearing trousers just wear shorts, also it didn't look that hot in most of the clips.
  6. It kind of looks like your hanger is bent back slightly so the jockey wheel is too close to the sprocket. Undo the bolts on the wheel and see if its sitting right in the dropouts aswell. Edit: Also the arm that connects on to the hanger looks a steep angle, undo the bolt on that arm on to the hanger then push it closer to the chainstay if you can, you might not be able to, I can't remember if Rolhoff's have a pin on them.
  7. have you got a rear 26inch wheel i could buy off you?

  8. Really nice riding and editing, but even though Elbow are proberly my favourite band the song didn't go that well with most of it, some parts it sounded too loud and fast. The video was still great though.
  9. Not a stupid question as you didn't know, you might aswell get a new one the sprocket on your old wheel may have worn.
  10. Mine is pretty much healed over, just a little dent now. I can ride fine now which is good.
  11. As said, you commit to things alot more because you can't stop yourself from doing it. Unlike brakeless BMX where you don't really need a brake, its just for stopping, obviously in trials most moves depend on them but when you take them off you rely alot more of your drivetrain and hopping ability, there are less correction hops and you learn to roll and land things on both wheels which is an advantage if you go back to brakes. When I went back to brakes I found that hopping up stuff became harder because I just chickened out when I got to the hopping bit but now they are off I feel alot more confident doing spins and going up stuff.
  12. I cringed the other day when I saw someone come out of Halfords with the forks on backwards. There are some stores with experienced mechanics like the Penrith one, but most of the ones I've been in they are pretty uninviting and just thry ignore you even if they don't know anything about bikes at least try and communicate.
  13. If you do get one, you won't regret it. They are really light and comfy, the padding is well thought out as the front pads are below the helmet line. The looks will grow on you aswell.
  14. Unweight the front wheel quite abit and put your weight to the opposite side you are going you need to be going pretty fast aswell or you will just stop, its alot easier to practice on gravel.
  15. Cheers, yeh I learnt my lesson but I started sweating quite abit under the kneepad so the plaster peeled off which was abit annoying.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Muf_7Z1DwSQ Just a short edit from before I injured myself and after. My style has sort of change since the last time I rode brakes which I prefere.
  17. I don't mind them redressing it everyday but I'd much prefere if they just used the same type of dressing.
  18. Having to get it redressed pretty much everyday now. It smelt abit minging the other day at the hospital, they gave me some antibiotics and that seemed to of sorted it. I've been riding almost properly now, my knee feels pretty good and I can walk fine again. An annoying thing about getting it redressed so often is that everytime they change the dressing type like I'll get comfortable in one dressing then they go and change it to a different one.
  19. Yep I'd say that was pretty perfect. How is the bashring fairing or haven't you smashed it yet.
  20. i'll try but i think the bead on the tyre is pretty stiff

  21. I never really got on with it, its a grippy tyre but I didn't think it rolled that good on street
