oh shite yeah i just re-read that.. by the way i wrote that at midnight and i was tired lol... "by the way i never fitted the onza disc hub, i ended up lacing it onto my mod wheel. so i knew i had the right length spokes so i just bought another onza disc hub from you guys to lace into the zoot wheel" i forgot to mention i have 2 bikes, one 24" echo and 20" neon bow. the 1st onza hub and spokes were originally bought to run a disc on my 24" but i never ended up doing it, the spokes i got with the hub are the same length as the ones i had on the standard wheel anyway. i ended up lacing the 1st onza hub onto my 20" front wheel. then i decided to run disc on the 24" so as i already had the spokes i thought i'd just buy an identical onza front disc hub, then lace it onto the 24". i just didnt know what pattern to lace. But the spokes i got with the 1st onza hub were all the same length and the same length as the ones that were already in the wheel. by the sounds of it, it looks like 3x disc and 2x non disc is the right way to go. i doubt a radial pattern would be run on the non disc side on a 24" would it?? I hope this makes better sense.. lol

basically i have a standard onza zoot front wheel, then bought an onza hub ages ago and ordered spokes from you guys at tartys and they turned out to be the same length as the ones i already had anyway, so im guessing its just the spoke pattern that changes. does 3x disc side and 2x non disc side sound about right? i can probably find out spoke length if needed. by the way i never fitted the onza disc hub, i ended up lacing it onto my mod wheel. so i knew i had the right length spokes so i just bought another onza disc hub from you guys to lace into the zoot wheel. Hope this isnt too confusing...

ok so ive decided to run a hope trial up front. so far i have a front brake (with braided hose) a rotor with bolts a onza sealed disc hub on the way a standard onza zoot 2010 front wheel. i have the right length spokes and nipples just wondering if anyone can work out what lacing pattern i need? i was thinking 2x disc side 3x non disc side?? also im going to run the hose through the stem (i already have the stem setup) so i need to know how to take the hope hose end connector things off to slot it through the stem? anyone know?? Cheers, Carl.

Carlperkins replied to Carlperkins's topic in Bike Pictures
working on it.. lol -
isnt that something to do with filming? like when you look in the mirror and raise your right hand.. looks like your image is raising its left hand.. or is that me being silly? p.s you want me to come have a look next weekend mate? if your still struggling?

right first up its my mod, started out here its all done now and has a front brake, then its the echo 24". no before photos but it was covered in stickers and completely filthy.. i re-grinded rims, sanded all the shit off the brake pads, re-bled the brakes, new hose for front brake, new hope headset, new kenda blue groove tyres, new brake booster bolts and spacers, de-stickered/cleaned/polished frame, cleaned and lubed entire bike. ive still got some more bits i want to do, short list is.. mod: white echo risers trialtech cage pedals, White. new freewheel as mines shite! echo 24": new front disc hub hope mono trial front brake run through headset (footjams) new booster maybe new rear hub eventually.
-
ok so im gonna get shot of the echo booster i think, which booster do i go for.. i can get the trialtech off tartys or this.. which one??
-
im totally fine with running a cast iron one if it makes my brake as possible lol. im thinking i may have to invest in a more heavy duty booster.
-
that plus 2 cans of redbull..
-
ok so i have a 2011 24" echo lite and im running a 4-bolt echo booster on the back, when i pull the brake i can see the booster and frame physically flexing. is this because echo boosters are shit? or is this normal? cheers in advance for any help.
-
mate, if you still have the hub with sprocket on, (wheel not built) I can probably cut it off with my tools for you a bit better. i have a sneaky suspicion an angle grinder isnt the best way to get it off.. lol

cover the b*****d in wd40 before you do it? assuming you have some chain left and a vice??
-
price is the same??? maybe if you buy new. i bet you could get a upgraded 2nd hand 2010 for less than a new 2012.. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/buysell/item/283-onza-zoot-custom/ - thats not a good example as the price is too high and the mods arent that great but you get the gist
-
go 2010, but wait around to get a second hand one that's already been upgraded. The 2012 only seems to have different tyres and the main colour is orange instead of green, everything else is the same.

ok so ive been buying new bits for my bike, i dont ever look at the weight etc, i just bolt it on and ride.. just bought some new tyres which weigh around 1000g each where as my holy roller set weight 780g back and about 700 front?? does it really matter? adding a little extra? i mean danny macaskill rides with a pretty hefty bike and he's doing alright? just pondering it really.. cheers, Carl.

red shirts with santa hats is a must.

you dont need a fancy POC back protector or overpriced downhill setup. I had a bad back from a motorcycle accident and wore my motorbike back protector on the trials bike for a few weeks, it was fine, no restrictions and curves with your body. its a knox aegis motorcycle back protector, you need to make sure you get a well fitting one though, they come in different plate sizes. hope this helps.

im always up for a ride up norwich. just let me know. Carl Perkins on Facebook for any riders in east anglia.

ive got a echo sl on my 24" echo lite, and a tensile 60 on my neon bow mod, the tensile feels like a piece of crap. what could i get instead? cant find an SL. and has anyone else tried these freewheels and do any of them destroy easy? cheers for help in advance, Carl.

err you can get sanders that will do the job, orbital sanders etc, but most only sell really course pads so this'll be no good. your best bet is to get it shotblasted, then sand it down by hand with wet and dry sandpaper. it will take about 2 days to get it perfect though, if your not up for it.. dont start lol. ebay does pretty good buffing wheels. £3 each, they work great.
-
what sort of finish are you looking for? i used to do parts on my motorbike, if you get all the paint off, then sand down the whole frame starting from like 800grit to 2000 grit, untill the frame is completely smooth and semi-shiny. then smear autosol on the frame and use a buffing wheel on a drill to polish it, it can come up like chrome. i did this on so many motorbike parts it was unreal, my bike looked like a mirror. hope this helps mate.

its not jumping, its more like flexing your calves. the bouncing effect is caused by they tyres mostly. dont try to balance on the back wheel then just do a series of jumps, you'll need your legs/calves to be loose to bounce smoothly.

trialtech foam grips (£6.00) last for AGES! i have had 1 pair for about a year and they are still going strong! they are worn on the top where ive flipped my bike over on the tarmac and it got dragged along on the grips, but if you look after them they will last ages! i swear by them i had some inspired lock on's and the rubber texture bit just wore off where the thumb sits. other than that i haven't really tried any others hope this helps a little

nice one, it was only a 20 minute session but i must have slipped off about 15-20 times. didn't do a lot for the confidence but it should get better after a good sesh! cheers guys!
