  1. GoPro Hero 5 Black. Wife doesn't know it and won't even notice the difference to my Rollei Bullet 5s. Life's good. Only bad thing about it is that my 32GB SanDisk memory card doesn't work with it although it is on GoPros compatibility list. Quick look on the forum showed that I'm not the only one with this problem and GoPro have known about it for weeks and it's still on the list.
  2. Have heard rumors about the UK having bad weather. I actually don't care about the weather as long as it doesn't snow.
  3. A thing that you don't normally hear when winter is coming.
  4. Should. 0.5mm less and the SLX spider would hit my frame.
  5. That's a lot of space to practice on. How high is the ceiling?
  6. So I went to the local park and tried doing bunny hops to front on an 80cm wall. I know it's not very high but I feel confident approaching it and it's just about high enough to get the hang of the technique. I counted the attempts. After 256 bunny hops rolling onto the obstacle and hitting into it, I got one done. Pretty happy about this. What I figured after about 100 attempts is that the run up speed for this height doesn't need to be very fast and going slower helps you placing the front wheel. What's also pretty interesting is that trying to learn this technique helps you learning tyre taps as you are very likely to hit the edge of the wall with your front wheel trying to place it correctly.
  7. Had a look at this already. Thanks. I was just wondering about the take off distance and the weight transfer. It's kinda hard to know when to tilt the bike. When bunny hoping, you stay pretty much in the same position until the rear hits the wall. Edit: Just hat a look at Ali's bunny to front again. It seems as if you stay in the position where the bars touch your hips and then tilt the bike forward.
  8. Inspired by the "How to Hook" thread I was wondering if there were any videos explaining the bunny hop to front. I can do it on a small wall but this is probably only because I already have my front wheel over the edge of the wall and just transfer my weight. I once knew how to do a pedal up to front but cannot transfer this to bunny hoping to front. Am I right that I will have to lift the front wheel earlier than when bunny hoping to rear and that I need to jump more forwards rather than upwards? Any tips on that? I can bunny hop rear up to about 1m which, with the right technique, should make me get up even higher with the bunny hop to front.
  9. Try doing front wheel hops if you can't go on the rear wheel. I suppose the reason why you can't do it is because the garage is too low.
  10. Seems like it didn't take you much time to adapt to the new frame. Very cool vid.
  11. Just put some more money into it and get some 5/10s.
  12. It's more about the curve you ride before actually taking off. A 180° isn't really a 180° but rather a 100° or something. What I found incredible is that if you look over your shoulder when spinning, it works a lot better. You also need to yank the bars in the direction you want to spin and then initiate the bunny hop (this coming from someone who just recently has learned to do 180s).
  13. I tried 110cm and it was too low it's not that I couldn't put the bike onto the wall in the right position but rather the feeling the wall gives you. Since it's only about 10cm less than I can bunny hop, I don't really put much effort into it (going to slow basically). It's a blockade I have so I need to try something bigger. Then again, if it's bigger I'm kinda afraid of hitting the wall with the front wheel at high speed -> another blockade. What is really hard for me is that both wheels have to hit the wall at the same time. Most of the times my rear hits it first, making my front wheel crash down onto the wall. In a way it's very different to a bunny hop to rear.
  14. It actually took me only two real sessions to learn it. You have to be able to do a decent bunny hop though. The first session I did everything wrong. Then I had a look at this video. It's in German though.
  15. I don't think it's below but just onto it and while the front wheel rolls on the edge, you pull yourself up. Since your rear will hit the wall it bounces away from it making a sort of backwards movement which helps you with the pull. This is the only thing I can think of.
  16. So I'm not the only one. I pretty much do that all the time I'm in the air. Bad habit which is hard to get rid of. How high should be the obstacle for trying to learn the hook? I can bunny hop to about 1m. Is 1.20m alright to start learning the hook?
  17. I tried to do some today or actually rather hitting the wall at the right angle. Unfortunately the wall was too low. I kept hitting my bashguard against it as my front wheel got to high above it. My mental blockade is when I have to move towards a wall I know I can't bunny hop. This is even multiplied by the speed you need to to get up that thing.
  18. I love this sport. Two days ago I tried my first 180°s and today, after not having practiced for two days, I still got better at it. I just have to find a small curb I can land on with the rear wheel and make the spin.
  19. @ben_travis Fear of what? The only thing I can think of is hitting the wall with the front wheel. Other than that jumping down backwards doesn't hurt. Actually, I don't wanna know. I'm already afraid of learning them without knowing all the dangers. If @aener writes that speed is a key factor... speed also leaves a lot of room to screw up.
  20. I tried just the run up bunny hop thing just to see how to hit the wall right. It's so hard to not be too far over the wall with the front wheel. When this happens my bashguard already hits the wall making it impossible to do any forward/upward movement. Could you say that, if you got the position of the front wheel right, that what comes after this is some sort of a static hop? This might be a good explanation. I don't know.
  21. @Ali Csaid in on of his vlogs that a brakeless hook is easier. Should try it.
  22. Time for a change on your side then and then you can write something else in this thread.
  23. How's that? I haven't ridden them but the MT5s don't seem to be too different from the MT7. What really bothers me is that the MT5 levers seem to develop play over time. Saint 810 levers don't do that and I think as soon as I get a left hand 810 Lever that I'll run them.
  24. Same thing happened to me. I though that a different bike would make the difference. I swapped more bikes in three years than some in 10. Whenever you swap a bike you have to get accustomed to the new one, which in turn takes away a bit from what you've already learned on the old one. For now, I will try to keep riding my current bike for more than only 3 months (actually have cracked that mark already I think). Let's see how that goes.
