I'm glad other people give up on things too. I started learning how to program Arduino boards. Had to get my brother to fix my first program. I left it at that.

    Covid19

If 6000 was highly accurate, then yes I might feel as though it's not quite as severe as initially suggested. There's so many variables, it's hard to trust any figure. And again, I suspect there are more people with long term side effects than we realise. Another thing that's impossible to quantify. There's a good amount of research going into the long term effects, so there must be a reason for that. (Haven't personally read this research, but a family member keeps an eye on it)

    Covid19

There's a significant number of people who didn't die, but have long term side effects. I don't think there are accurate figures out there, but it's important to be aware of this. I can't really agree with it being blown out of proportion. Consider that hospitals around the world suddenly became overloaded, and the unthinkable number of deaths. That's a serious pandemic. But I can agree about encouraging people to be as healthy as possible. Things are a little better now, with omicron. But it still frustrates me to see so many people acting like it totally doesn't matter any more, when they could be carelessly spreading it to vulnerable people. Not directed at anyone here of course.
  4. I'm with you. Absolute faff. But I'm particularly screwed because I basically haven't bothered dating for my entire life, and I think it shows I should just get a dog and settle down.

    The Werk Shop

Madness. And brakeless crashes are terrifying. The hectic music kind of worked well with the slaps of the tyres on the wood. I'm sure you intended that.

    Covid19

(I might have sounded slightly passive aggressive before) I'm not sure if you could say they're trying to achieve anything in particular, but that's probably not quite what you meant. I think it's a case of minimising the hit to themselves and to high-level tory donor's / supporters. Instead of taking immediate action, they took time to figure out how best to support their own connections. The amount of dodgy companies, and tory-related companies, involved in the supply of medical goods is absolutely staggering. And they took the opportunity to push the NHS closer to full privatisation. Most people are not aware of the steps that have gradually but continuously pushed it towards privatisation, over several decades. Including actions taken by the Labour government. Sorry I'm off topic now. That's all I can assume; they're favouring their own connections over saving lives.

    Covid19

It's odd, but equally I'm not surprised. It has been clear since the start that our government isn't particularly interested in saving lives. Here's a friendly reminder to keep up the mask wearing in busy public areas. Does it take any effort to put one on? Nope. Not at all. And yet so many people seemingly don't care about spreading it to potentially vulnerable people. Ideally we should be using ffp2 masks.

    Covid19

^ I'll try to watch that soon For me, the data makes it clear that it's safer to take the vaccine than get covid. As far as I can work out, there's a much bigger number of people with long-term issues from covid, than there is with issues from the vaccine. I guess there's a lot of personal factor's involved. For one thing, my mum has had an autoimmune disorder for 15 years, and long covid has been proven to have very similar effects on the autoimmune system. So I've witnessed how potentially damaging that type of illness can be. But to clarify, I'm not totally happy with the vaccine. I just view it as being the far lesser evil. Edit: Watched the video. Fair enough it does raise some concerns. I'm not sure if we can trust the "deaths" figure that was briefly mentioned. But the suppression of rolling out Ivermectin is a big concern.
  9. I bet this 1.9 Alfa is cheaper to run than most German options. Probably not as refined, but sexier, if I may say so myself.

Made some glittery cubes. I had intended to make some candle holders as DIY Christmas presents, but realised that it's not the greatest design for such a thing. So I've ordered some solar-powered "fairy" lights that can be crammed inside - I guess that should make them a bit more useful.
  11. Fishing. Don't get it. Especially when it's at the side of a boring canal or whatever.
  12. Volvo's are cool Actually I'm going to recommend something a bit different. I recently picked up an Alfa 159 1.9 JTDM Sportwagon. Surely the most stylish thing in your price range. Having had an older Alfa in the past, they're nothing like as scary to own as some people would have you believe. I haven't posted on here for decades but I got my project 740 on the road recently, went to some track days, found some problems, and now I'm fixing it again.
  13. Indeed. How the actual f**K has England been brainwashed into voting tories? Hooray for terrible health care and privatisation.
  14. Depends where I'm at. I'm leaving the car off the road until approx. May.
  15. I would've liked an Ashton Justice in black & white.
  16. Thanks, you've reminded me to buy tickets for Slipknot. I quite like their new album, but in terms of Corey's stuff my favourites are "The house of gold & bones" albums by Stone Sour.
  17. Even as a Volvo guy, that's a dumb move

@CurtisRider I've been thinking about adjustable car ramps recently and I remember you made something along those lines. Willing to share some pics?
  19. Modern-ish ones are not that bad. The 156 for example was a step up in quality from previous models.
  20. Tom, you might be solely responsible for keeping TF alive.
  21. Was the R26 just a temporary thing?? I finally got my 740 turbo running, 5 months after the first attempt. I was let down by a brand new part that didn't work. Thoroughly looking forward to doing some skids in 2019.
  22. Can't think of any significant distinguishing marks. I sold it to Tom Chilvers.
  23. Nice, and quite possibly the frame I used to own: Link to thread from 2012

    Tig Welding

Good stuff. I desperately need a welding bench. I'm just starting with mig, but I barely have space to work. Last night I rearranged the garage to at least have a tiny bit of workspace. I built the first section of my exhaust on the floor with the garage in its previous arrangement, not pleasant! (Front of the car is in the foreground) Had to do some awkward pie cuts to get the exhaust to line up properly.
