This one was a 15 seater. 2.9 Diesel (non-turbo, so sloooow), R Reg, 80k on the clock, I think it cost £1300. Bargain. It got to the Alps, didn't quite make it all the way back though!

Is this thread just about saying something clever, even if it's completely out of context? That's what it looks like so far - just a jumbled mess of people trying to look clever. Frankly, I want in: The square of the length of the hypoteneus of a right-angled triangle is equal to the sum of the squares on the opposite sides.

Yeah yeah I know all that, but we're not talking about anything travelling faster than the speed of light. We're just talking about one photon's speed relative to the other one. This doesn't require anything to actually travel at the speed, which is why I don't see the problem and I'm sure the question is just worded slightly wrong. P.S. If a plane was on a giant treadmill and the speed of the treadmill matched the speed of the plane's wheels... No, he's not saying that. He's saying you should imagine it as a 2 dimensional structure, and that's the sort of idea. But in our universe it's actually in 4 dimensions. When you start trying to imagine stuff in greater than 3D, it becomes VERY hard, I certainly can't do it. The balloon analogy just simplifies it to a point we can understand.

No piracy is allowed. Clarky, please take more time over your spelling etc.

Yeah. I usually stick the bolt in the star nut as it's easier to line that up straight. Hammer the bolt (not too hard in case you strip the threads though).

Oh you big tease

Closed, obviously.

Yeah, my mate did that for a road trip. He bought an old LDV transit-style thing (LDV are the lowest of the low when it comes to Vans), ripped out some seats, and went on a 9 person bike road trip to the alps. So 9 people, camping stuff, 12 bikes and a load of spares. I doubt Ali needs something that big though!

I don't follow that at all - I think you're missing a crucial part of the argument? My polo can travel at 120mph, no faster. It it impossible for it to go faster (in the same way light cannot go faster than its max speed). An identical polo comes in the opposite direction. Both cars are doing 120mph. As they pass the relative speed is 240mph. It's a paradox, it's not something that can easily be explained.

It'll require drivers. You should be able find them on the HP website. Is it an 'official' Vista upgrade or just one you've done yourself?

I thought the universe was infinite and expanding. Which leads to the impossible question 'What is it expanding into?'. By the way, they know the universe is expanding due to the Hubble equation and Doppler shift. Stars in the distance appear red due to 'red shift' - this indicates that they are moving away from us. It's pretty basic really, no philosophy required.

What cjskate said is probably feasible, but I've never tried it. You'd be creating what's called an 'Ad Hoc' network between your two Macs. However, I think it's designed to work the other way - I.e. sharing one ethernet connection to the internet with another computer over the wireless. If you get me?

It's the reflection of the chain you numpties.

Difficult isn't the same thing as 'good' though. I'm sure it's VERY hard to do, but why didn't they just film someone riding normally?! And the voice thing like Phil mentioned - wtf?

Paint is wet. Then it dries. As it dries, the liquid portion (which makes up most of the weight) evapourates.
-
Most of the spray is propellant I think - or something else. Either way it evapourates or something and doesn't find its way onto the bike. A full (good quality - thick!) paint job (primer, colour, laquer) weighs about 200g I think.

Oh my God They are awesome. They look like something Napoleon Dynamite might wear. I'm still laughing.

Watch your mouth young man!

I think that's the official line. Leesons have straight chainstays, so to get the tyre clearance you need a very wide BB shell.

I've got one with a charger and holder (random eBay special) and it's pretty rubbish. The holder is OK, but the connection to the fag lighter is really sketchy and if you knock it slightly, it loses power, and you have to turn it on again and retune. Pretty annoying. However, I fixed it by putting a power cable on it - rather than the jack which was part of the iPod holder - this works much better, as it's a lot harder to knock now. Charging the iPod off the car is really useful too. The main problem, though, is that interference changes in different parts of the country. For example if I'm driving around Manchester, I can use a frequency I know that works all the time (88.3 if you're interested). But if I drive anywhere else (E.g. on the motorway), that changes and I need to retune every few minutes - really annoying! A direct jack would be 10 times better. Even those tape adaptor things would be better.

Like you can talk about avatars... Yours is terrible.

That's what they're trying to find out... The reason it's so much money is that it's a risk to your life/ mind/ penis. Obviously it's a very small risk, but if there was no risk they wouldn't pay so much! Nick, have a looksie HERE about the different phases.

Yeah, pretty sure marijuana is traceable up to 30 days. MDMA is much less, maybe up to a week. I'm not sure if they will test for it or what. They may do, and you'd be screwed if they found it - they'd just chuck you off with no money I'd imagine. There are various levels (phases) of trials - from you being the first time a human has ever taken the drug (= LOTS of money), to working out the dose at which side-effects appear (could be unpleasant if you get some) to when they know the dose and they're sure it won't kill you but they need to prove it actually works better than existing treatment (Sounds like what Janson did). Basically, the more money, the more risk. Up to you, but just be warned that you don't get £250 a day for doing nothing! I would still probably take that risk, though, personally.

I think you mean Parallels, and the answer's no. That requires a Mac with an Intel processor, so anything in the last year or so. The first iMac you posted is way too old for it. Yeah, I agree with this really. My Powerbook is a 1.5GHz, 768Mb ram etc. It's great for what I use it for (Internet, music, word processing, being small) but it does struggle with anything complex like Photoshop or similar. If you halve the spec (As with that iMac) it would laugh at you for trying to start iMovie, I'm sure. Having said that, you could get a decent Mac mini for £400 - assuming you've already got a screen + mouse + keyboard. The Intel ones do, the older ones don't.
