Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire 3 aren't point and click adventures. I guess it's a bit of a dying genre because it doesn't have enough explosions/killing people. There are newer generation version of Broken Sword for the PS2, but they kind of suck as far as I know. The Monkey Island series of games was alot like this, but there are no new games i know about that are point and click based. Maybe Hotel Dusk for the DS? I think that might be the fix you are looking for.
