Chamonix it was. Where Danny Macaskil did "Filming for The Perfect Moment" Awesome riding though James

Very nice riding there, but as has been said above he has his own style, and therefore he couldn't be the "new" anyone. On a different note does anyone have any idea as to what bike he is riding? Thanks James

Just to give you some idea as to how bad I really am, I made this in about half an hour this morning. It was shot on a 35quid point and shoot camera so the quality is REALLY bad. Just so you know whilst waiting for it to upload I had a little play one the bike and managed four pedal kicks including hops each one about 12" so I am slowly getting there and it just goes to show how little it takes to learn something new. Brace yourself for the awful riding below: http://vimeo.com/16277476 Thanks for all your help guys James

Fair enough mate. I'm riding a Diamondback Kabuki but i do have a 09 Onza Bird coming for my birthday in late November. I've seen some nice stuff done on the Rip, in fact there was a video done not long ago on a Rip. James

Hey again. I just went out for 45 minutes or so to try out some of the techniques mentioned. Fook me it's hard! Oh well. Guess I'll just have to give it more time and effort. I managed to roll forward and stop twice in a row, so I guess three is my next target. Thanks All James

I shall do this! Thanks guys. I will try. I am going to go out for haf an hour or so now and see if I can get it lke you said. Thanks James

What you riding mate? James

Hey all, I have been riding now for around a month or so properly, and have managed to learn the basics such as hopping on my back wheel and can sidehop up to around the 15" mark, but cannot pedal ick or gap to save my life. By this I mean I cannot do it FULL STOP. :$ Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how I ca do these. I have watched Mastering The Art Of Trials, but no matter what I do from there I cannot do it. I may go out and film a few things in a minute so I'll post that up. Maybe there's something wrong in my techniue I haven't spotted. Thanks James

Fook me I need to get into the city some time, us on the outskirts have nothing decent to ride! Mind you think I'll wait into I've improved first Awesome vid though! James

I've just ordered one for my rear from ChainReactionCycles so if it arrives tomorrow I will tell you what it is like. James

Just saw these on your Facebook. You have inspired me to go out and improve more. Dammit I can only just get up a wall a tad higher than a kurb , Major practice needed! James

Thanks. They had an 09 rip in there for £150 but i thought it would've been cheeky taking the both of them and selling on the rip! So back to topic, anyone know the weights of the stem, bars and forks of the 09 Bird? Thanks James
-
O right. I got the bike for £250. I reckon I will spend £200 on parts. The new Bird is £419. Even with any savings I could get from Tarty it would still work out a lot more expensive I'm afraid. Good thought though. Thanks James Edit: I would of course buy my parts from Tarty without a doubt
-
The shop only sell the standard stock bikes , but don't stock any parts other than tires and BMX parts ie. freewheels. I have been riding mountain bikes all my life so I am confident in changing the parts over so if I bought the parts separately I could put them on the bike without hassle. I am pretty new to riding trials, I've only had my stock just over a month now, so I'm not too wised up when it comes to parts etc. I just need the weights of the components to be completely honest with you. Are the forks that come on there the same as the Tuf Guys. They are pretty hefty at 1.2kg so if they are an upgrade from the stock ones then they are definitely worth upgrading. Sorry if that confused anyone Thanks James

Abrasive BMX in Yate, Bristol. It was the last one they had so I got it cheap. Why do you ask?
-
Like I said in my first post, I am going FFW straight away. As for the brake, I love the feel of vees and as soon as I put a decent lever on and a nice set of pads, it'll be fine. It is really the weight that I find an issue so that is why I asked originally. Not trying to be obnoxious or anything, just saying. Thanks anyway James
-
Thanks for that. Does anyone know specific weights as i want to add it all up and see whether or not it is worth spending a couple of hundred on the bike to make it lighter. I've already worked out I can save 300g just changing the cranks with ones I have already, and moving the freewheel to the front. I reckon I could get about 1 and a half kilos in total. If anybody could shed some light as to the weights of the bar, stem and forks on the bike I would be very grateful. Thanks James

Hey all My birthday is fast approaching, and from my parents I am getting an Onza Bird 09. I have been asked if there is anything else I would like along with the bike, perhaps to make it lighter or nicer to ride. I am considering going for new forks/stem/bars/cranks and moving the freewheel to the front. Does anybody know the weight of the forks, bars and stem, so as I make sure I choose something that is actually lighter. Thanks James

don't we all, but I really don't get the point in making a thread about it! James

Type in Pro-Bolt on google and it is the first website. They sell loads of colours and sizes and is where I got mine from. James Edit: here it is Bolts

Meh, I'm feeling better so as it's drying up I think I might go for a ride once I finish this essay I'm writing. Thanks James

I have finally put the finishing pieces on to my bike to get it up to the spec that I wanted. Order from Tarty arrived yesterday so built it up this morning since I am off school ill at the moment. Cant ride it yet though as it's raining and the tyres and brakes are FUBAR'd in the wet. Oh well. This is what she used to look like: Here she is now: Spec is as follows: Diamondback Kabuki Mono Frame Trialtech Race Welded Stem V!z Logic Gold Bars Speedrace VP Single Cage Pedals Truvativ Husselfelt Crankset Dual Vee Brakes Schwalbe Crazybob Tyres F+R Try-All Foam Grips Rear Shimano Deore hub on Mavic XM317 Front Specialised hub also on a XM317 Big Thanks goes out to: Tartybikes for the several orders it has taken me to get this far PeggySue for the stem LordMersey for the frame and crankset Comments welcome Thanks James

The speedraces are currently reduced to fifteen quid on Tarty, I got mine yesterday and look pretty good so far. James
-
I suppose so, but maybe a protector that goes on the fork would be feasible, as that would only require two designs in total, one for post mount and one for the other which I can never remember what it is called, (IS?) Just an idea. James
-
That is exactly what is happening. I decided to go for a set of Viz Logics from Tarty instead. Just got to wait for the order to come through and I will have my bike up and running with proper trials gear on it. Thanks all James
