How Do I Make My Internet Connection Secure..

Well they'll also be able to get onto any network shares you have etc. But the most important thing is that is does nothing to protect your credit card details etc. -

Errrr, maybe. I don't know an awful lot about it. But MAC filtering isn't really security at all because like I said earlier - anyone else can just mimic that MAC. -

Great. But as explained a few posts earlier, that's a pretty dumb idea and does nothing to protect your data. -

Joe, out of those choices it doesn't really matter what you use, as long as you know what you've chosen. From what I've heard, 64 bit WEP can be hacked in a matter of an hour or so (of constant internet traffic), whereas 128-bit will take more than 10 hours to decrypt. I think most routers change the exact encryption every hour or so anyway, so 128-bit WEP is quite good. WPA is better still, but some (older) wireless cards don't have WPA so you can't use that. Since a lot of people leave their home network unsecured, people probably won't bother to hack your secure one. Bottom line: Use 128-bit WEP if you're not sure. MAC filtering is only so other people can't steal your broadband (and I guess join your home network if you have one). It doesn't really add THAT much security since you can change your MAC address to anything you want - so someone could mimic your MAC address and join the network without hassle. Hiding the SSID is a good idea, because to hack the WEP, you need to know the SSID. Hiding it just adds another layer of difficulty for anyone trying to join the network. Also, it's best to change it from the default one (netgear, linksys, G604T etc). If you can be arsed to set it all up, WEP/WPA + MAC filtering + hide SSID = plenty secure enough. At the very least you need WEP/WPA to stop your credit card details being stolen. -
Whether you've done it in the past is not really the point though is it, Danny? Your post seems to suggest that you think random acts of violence are OK - Something that 95% of people on here will disagree with. It's also got nothing to do with how violent the area you live in is. The fact that most of the topics you post in seem to turn into arguments should tell you something. Topic closed. P.S. For the guy whose birthday it was - Happy birthday. Sorry, but this needs to be closed.

That sort of reply isn't very helpful for the people that HAVE stressed about exams. I should know, I always used to be like that. Some people are just different and saying 'just stress less' isn't much use to them People are born to be good at exams, or not. Deal with it. Just like people are born to be amazing at football, or born to try hard and do well, or just to be an all-round clever clogs.

It's obviously a bit f**ked and the guy has ripped you off. But like Krisboats said, it's probably salvageable assuming the ratchet is still OK. Those marks on the freehub happen when the axle bends slightly on drops etc and the ratchet digs into the freehub as the whole thing flexes. It's a sign of (ab)use but there's nothing wrong with it as such, the damage is only cosmetic (and you don't see it anyway). With the springs - I just got some from my LBS for free. I'm not convinced about using Biro springs. I remember a few people who used other springs like a biro, or stretched the springs for a louder hub, ran into problems. At the very least a new pawls + springs set is £12 I think so that should sort you out. I'm not sure what the washer is you're talking about - I don't think Hope XCs have them?

It depends where it hurts and how much. If you can describe it a bit better then we can give you an idea, but you should probably get it checked out.

I work as secretary in the holiday and although I find it better than a lot of jobs, I can't comprehend for a minute the thought of doing it for the rest of my life at all. Another 40+ years? No thanks. I've been here two weeks and I've already got my work down to a fine art (allowing me extra TF time per day), I could do this for another 40 years and nothing would change at all... Luckily I'm not going to be doing this for the rest of my life

mmot? My name is rubbish

That would be turbo-easy to do.

I'm on NTL/Virgin and I have no complaints. But I am pretty sure you need to sign a year contract.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but $200-300 Aus is only about £80-130 ish so you'll struggle to get much for that sort of money. It will have to be second hand for sure.

Er ok. That isn't the best way - sidehopping off the back wheel will get you more height regardless of what bike you're riding. Perhaps you don't want to do the whole 'tuck' thing but like 26inch says, you might find it easier going to front wheel or something.

I'm after some tools (tools are great) and I can't really get to B&Q or similar so I was wondering if you can buy online? Presumably you can save money this way too? The only place I know is Screwfix and they don't have quite what I'm after. Basically I'd like to buy: A big spanner, probably adjustable, for a BB tool (I.e. > 1.25" or 32mm jaws) A blowtorch Some degreaser spray Maybe a Torque wrench? For fun Any ideas where I should go?

FFs, you know the rules and you're deliberately breaking them. It's just more work for me and it's not like you're going to get away with it. Warned. When I got my iBook it was about 20%. You really shouldn't buy ram from Apple though.

Where did you hear that from Matt? I'm with HSBC and I'm about 2k overdrawn. I won't graduate for another 2 years though
-
You can change it to JPEG/whatever if you so wish - it's in the grab application options.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if they tweaked it for XC rather than trials. The BB7 is a bit of a weird brake - it's super grabby which is great for trials but not amazing for XC. Also since it undercuts the cost of their Hydro brakes considerably, they don't want to make it much better... Also regarding the CRC comments - I think the people at CRC ask themselves questions on some things. So it'll just be a stock disc brake question that they got a bit wrong!
