Just to let you know, spokes are made in a million different lengths by different manufacturers, it won't be tarty cutting them.

A higher BB makes a bike more stable on the back wheel as you're further over the back, but less stable on 2 wheels 'cause there's a higher centre of gravity. And lower BB vice versa. I'd say higher BB for comps 'cause you spend more time on the back wheel. Hence why most Koxx bikes are +55/60 bb.
