I don't really like the idea of spending £20 on a Surly cog when you can get a Shimano one for £4 which is basically the same. The 'digging in' thing is over-rated. It just makes it harder to swap sprockets about, but it's not like you do that every day so it's not a problem.
-
Slightly on the same subject: What the hell is all this 'Penny for the Guy' thing? It seems like it's just an excuse for little scrotes to beg for money as well as chocolate when they trick or treat. There were some scallies with a guy sat on the steps outside my flat getting in my way... I just couldn't work out why they thought I should give them money?!

You can do all those things. But it's not advisable. Single cassette sprockets are ok but they have shifting ramps and other bits you don't need need, plus the teeth aren't as deep as on single speed sprockets - to allow for shifting. But it will certainly work as a temporary measure. But I'd definitely get a Shimano DX sprocket (Or a King Kog if you're feeling rich) at some point. The shimano ones are pretty cheap. As for the chains - again you can use the SRAM one but it's not going to be that strong. Gears or no gears, you should get a stronger chain. You can still use the Tiagra mech no probs - even with a KMC kool chain (wide) it still fits fine

... Which is what I said several days ago

So the upgrade disk works on more than 1 mac? Seems odd. Anyway - was the £58 from the Apple store, or online or what?
-
Works for me fine on CS2, I use it all the time. They'd be stupid to remove that, it's one of the main ones!

That's complete rubbish I'm afraid. If you try it (And I have), the foam compresses to nothing as soon as you put any air in the tyres. So it's then just added weight. The only thing that really works is a good tyre, with thick sidewalls. Maxxis dual ply are your friend
-
Yeah, exactly. I think the Apple shop prices are the same as online so now I don't know.
-
I don't get why people say that. I've hard Chris Kings for over 4 years on my trials bike, and I've never once done any maintenance. Whereas I ran a Hope XC for a year and needed a few new bits for it (spring, pawls etc). Fair enough, Hopes are pretty good. Solid hubs for sure. But Chris King do feel like a higher quality item. Considering a Pro II is about £130 and you can get Kings off Aspire for £180, the difference in price isn't too bad.

That's what I meant, archive and install. What's the student pricing for Leopard? I have heard different things.
-
Hmmm, that sounds very easy. To be honest I probably will buy it. It just looks so purdy!
-
Do you reckon Leopard's worth it then? I'm tempted to get it for my G4 Powerbook (1.5), not sure if it would be slow though. Hmmm. Also, you know the upgrade, I know it can keep all your files etc, but does it keep apps as well? I may take a trip to the apple shop tomorrow and play with the shininess

Bongo on here had 4 teeth done, I think they cost him about a grand each. Maybe there's a discount when you buy more than one
-
The best thing to do is to take all of the cassette sprockets off, except the one you use for trials. You'll need some cassette spacers though. (Even better, buy a single sprocket, E.g. Shimano DX, which will be stronger and better). Then shorten the chain to the shortest possible. You can still run a mech - they tension really well.

It's a no-brainer. £100/month is all your bills paid for (water/gas/electricity/internet/food probably). Just spend a day with some tins of paint, I'm sure there will be some people who can help. Unless you're minted and can afford to throw away £100 a month, which I doubt.
-
That is pretty annoying. But check out this: http://gimpshopdotnet.blogspot.com/ It's basically the GIMP, made to look like Photoshop (and share the same shortcuts).
-
Drop gaps are fine IMO - but only when people can actually ride a trials bike. No point running before you can walk. If you need to ask then you probably aren't ready...

I would have always said coffee. But this week I have been enjoying my tea more than usual so it's a close one. Plus tea is dead easy and quick to make whereas I don't do instant coffee so it takes ages It's in the balance at the moment. I reckon coffee tips it though.

I'm pretty sure the 6800 LE is just that - an underclocked GT with some pipelines disabled (and perhaps different cooling). Hence a firmware flash and it actually does become a GT. I think - it's been a while since I was a geek. But this isn't really the point as he's got a 6600.

The Pure is lovely. Anyway, here's mine from a few years back. I'm still on the lookout for it! (It was stolen )
