  1. Pretty sure I saw those listed on eBay with dead bearings in the rear hub, still a bargain by all regards even if I did need to do bearings. Just tried my luck at bending the hangar / mech back, I now only have 2 and 7-9 but at least they index a touch better, I did get it working going from 9 down to 5 but then had too much tension to drop one gear at a time. Thinking about what I'd need to do to get this bike to a decent standard I may just slap some skinny road tyres on and upgrade bikes when I'm earning
  2. Thanks for the reply, amazed to see you're still about here! Forks will be when I'm back in work (I'm hoping very soon) so when some money is coming in I may take you up on those forks! Front wheel will more than likely wait until forks (if I can tighten the cones), as you've mentioned the difference between 9mm QR, bolt through etc. Mountain kings haven't been too bad to me! When run at 20psi anyway... Frame is for 26" wheels, 9mm QR all round, 3x9 but would go 1x9 as I never really leave the bigger front ring. Not sure on ratios but as it is they're shit due to bent mech. Would it make sense if I said the bike feels sluggish? Almost like even on flat smooth surfaces I'm peddaling through grass, clay etc and I pretty much have to be constantly on the pedals even during the downhill sections
  3. Hey guys, don't think I've been on here since the 2016 Trials forum track day? Been a while anyway so hope everyone is good! I've got a 2012 Saracen Mantra Trail, not they best but for what I paid it's been perfect. Now I've done a few trails around Swinley Forrest (30+ miles in the last week) I'm going to be needing to upgrade some bits ASAP. The trails are over a rough stone floor with loose stones, drops, roots etc as well. The headset, F+R hub cones and even front derailure have vibrated loose, my rear mech is bent and the stancion seals are worn giving the forks a lot of play. I'm after the cheapest upgrades possible, secondhand is prefered and eBay links even better! I'll stick the spec below and If anyone can lend a hand It'd be great. Saracen Mantra Trail 2012 frame Suntour XCR LO 120mm travel 1 1/8th non tapered (Can I spin the stancion seals 90degrees so the play is left to right?) Acera front mech Deore rear (hangar bent, cage is twisted) Shimano M445 brakes 180/160, these are faultless except the odd bit of fade Formula unsealed hubs, pretty sure both axles are bent and the cones keep coming loose, notchy af Continental Mountain king 2.2, sidewalls are wearing thin. Thanks!
  4. So spoiler cost me £90, bonnet was a straight swap for my oem steel bonnet, not bad if I say so, just needs a bit of paint
  5. Standard is "276" Hp because some stupid regulations. Yeah I did in the end, never again
  6. Should hopefully be dropping it off tomorrow to have the gearbox replaced with a fully reburbed box and having it mapped, auto ecu has flat spots and it's running like shit. finally got the front mount on, no matter what I do I can't get the Intercooler central so the bumper can't sit properly and there's a boost leak but I've triple checked everything and all clamps are tight with a good seal
  7. So I tried fitting my fmic yesterday and had to give up at 10pm because angle grinding in the dark is not the one. So far I've trimmed about 10mm from the bumper support, much more from the bumper itself and I've still got to cut a hole in my inner wing to run pipework. I've also had to turn the horns around, trim my a/c fan cover and re locate my temp sensor Has anyone got a spare will to live?
  8. Quite a few bits I need sorting namely bushes and bracing, car was waaaay too sloppy yesterday, could probably do with some decent tyres too
  9. Brilliant day! Thanks Dan for organising it, I think the wet laps were my favourite for certain reasons
  10. Sucks to hear that mate give me a shout when you're back and we'll go for a run out, you've gotta show me some of the decent routes around fleet at some point
  11. But surely he'll be coming in his pimp as f**k fiat? Haz I'll bring a scissor jack? Or if you wanted to convoy with me (if you're still around Crowthorne) I've got a hydraulic jack you could use before we go
  12. I f**king love that number plate
  13. Got my spoiler on, not a perfect fit and needs paint so I'll let a body shop fettle and paint it, not bad for some 22 year old suspension and £90 in cash
  14. Pretty much because it's easier yeah, plus I think it looks pretty good in black so win win. Bootlid should be fairly straight forward however I'm thinking the spoiler will he a pita, fibreglass base/stands and Alu blade
  15. Picked up a GTR spoiler, Going to paint the spoiler and bootlid gloss black. Realistically how good of a finish will I get with rattle cans? I've asked Rich for a few tips already as he's painted his mx5 but I'm after a few more pointers. friend of mine photoshopped the spoiler on + painted it so I've already got some idea of a finished product
  16. That's why I'm gunna have a moan, might even be able to pull him up on the name change to avoid having a bad name. Been speaking to a friend and he mapped it too aggressively and blew it up on the dyno, by the time he'd gone money back through the courts he'd built and mapped it himself. In other news though IMG_8224.mp4
  17. I had a moan at them today and they've ordered a new box from a breaker. Going to watch them install it to make sure no f**king bolts get left undone again and try to get some money back. I paid for it via credit card and paid it back instantly just so it was insured and they are VAT registered. Recently found out they used to be rising sun performance, had I have known that initially I'd have steered well away
  18. So this manual conversion is making me want to sell the f**king skyline after all the problems I'm having. List of issues is adding up :/ First picked the car up with what was diagnosed as the input shaft bearing having failed. Replaced bearing, noise still there. Rattles and scrapes all the time. Crunches 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Stinks of hot gear oil with a hint of clutch after even so much as a 2nd to 3rd pull. Sump plug not even halfway in on the auto box left in the boot so my boot carpet/board is ruined as well as everything else in the boot. Clutch starting to feel vague. Clutch pedal developing quite a bad click/movement. Told my speedo was calibrated to within 2mph, I asked "so the car is going 58 when the clocks say 60, 38 at 40" and was told yes. Turns out it was calibrated within 2mph at 20mph on a dyno and "it's the best I'll get using the auto diff". When the speedo says 60 I'm actually doing 75+ etc. Whether that's the case or not it would've been nice for a heads up as I almost got flashed taking it home (luckily I checked satnav speed). Garage installed my coilovers at the same time, I've had a horrendous knocking noise and today finally decided to have a look, the nsf top mount bolts were not even halfway down the threads, got a knock from the nsr too but that means seats out. The garage have agreed to change the gearbox once they've sourced another but I'm not even sure I'd want them to change it now after finding those bolts left undone. Where do I go from here? Replacement gearbox and take it somewhere else to check it over?
  19. Nothing wrong with using a screwdriver a a punch punched mine open and stretched the spring/ran it basically dry for 3 years before selling it on and it was at least 6 years old before I had it. I'll admit I am a lot more sympathetic with cars though
  20. Hope you get it back up and running soon! We need a mini tf car meet before the track day for a run out or something
  21. Got my car back, still has input shaft bearing noise just not quite as bad and crunches 2nd and 3rd, not a happy bunny
  22. Cheers Ross good to hear. I may not end up doing the scheme now as it looks like it's a 12month rental and you've got to pay 25% of a "fair market value" to keep it and the website uses the upper end of the RRP which actually makes it more expensive than putting it on a credit card
  23. Hey guys, gunna do cycle to work and looking to spend up to £650. No idea what do get and unsure whether I wanna to 650, 29" etc etc I can only order from cyclesolutions.co.uk and only selected models. I was looking at the cube attention 27.5 but I'm unsure about whether the shimano hydraulics are still as useless as 4-5 years ago when I was into bikes. going to be used for a 4 mile commute and the occasional blast around swinley forest as I live less than 2mins away. Thanks!
