Yeah the only difference between front and rear brakes is the noodle. The 135 degree one is just better for the front in a lot of cases.

lol Ed, way to lower the tone. Slightly less evolved? Maybe some now-extinct species similar to Gorillas or Orangutans? I'm not an evolutionary biologist though, I don't know!

What's the screen alignment set to? I bet that's what's wrong? Errr, that isn't a good CPU speed. It's fairly comparable to PCs really, maybe a bit faster. So perhaps that Apple is comparable speed to a PC with a 1.2GHz CPU or similar. Either way, that old mac is not going to win any prizes for speed.

I don't know what AA is, but no. Since when have Macs EVER been good for games? Plus that's pretty old so it'll be rubbish for movie editing too...

I swim with my contacts in if I forget to take them out. The problem isn't infection (that has never happened) - it's losing them. I always lose contacts when I go swimming. Unless I consciously make an effort to keep my eyes shut underwater. Either way it's not going to kill you and if you wear daily disposables and put glasses on afterwards, I can see no problem at all. Just be aware that you could lose them, and if you're really blind that might be serious

Same thing, and you know it.

Nah that's not great to be honest. I might pay like £220 for it but no more (and that's mainly because it looks nice, not because it would be fast). It'll be at least 3-5 years old. Bluetooth - Almost certainly not. It was an optional extra on iMacs until last year I think (when it became standard), so there's an outside chance. Airport - slightly more likely but again I think it will have been an optional extra. See HERE. It should do dual screens, yes. It's got OS X Panther which is OK, but once Leopard comes out (soon) there will be less and less support for Panther as it will be old compared to Tiger and Leopard. I'm not quite sure where you've got dual screen issues from Boats - I certainly haven't had any - it works flawlessly on mine. Maybe this is something from the olden days? Panther? Ram is just the same price as for any other computer, but it depends what type you need. You can use the Crucial memory chooser thing (Google it).

Who is this guy, how come I never heard of him? Sweet riding. Real nice. That up-to-front on a rail then endo off it was so cool. Although did anyone think at one point he was going to do a HUGE drop-gap and he was just backhopping on the wall? That was lame. P.S. Does the Hydroxx have a bent top tube? I swear it looks like it in some shots in that video. Maybe he just bent it, lol.

So does geometry though. Half the people on this forum change their frame every year (or more) anyway, for no real reason other than they fancy a change. Good colours are good. Bad colours are bad. The T-Rex, Zoot, T-Pro are all bad colours. Fact!

Don't get the M4 - Get either the Juicy or a Hope Trial brake (or of course the BB7 and save some money). I run a Juicy and I love it, can't fault it at all. The power of a BB7 but with decent modulation, plus a nice lever feel. Pretty similar to the Hopes and a good deal cheaper. It might be worth considering the Juicy 5 also - I don't know how they compare to the 7s in terms of power (they should be similar), but I think the main difference is the 'bite-point adjustment' on the BB7s, something I've never really used on mine.

Unless you're a yogi in which case you can get your energy from Prana, yes. I think that we share a common ancestor years back - I.e. Chimps went one way, we went the other. Now I'm not saying that chimps are as intelligent as humans (they're not) just that the difference is not as great as you might have thought. Either way, give it a few million years and it'll be interesting to see how intelligent the chimps are (That is if we haven't wiped them off the face of the earth for being a thread...).

Well like I say, that's my business and no one else's really. I could very well ask why you do eat meat - although I don't really care! Nor should you be bothered about what I do. But since you ask: That's interesting. I think that is fairly close to the reasoning behind me choosing not to eat meat, but expressed much more eloquently than I can come up with myself. Since you said earlier that you would be more upset if your hamster died than a lot of people from a different country (Fair point), how would you feel about eating human flesh - from the same people who you don't care about? Try telling people that there are chimps with the intelligence of your average toddler and they're not impressed. Even less so if you mention Madelleine McCann... Danny Wallace (funny guy) did a documentary called 'Chimps are People too'. He basically showed that Chimps have their own language, social groups, rituals, class system etc - I.e. things that make humans what they are. He also points out that humans have had thousands of years of learning passed down generations, and that chimps do not have this - therefore the differences in raw intelligence might be even smaller than you think. It's interesting anyway.

Sorry, it wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular - I have nothing against Vegans or Hippies. Nobs I don't like, but I don't think you're a nob

You can never rule anything out in science, though. Scientific research is all based on the probability that you find your results due to chance - if that probability is less than 0.05 or 1/20 (A completely abitrary threshold) then something is 'significant'. There is no proof, just likelihood. It's all conjecture and creating models that fit best. Plants feeling pain (or perhaps I should say hurt) is extremely unlikely, so unlikely that I wouldn't worry about it. Similarly I don't imagine that rocks feel love or that water gets angry. I don't really see a way you could prove it, though. No animal life could exist without eating plant life though. Therefore if you believe in God/a god and you believe that we are meant to be on this earth, you can't possibly object to eating plants. If plants do feel pain then we must suppose that they are less worthy of life than us and we're 'allowed' to cause them pain by eating them. Your thoughts on things usually do interest me, Rowly. Where are you reading this from?

But without comprehension, pain is just a reaction - part of homeostasis as you say, in the same we we release hormones or digestive juices. It's not an unpleasant thing (in fact we don't realise it's happening). Pain is different for humans. Although maybe I'm using the wrong word - Perhaps 'hurt' would be better. It's impossible for a plant to feel hurt for the three reasons I stated above. Or we could just discuss it in this topic and you could keep your unwanted opinions to yourself, and stay out of this thread?
-
I'm sorry but you're talking crap. Show me one bit of evidence suggest that plants can feel pain like we can. To feel pain you need to a) have a nervous system have a memory so you that remember that 2 seconds ago you were in pain (otherwise who cares?) c) know what pain is and why we are feeling it - I.e. some comprehension that the feeling 'pain' is bad. Plants don't have any of these things. Fish don't have the second two, so I don't feel too bad about eating them, either.

Nowt. It looks pretty nice actually (apart from the colour), I'm just jealous - I want a fixie. To be fair, it's pretty unique! That On-one Pompino for £499 looks ace, maybe I will get one when I've got some more money.

I'm not quite sure who you've been talking to. I never feel superior to anyone for being vegetarian - in fact quite the opposite - most non-vegetarians take the piss and I'm sure they feel slightly superior to me, calling me weird or stupid. Whatever, I don't really care. My reasons are my own and I certainly don't shout about them - In fact quite a few of my friends don't know I'm vegetarian... I think I have a slightly weird view on vegetarianism though - I fully understand the reasons behind eating meat - it's simple biology and food chains and I don't have a problem with humans (as a race) eating meat. Just on a personal level, I choose not to. If you've spoken to vegetarians like in the quote above - that's because that person is a dick, not because they're a vegetarian (And before anyone says it, no it's not the same thing). You were still talking complete shite about plants feeling pain - that's the exact same crap I would expect from some hippy vegan nob

For Sale/wanted In The New Members Chat?

Yup. Sorry. -
Are you sure it's not just the hub engaging?

You can't really put a spacer on top if you've not got a long steerer tube - it won't sit straight. But then - why on earth would you want to?!

'Going big'. I find I learn new techniques pretty well, but then I can never improve them to an amazing standard. Either that of I just don't practise enough. Oh well.
