  1. Remember driving obscene amounts of miles from Hudds to Essex and back to ride around in Clay Bogs - Mid Essex Gravel Pits and not a piece of gravel in sight!! Quality road trips with Holroyd, Swallow, Hyland and Howes though. Trying to get your bike as light as possible 21lb was my lightest. Latex tubes, titanium crank bolts, super light spokes - (radially laced of course), 4 hope Ti bottom brackets - all bent! Race-face carbon Next LP cranks! X-lite titanium skewers (they bent too) etc etc When the 'rules' changed in the British Rounds so EVERYONE had to have ankle protection - funny how it only lasted a year (after everyone had bought shitty Monty boots from........oh yeah, the people who run the championship and set the rules!!!) Still pisses me off!! When you could fly your bike to the worlds on Easyjet without having to pay extra! Mrs Matthews in Essex "That's a 5" - lovely woman. IRC Mud Mad Tyres (for above mentioned 'gravel pit' trials) - and trying not to die on every log in sight. The essex Team Trial. Inventing new moves by accident cause there was nowhere to look for inspiration! Breaking 11 xc frames. Giro exodus helmets (is that right - or was it an E2?) X-lite bar end plugs (aka car scratchers) Flite Titanium Saddles - they were the ones to have before no saddles! Old XT v-brake parallelogram shim kits to get rid of the slop - did anyone ever fit one successfully?! Old school DMR V12's Good old days man.

  3. Sounds good, Just moved to Bristol in last month or so. Explored a bit but sure there's still plenty for me to find. Not a 100% as may have a friend down that wkend but if i'm free i'll come. Is it TM @ 11 then?? Cheers Adam
  4. At 21 i paid £1K for a Mk2 Golf GTi fully comp with elephant.com Now with Lloyds TSB as were more competitive with 1 yr NCB Direct line can also be good too. Depends on your circumstances as to which company will be best for you so what's good for your mates may be poo for you - get on't t'interweb and suss it out. Its worth spending a day at it if you're gonna save a few hundred quid! Also try and avoid paying in installments as some charge 30% APR - you'd be better off dropping your pants and bending over than paying that! If you can't afford that a credit card will often be at a better APR (So long as you PAY it!!! Check out moneysavingexpert.com for some savvy £ note advice! Also if you've a 60year old granny with 765years NCB bang her on the policy too even if she'll never drive it. A named driver spreads the risk so lowers the premium. Black magic this insurance Jazz!
  5. Lol, brings a smile to my face reading stuff like this. Think us TK's are firmly embedded in the history of the sport now. Bit of an update on what i'm up to lately as its all a bit vauge here in the 'ether'! I didn't get married, somethings in life aren't meant to be. I had mingin back problems that pretty much cut me out of the scene in one fell swoop, i guess all those big gaps and big drops etc took their toll! :( My back is ok now though and i'm slowly getting back into the scene. More just for the love of it than to go doing the sickest moves! Its funny how easily you do get back into it though even after what seems like an age of hardly riding. I go riding with Holpond and CLS, more often in the future but just getting my eye back in at the mo'! Along with Chris Swallow i've started doing demo's - just to share our sport with the public really. Its a good laugh and people enjoy it - look out for us at a show near you! Just finished my chemistry degree - graduate in a few weeks. Spawned a 1st somehow! Not arguin though' :D Still love watchin the old vids - what a talent James has got. He should be in Hollywood! So there's Danny who's doing sweet - new deal with 24/7 and custom frame on the way Chris and myself still riding sharing the sport with Joe Public. James - natural King Dave Finney - no longer working at halfords, he's off back to college to study. Steve Howes - he's even invisible to us lot so who knows!! Think he's doin ok though. See him in town every now and again.
