  1. was at work today and checked it out:in the five years i am working there: trekking: 12 broken alloy frames 1 steel frame mtb: 6 broken alloy 1 steel bmx: steel:none(there were 3 made of alloy,gt power series) all bikes were in the 1000+ euro range, except the bmx bikes. timeline was from 2007 till now(last frame was a fullsus trekking last week) did my part...
  2. mine are here, too. many thanks, tom, will donate soon
  3. i think that was kinda topic related. a lot of the purchases of alu frames are provoked by companies image work wich results in the trends developing. everyone, except dirt bike companies and such, stopped building high quality steel frames, making them the expensive ones. if the same amount of crmo frames were produced as alu frames are this times, they could be even cheaper based on the better availability of base materials for the production of steel. iron is there in a huge bigger amount then bauxit(is it named that in english?base stuff for alu). would steel frames go into mass production in every genre again,it would be the same price-wise. alu is great, you sell it,then sell something new again. steel is boring...it lasts longer as youll like your bike... edit: if you´d just know how many alu frames broke in 60 years of the bike workshop i am working at,and how many steel ones. and thats for trekking
  4. to where is that in your opinion? yeah to burnout syndrome and all that innovations wich make our highspeed lifes that easy would you like to be the guy who adjusts the robot that could spare him rather than the framebuilder who loves what he does ?
  5. have you ever asked yourself the questions why coke, not pepsi? why sony, not cheap taiwan fake? because people buy it. and other people see, that others buyed. and that makes trends. hundred years of bicyle handcrafting with steel vs a few with robot-welded alu. consumption!!! just think about it.... it all just shows in wich times we live
  6. i have only the normal wear stuff,no problems at all. as a bike mechanic i am more passionated about doing maintenance to my bike than other people,i think.... check your bikes once a week and youll be fine.
  7. why categorize myself with the title"my style is tgs,pure,street..."? over the years i did bmx,dj,street, now street trials, for those who need categories. for me it always was just "biking". dont understand it. unsporty people would say i´m trying to destroy my bikes components by doing hops and gaps and spins and... edit:to answer the question of the topic, yes,to my style!
  8. if you feel good at what youre doing it doesnt even matter if its got a name or what you name it.go riding dude!!!
  9. rain, good rider and yes,i like them.sorry couldnt resist to be serious again, alu hasnt got half of the constant oscillation(fatigue as a point) strenght of steel and thats the big difference.a steel frame could be infinitely tensed with a fixed load if its designed for that load(dont beat me for that,it means,if weight didnt matter at all),an alu one is gonna break sooner or later ,no matter how its designed.
  10. you changed a trials oriented frame for a streety one.youll never get the same feeling out of it unless youll put something like a 150x30on,and that would ride awful on a street frame. get used to it,ride flowy and spinny,or switch back to a frame like your old one.my opinion.
  11. what are the differences in geometry of the frame?
  12. seems spot on to me.you could try high risers though
  13. like aryans with war haha. nah, theres talent in all of us,in my case unfortunately not in trials that much. hey,was joking, dont beat!
  14. from standing still to up i use badfoot-goodfoot method. tried goodfoot only and it feels kinda"narrow" if that makes sense. so thats right, its more manualling into it with goodfoot only...
  15. is it possible to get some of these,i am in germany....?! long ones preferred btw
  16. spacers until they reach space lol nice build
  17. Nicolas Moreau´s vid first looked beginnerish, then impressed me.
  18. image.youtube clicks. thats it i think. nah, theyre good, just joking. alu is alu, steel is steel-youll know it when youve ridden both
  19. steel is real TI till u die AL aint that well...
  20. wonder where we all know this from...
  21. i think its all about the hype.steel has that granny bike image, and alu has that world-cup-winning-image.the bicycle industry managed to put it in the heads of the customers, and its a long way back to what really makes sense. back from consumption to handcrafted quality. we´ll have to wait and maybe, just maybe,a trials company with a big name will throw out a street crmo rig. maybe... until then marino or jaf would be my first choices.
