  1. My friend had exactly your symptoms - although when his went fast, he got feint and felt ill. But he had what is called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. I'd get it checked out - an ECG will diagnose it easily (even if it's not going fast at the time). PM me if you want to know any more.
  2. A new bar/and or stem can really change things and improve it for the better. I don't know what the stock setup is on a Zoot, but I can tell I run a 90-100mm stem and (Easton monkey, I think) bars with a good 1.5" of rise, as well as a few stem stackers. What stem does it have at the moment (length-wise I mean)? Higher front end = better for me. A 145 stem would be far too long I think. Since it's more of a streety bike, I would stick with normal a MTB stem and riser bars, but you could try trials bars if you really wanted. The headset is actually pretty good in them, I'm not sure why you would even consider upgrading it (Mine is currently in my XC machine since it's loads better than the one that came with the bike).
  3. Fair enough, I think that's your choice. I personally am not bothered about seeing that sort of thing. I mean I wouldn't actively look for it, but then again I would probably watch it if I stumbled across it. I think people are naturally curious though - everyone likes to look at car crashes but they know they shouldn't, so most people keep their eyes forward in case they are judged by other people. I say look - it's human instinct so it's stupid to ignore it.
  4. I don't think it is natural. It's man-made stuff in the main arena I think?
  5. Er, why does it matter what the headset is like? It'll be a cheap bike so the headset will be cheap and pretty rubbish, but it will work. Similarly the pedals aren't exactly the most important thing since they're easily changed anyway.
  6. Get your GCSEs. Like other people have said, it's only a year and you NEED 5 A-Cs for just about any job that requires you to be more than a trained chimp. I'm not quite sure how anyone knows what they want to do aged 16, so you're limiting your options a bit by having no GCSEs.

    New Ipods!

The new touch ones are 7mm thick... Which is less than any other 'proper' ipod, so it not exactly huge.

    New Ipods!

Until it can run Windows Mobile apps or Palm apps, I'm not interested really. My Windows phone does everything the iPhone does really, and it also has GPS and can run Tomtom/memory map, as well as all my Windows mobile apps etc. Until the iPhone can do that I'm not really interested. I don't think I would ever use 160Gb either, but 80 would be nice

That's not a PDA though... If Apple did release a PDA, I'd probably buy it in a snap. But their iPhone and iTouch things are not the answer, since they don't run other applications really (yet). The iTouch looks lovely, but 16GB really isn't enough for my music, let alone any videos. If you've got a device like that you need to be able to put everything on it. The iPhones are apparently coming out in the UK in December on three networks, can't remember which ones. Might be Orange, O2 and Vodaphone? The reason they were only released in the US is just because of supply problems - they didn't want it to be out of stock everywhere I guess.

That touch thing looks like an awesome toy but it certainly actually be that useful to me. However, the 80Gb iPod 'classic' at £159 is a real bargain. It's got an anodised alu front now instead of plastic, too.
  11. Most 'normal' pedals (I.e. bog standard caged pedals) have holes for the straps, and the clips bolt onto where the reflector goes. Although my road bike actually came with some integrated pedals - they look like this: I.e. they're flats but you couldn't really use them without the clips. I don't want 'em. Offers?
  12. As of this year (2008 bikes), Cannondale have stopped using the Lefty on their 'all mountain' or 'freeride' bikes. Now it's only on the XC bikes. So obviously they've got some sort of strength/durability/stiffness issue.
  13. Changing tyres every time you want to ride is annoying though, changing wheels slightly less so. But bear mind that you will need tyres and cassette and rotors for this plan. An XC bike with some 1.5” or so slicks would be pretty fast on the roads. Not as fast as a road bike (on road) but then far more versatile. May I make a suggestion? See my signature £280 to you. Then put the rest of the money towards a road bike in the future – I’ve got a Carrera Valour road bike which is pretty decent.
  14. A mate of mine has some Leftys and they've been back 3 times in the last year, they just don't cope very well with 1) British dirt and 2) people that actually ride their bikes as opposed to fat middle aged people who just look at them. Like you say though, very nice when they're working.
  15. I don't particularly hate the look, but I just think it's stupid. I don't mean to second guess the designers, but it really looks like a pointless hump.
  16. You might want to mention Nikon/Canon fanboys in your post, Charlie.
  17. It was a UK shop, yes. And it has to be in stock, and add on delivery costs. I'm not sure they're even doing the offer any more - they were advertising it loads when I got mine, but I haven't seen anything suggesting that they do it 'officially'. Good idea, there are too many 'What SLR' topics about. Although what about the Nikon D50?
  18. On the BBC breakfast news today, there were doing an article about the Fort William World Champs (This weekend) and the sports guy (Chris) was up there riding XC. There were some pictures of the XC and some of the 4x, but no trials or DH. Anyway, they were chatting about it, and he was talking about all the different events, explaining a bit about them. It was something along these lines:
  19. Yeah, it was free when I signed up, but they changed the T&Cs a few months back. But now they've changed it back to what it was, apparently (interest free after you graduate, up to £1500).
  20. Haha yes, exactly what I was thinking. Everyone knows what a rim grind is, so it's clearly the Dad who doesn't really have a clue. With regards to the axle end bit - that obviously should have been included. It sounds like the Dad again doesn't really know what he's talking about because it sounds as if he means that the freehub should pull off (which is true). It's nothing to do with whether it's got a cassette on. 'Competition use leaves dents' - well yes if you're a harsh b*****d. Either way, if the rim has been raped as much as that, they should have said in the item description. Seems like Dad doesn't actually know that much but still feels able to patronise you. I'd demand a refund, or threaten to report him to eBay.
