  1. Was there actually a website? I didn't think it quite made it. But we don't need a website, FBM is an ethos

^^^ I think that might be a good place to leave it for now. I'm not going to close the topic but please lets not have any more arguments, it's obviously a difficult day.
  3. There's not much you can do with iMacs in terms of the graphics. They're not built to be upgraded. But it's a fairly new computer, should run those games OK, perhaps not at full res though. Certainly the sims will be fine.
  4. That's usually the best plan

    Getting Fit

That would be the 'medical' definition of muscle tone - but that's certainly not what most people think of muscle tone. They're two completely different things. If you say someone's well-toned, you aren't referring to the fact that they're not a spastic*. I'm with Bondy on this - to most people, tone is what the muscle looks like from outside and is a combination of having a reasonably-sized muscle and not much fat around it - I.e. they look healthy. * Spasticity means an increase in muscle tone which comes as part of certain neurological diseases (E.g. stroke, cerebral palsy).

Climbing seems to be pretty good for burning fat and making upper body strength. I'd much rather go to a climbing wall than join a gym. That's a rubbish chin up bar. You need POWERBAR

    Getting Fit

I have no idea what gets metabolised first in this regime, as I said. It's supposed to be a way of burning fat quickly (NOT building up muscle), and you'll probably lose some muscle as an inevitable consequence. Simply fasting doesn't really help burn fat as protein is metabolised first. However, perhaps when exercising fat will get burnt as the body realises it needs to keep hold of protein and switches to fat metabolism. I don't know, but the idea has obviously come from somewhere. I never said it was a good idea

Here's a bit of info for the naysayers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonk_(condition) It doesn't say it's not dangerous though

Yes, obviously. But the reason this regime works is because there is no 'fuel' (blood glucose) available so your body shifts to metabolising other things - which would be either fat or protein. Usually protein metabolism is used before fat when you don't eat (I.e. proteins broken down and converted to energy) so I'm not quite sure about the actual way this diet works. But it is recognised.

    Getting Fit

Do you actually want to 'get fit' or lose weight, or gain muscle? (Or all three I guess?) Apparently quite a good way to lose weight (fat) is to exercise or cycle to school/work/wherever first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. And then eat breakfast as soon as you finish/arrive. Something to do with low blood sugar levels in the morning, so any exercise is really hard work. I can see it working though - I went out on an XC ride before dawn (on an empty stomach) the other day and my legs were dead half way up the first climb. There was no pain, and I wasn't out of breath, my legs were just like jelly. Really weird. So, er, yeah it might actually be doing something clever. I say just eat sensibly - fill up on fruit and veg stuff and don't eat too much badness. And then just do a bit more exercise in the day. I realised recently that my road bike's done over 2000 miles over the two years I've had it. Think how many calories that must have burnt!
  13. VW Transporter. One day I will have one and then it'll be road trip-o-rama http://www.banwygarage.co.uk/charlie2007_0831_041335AA.JPG For actual posh cars I've always liked Astons, but like someone said, they're quite common these days

Because we haven't got all the money in the world, duh
  15. That gap to the wooden handrail, turn, along, turn, gap thing was awesome. Nice video
  16. Does indeed look like a Cool Spot
  17. I suspect what you saw was someone doing 40" sidehops and 7ft gaps, whereas now people are doing 50"+ sidehops and 9ft gaps. It all looks pretty similar but it's technically much more advanced these days.
  18. At least the first 10 hits on google refer to the program
  19. You really have to try shoes and stuff on, so online isn't the best option. I've bought all my stuff from Cotswolds - they have sales really often in the ones near me but if you can't catch a sale then they're not that cheap... As for online shops I don't really know, sorry!
  20. Nope. I figure that most scallies can't afford eggs.
  21. Nope, I don't know where to buy one online but I'm sure you can find somewhere (I'm not going to look for you ). These look the same/similar though: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17778 THIS looks good, but only goes up to 15t
  22. I thought what he actually said was that everyone should have fun and ride in whatever they liked - he didn't want to discourage people from riding of course. But what he said originally still stands - people looking gimpy don't do the sport any good. It's all tied in with this inch-pinching thing that everyone has been up to. If tracksuit trousers help you get that extra few mm on a sidehop then people will think they're a good thing, no matter how stupid they look.
  23. I simply won't answer the doorbell. Simple but effective.
  24. Yup, never anything else for me. Martyn Ashton had a rant about this in MBUK a few months back - saying basically that if trials ever wants to be cool, then people need to change their look. You'd never catch a BMXer in Adidas trackies and pixie boots, and look which sport is 'cooler'.
