  1. Thank you! Yes, it started as non commercial, just for pleasure but its getting up to speed this last year. Done a couple more models if you want to check vetrabikes. Still in the early stages but it has been a hell lot of fun. Also got this little guy done a while back has a tryout. Kinda of a 00's trials geo with a steep HTa. Not so keen on the steep HTa so I might just slacken from 73.5 to 71 next months.
  2. Thats cool, good to know you're building frames too. Thought you were giving you opinion on fillets in general and not on that specific part of the build.
  3. The builder is called Dave Bohm. Found it on the framebuilders facebook thread. Apparently he wanted a bike to start doing trials with. So he built one himself. Thats all I know. Regarding the smooth fillets the way brazing works is by having a root pass done in which the silicone bronze flow inside of the tube mitter and create a inner fillet. This gives it the strenght, the big outter fillet is pretty much overkill, you would need 2 to 3 times the thickness of the wall tubing in the fillet to make it really sound. From the picture it looks like way much more than that. Id say the tubes buckle way before the weld. I say this from doing test runs on fillet tube. The problem with smooth fillet is actually undercutting the tubing while one smooths it out. That can create problems.
  4. Inspired by AdamR28s post I also would like to share one of my recent builds. Its a called Vetra Chimera and its gravel bike with a classic silloutte, upright position and wide tire clearance, got some vintage parts on it. Its a bike made for long hours on the saddle and to take lots of weight around. Its a custom frame made with fillet brazed columbus tubing, custom stem and custom graphics. It took me around a month to make it, do the decals, mask and paint it.
  5. Beautiful build. well done! Just checked out the bike forum thread. Really cool to see all process. Its always so nice to see people building bike in their own way. I've also dug into broadies videos! They're really good. Specially the alignment series. such simple way to do and to get measurement that make sense in the real world. . Are you planing on building more and getting some tooling like a jig and so on?
  6. Just found this on the framebuilders forum. What you guys think?
  7. Thats sick! uff, those ewings Whats the tubing on this build? reynolds 753? and columbus Zona mix? Is that top tube ovalized 25x38? After riding it, what would you have done diferently?
  8. Nice to read you guys are trying things out. Is there any pics somewhere? For what kind of frame these new tubes are going for? Yeah, service is really good and Peter Evans is a really sound guy. Really helpfull finding specific frame bits in europe. Stuff that is not in the catalog like through axle dropouts and tappered headtubes. @cwtrials A quick "UK frame Builders" google search will get you in the right direction. There's plenty of good UK frame builders. If you want to get a bit more nerdy about it check: https://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum/f11/ It's mainly US but you can find amazing framebuilders from all over the world, UK included.
  9. Just make sure you know exactly which tube thickness at the butts the builder is using. Double butted 0.9 / 0.6 / 0.9mm is pretty good all around on the 2.1kg mark roughly depending on the addons. You can also go for a straight gauge 0.8 downtube for extra dent proof. Just stay away from 0.4, 0.6 and 0.7mm butted tubing. The bigger the diameter the stiffer it the frame gets. 35mm downtube / 28mm or 32mm toptube is plenty. Theres also 42mm DT available. Mtb S bend chainstays are usually in the 0.8 to 1.0mm. If the builder bends his own tubes you can ask to make straight gauge 22mm chromoly 1.0 or 1.2mm thickness walls (bmx type).
