  2. i had a zoot and snapped the frame after 2 months. just to let you know haha. get the element.
  3. it doesent matter about the disc, i use a cutting disc and its fine. the "not for grinding" means like, not for grinding welds smooth etc as the edge of the disc isn't bevelled and grinding discs are curved so they dont eat into the material you are trying to grind down too. (not a very good description but you should hopefully get the idea) doing a rim every now and then makes no difference if you use a cutting disc. anyway, yeah its probably your rim. grinds should go smooth(er) after a little bit of use obviously but you shouldnt lose braking power, unless the rim is made of low grade material which will wear down. i.e most viz rims as ive heard. so yeah its probably your rim. ahh ghostrider beat me to the punch (with a better explanation) as i was typing.
  4. HAHAHAH! oh dear... this is exactly what I dont want mine to do. how old were they?
  5. well i got them for free then some friends said "ooh you got sl's they snap like a twig" ... so i wanted to find out how bad they really are.. if atall, ive still been doing hooks and stuff today, so they havent affected my riding. if I had about 10 people get back to me and say they fail at every glimpse of a hook or up-to-front, then i may think a little different. i dont ride too hard on my forks anyway so im not concerned.
  6. ahh ok, i dont do any up to fronts, mostly because i cant . the only tough front wheel moves I do are hooks, which as far as moves go.. is probably the hardest on the forks, so i guess ill keep these to a minimum. any signs i should be looking out for? like stress marks etc? and where abouts would these pop up? Cheers guys this is helpful
  7. Haha are they seriously that weak?
  8. Yeah ive done some front wheel bounces etc and theyve been fine, its not like theyre made of butter, im running a hope with 200mm rotor. I basically just want to know which moves snap them easiest, cos if its gaps to front... Then ill be fine haha.
  9. right ok so i've got some echo SL forks. As i've heard they have more crack than whitney houston. i.e they snap a lot. if you've ever owned some.. where do they go? also heard its the sl's with maggys on that snap... this true? i use disc onlys, i dont do gaps to front, I will be doing hooks though. and bounces on the front and footjams. any one??
  10. cheers lads, im really loving the new pedals and the new weight of the thing. saved nearly 2 kilos off it over all, now weighs in at 9.38kgs, i didnt think i would feel much difference but i have.
  11. yeah +1. tnn lgm's on a grind. cant go wrong. tried and tested.
  12. yeah I agree, its not that good, and the description of the spec is vague at best, maybe there's a good reason for that..... does anyone else thing 1200 is waaaay over priced? considering you could get this for cheaper.. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/20_inch_trials_bikes/zoo_lynx_2012/c10p11722.html and still have cash to upgrade the brakes..
  13. i think maybe if you get them and dont mess with them they may be fine, i was constantly taking mine apart and re-bleeding (cos i run mine through stem). maybe thats the issue?
  14. i'd go with magura, i got the 2011 hs33 and the lever did start to have a little leak in the lever after a month or 2, not sure where it was coming from, however i re-bled it and then it was fine for a few months, then traded it for a echo tr lever. echo lever, magura slaves, trialtech hose splitter, tnn lgms, trialtech booster and a good grind = POWERRRRR!!
  15. cool, yeah cya sunday fella. 5er? how about a nice long hug? just as good...
  16. yeah I agree, when i did it i didnt file slots in the steerer though, just 5 little notches at the top to get the starnut started off. it was pretty sturdy, it wasnt 100% sturdy like a normal starnut, i'd say 70%. what can be done.. which is a pain in the arse but has the best of both worlds.. i did this same thing on a jump bike i used to have, i put the big starnut in first and it wasnt very strong at all, abit of torque on the bolt would have pulled it out, so.. i got a normal starnut, and drilled/smashed/pulled out the inner threaded part, so i had the 2 little star shaped black things on their own, then use a pipe to just sit on top of it and bang that in after. that way when you do the starnut up, the big one will get caught on the little star and its stronger. also the bolt will fit through the little star as the threaded bit is removed.. as i said.. pain in the arse but it does work,
  17. a guy whos heavier than me and rides bigger than me says they lasted him about 9 months, i just need to ride smoother probs. and about 4 people told me the new echos are shit, and after my echo bars and hearing of all the echo snap stories im doubting echo parts at the moment. even though my bikes stuffed with echo lol.
  18. I did it. Twice. Basically squash it in every direction. Easy if you have a vice. Then you may have to file the corners down ( youll see what i mean when you do it) then start to bang the starnut into the steerer and it will leave 5 marks. File a little groove on each mark, then bang the nut in all the way. What you might find is that only one of the 2 starnut things works, te second one might break. Let me know if you need more in depth help.
  19. I started off riding trail mtb, and downhill. then go a jump bike and did abit of that mixed with street and skatepark etc. then i saw a kid in my town doing pedal kicks across a zebra crossing.. though ohh how can i do that. googled rear wheel bounces and it and it came up with trashzen. then googled trials bike etc. tried some tricks on my jump bike. then sold it and bought an onza zoot 2011, then it went from there really. scince then i have sold the downhiller, the mtb, the jump bike and the zoot and now i have a real nice echo 24" and thats my story. lol
  20. Ok im gonna buy a new chain, ideally want a strong one and hopefully semi lightweight. Tartys have only got 1 3/16 chain in stock. Any reccomendations?
  21. you got a juicy 5? have you used it yet and is it any good? just wondering as all my juicys have been utter shit, leak like a sieve, and have little to no power.
  22. ok so ive run a rim grind now for a long time, today i gave my rim a nice new grind. i roll it forward and the brake is good, roll the bike backwards and the brake seems better. anyone know why? is it because my pads arent set up perfect or something? ive had my 4 bolt mounts faced and im running echo tr clamps so i would have thought they would be good. or could it be the direction that im grinding or something like that, (this seems a bit far fetched but you never know) any ideas anyone? carl
