The aluminium iMac has been released since April 2008 meaning the only white computer left is the MacBook, but as Tomm said, they should be going on Tuesday, so if your local Apple store still has white iMacs in then they're outta date. But people associate white with clean, and that's the image Apple is going for, clean, simple, usable computers, which is what I think they are.

How long ago was that? When you were at primary school and upto the age of 18? I've been using Macs for the last 5 years and even then the OS has improved year after year, it's a bit stupid to base your opinion on machines you used when you were a child. When I was a child, we had a C64, it took years to load games and they used to crash all the time, basically, it was shit, but you don't see me slagging off Xbox's and PS3's because I had a bad experience with a C64. I'm not saying you'd love Macs, but if you actually used one which was released in the last few years, then you might change your mind. I don't use a mac because the OS is pretty, or the case is pretty, or whatever, infact I was thinking of building up a Hackintosh machine just because it would be cheaper, I use Macs because I prefer the way they work, their stability, and their simplicity. With regards to a gaming setup, echoing what Grant said, what about editing HD footage? I've read that even with high spec PCs it just can't be done? It just renames them, why is that so much of a big deal, the music is RIGHT THERE on the iPod, what else do you need to do to them!?

But I already have the music on my computer, why do I need to look through my iPod to find it? and if you want it off that bad, grab a copy of iPodRip and chuck it onto the iPod, then whenever you need to get your music off the iPod, you just launch iPodRip, which you already have to hand ON YOUR iPod, and take it off. Compatible with what? There hasn't been a peripheral I've tried to plug into my computer in the last 5 years that hasn't worked, be it an external hard drive, video camera, digital camera, usb stick, etc. I don't see what else you would really need to plug in? It seems to me that you've used a handful of macs for a few minutes at a times and all of a sudden they're all shit, but thats because you're used to a PC. I can guarantee that you weren't able to grab a keyboard and mouse for the first time on a PC and be able to do everything you can now? That's like learning to drive a car, then getting in a plane and being like THIS IS SHIT IT DOESNT GO. I'm not saying that Macs are as complicated as planes, but they are slightly different to PCs in the way that they work. If you were given a Mac to use for a week, I bet you wouldn't come back shouting ITS SHIT ITS SHIT, you would probably actually like it. All my friends who were PC users who now use Macs all say they would never go back to PCs, and that's probably around 25-30 people, especially people in my graphics class. I once read an article about Scott Hansen (iso50.com). He has been using PCs all of his life and dismissed Macs. He then got hold of a cracked copy of Leopard and setup his PC to dual boot into OS X, he then said that after getting used to the GUI and the way the OS works, that his next computer would be a Mac, surely that has to say something about them? Also the fact that Apples notebook market share keeps rising, if they were that shit, that wouldn't happen. You shouldn't have to, which is why there are numerous applications on OS X which allow MSN connectivity, four that spring to mind are MSN Messenger for Mac, Adium, aMSN, Mercury Messenger. Also you can't blame Apple for the fact that Microsoft still haven't been able to get webcam compatibility even though they've come installed in pretty much all Apple computers for the last 3 years. Apple falling behind? As I just said, thats why their market share keeps growing, and they keep opening more and more retail stores in cities, okay then... Oh and there is shit loads of open source software for the Mac, infact, if you purchase Leopard, on the DVD it comes with Developer Tools, allowing ANYONE to start writing their own OS X software.

EDIT: Also why is it Apples fault that YOU can't set up your ID3 tags in iTunes properly, I would have thought that anyone who actually cares about listening to music would have it organised properly on their computer, so the correct artist, album and track name, in the ID3 tags, rather than just naming it "Artist - Song Name.mp3", I can't think of anything worse. I'd much rather have Artist Folder > Album Folder > Track Name.mp3. All my music is in MP3 format, and I've had an iPod for the last 4 years, and it's always been fine, so I don't know what you're complaining about...

Because they didn't need it. You don't have to, they've come with a 2 button mouse since October 2005. Oh and if the only problem you can find with them is that "They don't come with a two button mouse" then I wouldn't have said they had that many flaws, really. People complain about the price, but I much prefer the build quality of a Mac over a PC. Most PC laptops, even high end ones come in crappy plastic cases, they weigh a ton and the battery life is awful, gimme a nice aluminium MacBook Pro any day. I've only owened my own Macs since 2003 wish I had used them for longer Oh and right click... have you used an Apple computer in the last what... 2.5/3 years? Even if you still have a one button mouse you just hold control, and for laptops, you just put two fingers on the trackpad and click (you also use two fingers to scroll). Not really that much of a pain in the ass.

4 Macs in my house, 2 of which belong to me.

You can really get the 661 ones done up tight. A mate of mine wears them and when he takes them off after riding the rest of his leg is about 1cm bigger either side because he does the ankle brace up so tight. I reckon you would be alright with them Dave, just don't expect to be able to go huge. Maybe get an XC/road bike just to build up some strength? I dunno much about ankles but I would have thought that would probably help, just getting used to the motions and everything again.

I only use 2 desktops anyway. Then again I do have dual monitors, but even before that, max i had was three. One for working (PS/Illust/Textmate) One for Safari/Adium One for Mail/Missing Sync. Now I just have One for working (PS/Illust/Textmate) and Safari/Adium on laptop screen, and one for Mail/Missing Sync.
