sounds all cool, you have a 24t chainring on the onza cranks so i think an 18t freewheel will be a nice ratio , you will need a new headset, but dont go nuts and buy and echo one, just get a fsa pig, those headsets are smooth, cheap and best of all built to withstand some stick Ben

got a local bikeshop? go in there and ask for a crank extractor it screws into the threads on the crank arm (where the bolt sits) and then you tighten the other bit and it pushes the crank off of the spindle safely Ben

if you get the python it wont come with bash mounts, so you cant fit a plate. This will work to your advantage as the t-bird crankset has a bashring on and this may rub on the bashplate of the zip Ben
