  1. I'm keen for Truro either Saturday or Sunday, I haven't ridden for about 5 years but I dusted off the old Pure last weekend and have been dying to go for a ride again since. Keep the plan posted so I can tag along, Tom.
  2. Hey guys (girls), I've just moved down to Truro on a placement year and could do with the excercise of a bit more trials. If there is anyone out there that i could ride with locally, i would love to meet up sometime. Appologies for the utterly selfish post clogging up the forum. Godspeed, Tom
  3. If there is one thing that frustrates me about trials, it's that there will always be a kid half your age who's twice as good as you. Balls. Nice work young chappy. Tom
  4. I've no problems with my ipod video so far. I love it. The battery life isnt as long as sony's, sure, but then i rarely need longer than 16 hours (about how long mine lasts) music before i can recharge (and the latest sonys are huuuge). The video quality on the small screen is awesome, so much more than i expected it to be. I was surprised by the size when it came too, the smaller clickwheel makes it look bigger in pictures but its pretty much the same width and lenth as my previous ipod, but twice as thin! i've had no probs getting vids and dvds on it, but a film does take about 12 seconds before it plays, as mentioned before (which may annoy some people???)... i have every series of family guy on there, in perfect quality, in 3 gigs ) i've got about 20gigs of music on there, family guy and 17 films and theres still a few gigs left! (note: one charge will play about 4 hours of video) The only problem i have is not being able to slow the clickwheel down, it shuffles a little bit too fast but theres no longer an setting option to slow it down. well, thats my little personal review. Personally, it could have had a pre-pubesent boys choir in the background and I still would have loved it. I see awesome lines and big trickery all edited together simply, and I'm happy. Cheers Rowan, Tom
  6. i was riding, pitty I didn't see you. weather was sweet, i love the summer! Tom
  7. There's something to be said for being able to hold your own to certain extent. I've always been more of a pacifist, but when it comes to some random (with no major weapon) trying to steal my bike... they could be a 7ft rugby player, i'd still get in there untill i had my bike back or hurt too much. Good insurance is so important in our sport. I hope you get it back mate. Tom
  8. it can and does... without going into too much crazy physics, you need to watch a golf ball being hit in slow motion, the the head of the club remains pretty much at a constant speed yet after only milliseconds the ball is a good few foot away from the face... the ball does travel faster than the club head tom
  9. its important to point out though, that the balls top speed is faster than the head of the club. this is due the the face of the driver flexing inward and outward again as the ball hits, which sorta acts like a trampoline. tom
  10. hey, i'll definately be up for a bit of riding later this week. the only problem is i mildly fractured my wrist 2 weeks ago and depending what the doctors say on weds i might be in a cast for a while :) i'll give you a pm if im good to go, if not have a good summer as im off home to bristol for the summer on sunday (Y) tom (echo pure)
  11. I didn't go... its not my sort of thing. But the British food eating competition was held there... and that is! did any one see the comp/know who won?? someone i know was seeded no.1 going into it! tom
  12. bigger disc = more leverage therefore, your braking is better with the same amount of finger squeeze its an amazing disc brake and the 160 is perfectly sufficient, however, you can get a 180 for only 10 quid more, so why not??? tom

    Banksy?

i remember back a fair few years ago when his work starting popping up in bristol, where i think he's from. You really have got to admire a real artist for doing things differently. Tom
  14. 15" powerbook with dvd-r is about 1300 poundies. ouch.
  15. I'm after a computer, it wont be used for games, only media and working. So although I don't need the most powerfull machine... it has to be small and nicely designed (e.g. shuttle or apple). I've been looking into apples and wanted to know what people would recommend. The ibook and mac-mini are cheap but a little lame, the powerbook is good (and the coolest machine you can buy) but very expensive... what are peoples views on the apple range? What would you recommend? Or would you just go for a athlon shuttle for about 2/3 the price? Cheers boffins! Tom
