it's kind of a long story. after looking constantly for days I ended up finding it for sale on facebook, on a local area buy/swap/sell page. me and a friend tried pretending to buy it on a different account but she said a friend asked her to sell it, but has taken it back now" a day later after I lost all leads I started harassing the girl who was selling it, telling her I was going to get the police involved and she had been selling stolen goods and all that jazz. she contacted the guy who realised he'd been caught by me and my awesome P.I. skills and he agreed to leave it somewhere for me to go collect, then I went and collected it fortunately I didn't have to use the baseball bat, it was just a precaution incase he tried to ambush me and rob me a second time. also two of my older, larger, more intimidating family members went around the area braying on peoples doors and causing a commotion... that could've motivated him return the bike

hey I got the bike back, the guy succeeded and returned it. thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it, lots of people were willing to help out and that's how I got it back so quick without really involving the police. thanks again

this is footage of the guy riding off with it tryna get a clearer image from other cameras but so far this it what I have I agree though it took me a while to find out there was no place to post things like this they should really have a pinned thread for stolen bikes, it's not like it's an uncommon thing bikes get taken all the time

thanks for the help people I really appreciate it, I've been told I might be able to claim it on insurance, but that won't get my bike back and I doubt it'll get me close to getting a new one after paying the excess and a mate for his frame bars and stem that I was borrowing when it got stolen

thanks mate I live with my parents and they don't allow me to keep it in the house, worried about me scuffing the walls and floors... it was secure outside though, it was chained and anchored but they cut right through It

thanks not so sure they'd sell a stolen bike in the newspaper but never underestimate the stupidity of a criminal I'll still check it out

I did search, both on here and on observed trials. just found various tips about what type of brake fluid to use (water was never said to not work just that it may compress after a while) thanks for the tip about tar though I'll be sure not to do it haha yeah but he's pissed at me he rides a dirtjump, so he only needed his brakes not to crash and die. so it's not that big of a deal that he doesn't have brakes anymore

I water bled my friends disk brake a while ago (bath bleed) and the bleed went great, but after pulling the lever a couple times the brake ceased on, and wouldn't budge. even when the hoses were emptied out as there was no pressure, it was still fixed in position? I thought I'd done something wrong, and it was my fault. but thought nothing of it, just an bad bleed or something... but then I recently tried it again this time it with a brand new (shimano something) disk brake. exactly the same thing happened? what am I doing wrong? can disk brakes not be water bled?

after riding a 20" I got a 24" then a 26" because I didn't like the feel of the smaller bikes. I'm about the same height as you 6' / 6' 1" I feel a lot more at home on a 26" and things are a lot easier to do

thanks yeah the guy who tapped it before didn't do the best of jobs on it but it worked for a while, so it was ok I guess... but yeah I'll definitely try these helicoils out, it'll be good to have the kit anyway incase something similar happens elsewhere. thanks for the help, I think the hole is 6mm currently so do I get a 7mm tap kit or an 8mm? can't afford the full set, it's like £40. need it to be around £10-15...

oh thanks I don't think I can use a helicoil then. there's no thread left, so I don't think helicoil wouldn't be able to grip. but if it's not too expensive I'll still give it a go. do you know where can I get the stuff to do it from?

ok, so the thread where my Magura clamps screw on has been completely worn down so my master slave cylinder won't stay still = non functioning brakes. I'll upload a picture so it a little clearer what I'm talking about. I'm unsure what I need to to do to sort it. there's no other brake mounts on my frame so hydraulic rim brakes are my only option. the hole has already been tapped once, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea tapping it again? or even if there is room for another tapp? someone meantioned a "helicoil" but I don't really know what that is. I've been told there is a kit of things to tapp but I don't know where to buy that from? as it's so close to Christmas I can't really afford to be buying a new frame. any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I've found that balancing on your rear wheel is just something you get down with practice, like just try on flat ground to stay on your rear whilst moving backwards and forwards as little as possible. you'll get good at that pretty quick. wide tires and a fairly low pressure also make it easier to maintain your balance. get good at that and keeping your front up after gapping will be a lot easier.

maybe work on rear wheel balance. like after you gap, staying on your rear wheel instead of dropping the front. it'll come in handy if you want to do something and there's nowhere to drop your front to.
