  1. How about trying to find a used set of Kaiser projekts or Tryall Sticky-Lite? The Tryall tire especially has such soft compounds, it is not too long before it becomes half slick with bald center knobs and only side knobs for hooking on to walls.
  2. I have been out of the trials scene for a couple years, I have looked at picking up a Carthy rear rim and a set of Trialtech sport lite forks, but it seems that they are not stocked anywhere, and they have not released any new products in a while. I was also looking for their BB7 brake pads, but barely found one that was the last one stocked in a shop. Is Trialtech still around?
  3. For the big bolts such as the crank bolts, the ti bolts are definitely worth it. As for the small bolts like the stem bolts, the benefits are not necessarily noticeable. And you run the risk of rounding them out. There is more weight saving in ti axle. I saved 100 grams from using the echo ti axle for bb and another 100 grams for the ti pedal axles.
  4. I see. I ordered the paste anyways since it was pretty cheap on ebay. How about a torque wrench? Is that necessary for the carbon bars?
  5. Okay, my phone messed up. Please delete the duplicate threads, moderators.
  6. I am about to dig up my old rockman carbon bar to put on my bike. Is the carbon fiber grip product necessary? And any products that can replace it if I cannot find it?

  8. Hey man Nice chillded video! If I could offer one advice on the video, please just get on with the riding. I had to skip the first 30 seconds of non riding at the start of the video. If I clicked on a trials vid, I want to see some riding, not some man walking around in a house. For next time!

    Scary shit

I hope whatever he gets paid is worth it.
  10. You are one of my favourite riders to watch, much more fun to watch than the recent pogo comp videos with squeaky brakes and bull horn bars.
  11. Thanks. It is currently my main bike. I can't afford any newer frames right now. Lol
  12. Yes, still working on them
  13. I rebuilt my first trials bike, 07 Echo Control short, out of nostalgia. So far, I am very impressed with how it rides, considering it has a +15bb.
  14. It is going to get harder and harder to find newer tires on the 26 inch wheels. Even Continental does not offer their top Black Chilli compound for the 26 inches for many of their tires.
  15. Just to be sure, before what year is it considered "retro"? I rebuilt my 07 Echo Control short, which is my first trials frame. I moved back to a +15 bb bike out of nostalgia! Other than that, I am riding on a 7 year old king hub that I got at the start of my trials riding. It's been very reliable.
  16. The front end seems pretty high. How do you like the bar/stem? It is the 130 x 25 right? I would not be surprised if this thing is pretty light. With the rim brakes front and back + narrow rims and tires, this thing should be very light!
  17. Any recommendations? It will be used on a front wheel for a strong mtb rim, so the strength is not much of an issue.
  18. I am planning on buying a matching top and bottom tracksuit for my riding. Any recommendations? Preferrably something stylish that girls like
  19. This is probably my 4th pair that this happened to. I do normally switch to a tracksuit, but sometimes I would just go for a short ride without having to change, and this kind of shit happens. I do know of some people who only ride in jeans. If you are one of them, how do you do it? Do you never open your legs when you ride? Lol.
  20. Haven't been getting a lot of riding done, since I completely snapped my right ACL this July. It sucks big time, but I will be fine. I am waiting to get the surgery done, but I decided to have my bike built anyways since I cracked my old 09 Zoo Piranha. This is a 07 Echo Control short frame that I got when I was 16, 7 years ago. I decided to go back to my first ever trials frame for the sake of nostalgia . This is the frame that I learned how to trackstand, rear wheel hop, pedal kick, and so many things. And it does take me back to my younger years, when I had more free time, and when I had no worries other than riding bikes. I did take her for a ride for the first time today, obviously not doing any power moves. I rolled my bar back for a full street feel since it is a low bb, short wheelbase frame anyways. Hahaha. Definitely, harder to ride on than my old 09 Zoo Piranha long, but I am sure I will get used to it. It does bunnyhop quite well. I am still scared to have some speed on a trials bike. In the end, I will have to adjust my riding style from the rear wheel TGS style moves to the low risk balance lines until I fully recover from my injuries. It sucks, but I am just glad that I can go out on a trials bike. This bike reminds me of my younger years. And unfortunately, my skill level has also gone to my high school years. Haven't weighed it yet, but it does not matter much since the parts on it are already pretty light. I am expecting around 21 to 22 pounds.
  21. Just an update: I got MRI results. And it seems that I have indeed torn my ACL completely and partially my MCL. I did get lucky with the MRI imaging since I did not even have to wait a month to get to it when most people wait up to a year just to get the MRI done. I will opt for the surgery, which has a wait time of 1 year as I was told. But in the meantime, I could strengthen my hamstrings which could compensate for the torn ACL. It was also kind of unexpected since I have been doing some distance cycling, as well as walking, with other activities too (although not as vigorous as trials). So I actually did not think my ACL would be completely torn. Anyways, 1 year is not too much of a big deal, so I will just do some xc riding. Maybe learn the trackstands all 4 ways.
  22. I have visited my physio who told me to start with stationary cycling to get full range of motion back. I have been doing 1 hour of stationary cycling for the past two days, and the range of motion has gotten noticeably better. I live in Canada. And while it is good that the general health insurance will cover the cost of all my medical expanses, there is a lengthy wait time for the MRI shots, as well as the knee surgery. I have been told that the expected wait time of 1 month for MRI, and up to six months for the knee surgery. So yeah, I am expecting a long recovery time. But I should be able to walk properly even without the surgery right? And I am happy to do some xc riding for a while until I get better.
  23. I might have torn my ACL ligament on my right knee yesterday. I am definitely pissed that it was a tiny move that I did not even think about. Anyways, has anyone here had a ACL injury? Were you able to get back to riding at all? Any websites you recommend for exercises in the mean time? I am planning on getting the surgery done as soon as possible.
  24. I cannot post a link for some reason, but look up Yess-labs ETR-V tensioner. Get the one that mounts directly to the derailer hole. I have been using this one for the last 5 years, and it still works great! The problem with the hangers that you mentioned on Tarty is that they mount to the hanger hole, and not the derailer hole. So if the hanger is beant, even just a little bit, your tensioner will not work properly. With the Yess tensioner, the hanger does not have to be completely straight.
  25. Not too long ago, Deng used to make short and long versions of their trial frames up until 09/10. I have an 07 Echo Control short frame that I am trying to build up; and I am wondering how I should build it. From what I understand, these short frames were not too popular since they were not as streety as the Planet X bikes, but they were not as good for pure trials as the long version of the Deng frames either. The current bike I am coming from is an 09 Zoo Piranha long, but I need to change it soon, as that frame is cracked. My current riding style is more of a pogo stick TGS riding, but I am not sure how the 07 Control short frame would do for that kind of "inch hunting" riding? A more modern frame would be nice, but right now I am tight on money. AND I do have a bit of a sentimental connection to the Control short frame since that was my very first trials frame , so I also think it would be nice to go back to my very first frame after 6 years in trials riding. Anyways, I would like to see some picture of the short version of these Deng frame builds, possibly some riding videos too if you have them .
