  1. It might have been Mike Judson (Leedstrials on the forum). Was he on some ghetto planet-X Zebdi with 24" wheels? I'm not sure if he got around to getting a working bike, I know when his Leeson broke he rode brakeless for a while. Link to topic HERE
  2. I never tried to cure AIDS with an operating system, maybe we should try?
  3. Riding isn't supposed to be fun - just think of the INCHES!
  4. No it's not. I use a Mac and I happen to like it. If you don't play games, Macs can run most things, and they are nice. Whether you think that trade-off of 'niceness' is worth the fact that you might not be able to run some obscure programs is up to you. I think it is. Every time I use OS X it makes me smile how nice it is to use, which is quite sad but true
  5. SuSe 10.1 ages ago - Supposedly the multimedia version of Linux. So when the sound didn't work, that was annoying. Fedora FC4 again a while ago - I think most things worked but I couldn't access my NTFS partition (I believe that has been fixed now?) Ubuntu (latest stable release about 2 weeks ago) - Network just will not work - so no internet access. And the programs are a big funny - the MP3 player refused to decode MP3s which was a bit dumb. The only one that's ever worked properly was Knoppix live. But I'd be after a more permanent thing, and though I know you can convert the LiveCD into a full install, Knoppix didn't seem as nice to use as Ubuntu/SuSe anyway. At the end of the day, none of them worked as well as Windows, so I just went back to that.

    Help

What do you mean there's 'no pressure'? The bath method is pretty good if you want to use water in your brakes, otherwise using a bleed kit is fine.
  7. Zero - Low and silver, now with added 'long'
  8. Yeah but OS X is totally different to linux. Whereas OS X is made to be easy to use, EVERYTHING in linux is a pain in the arse. FACT. I'm sure that with a spare few days you could probably get used to it and work out ways of using it properly, but every time I've tried Linux (about 4 times now) I've always one problem I couldn't sort out (Either sound, network, mouse) and had to go back to Windows. Whereas OS X just works straight out of the box.
  9. Pretty good job actually! Although it's low and silver but it needs to be longer. Orange Zeros were ace. They all broke where the chainstays met the BB shell - because they used kinked box section alu. Nowadays nearly all frames have a CNC yoke there. A Zero with a yoke would probably be pretty good, but it certainly wouldn't be cheap
  10. The only 'funny' bit is that you f**ked up the maths and failed to realise that 5 hours for £3 actually works out more expensive than paying for the hours individually. I have remembered you name, and I personally will never validate you. I think that's enough punishment.
  11. Better/more innovative tensioners - perhaps an international standard for frame-mounted tensioners similar to the Leeson KISSS. Especially now that no-one really needs gears any more now that the comp rules are relaxed. Better dropouts - QR dropouts are just so last year. In mountain bikes it's all about the 20mm axles/maxles - Why not in trials? People are going to realise that Neon / Fluoro looks shit... We've sort of discovered the best geometry for big sidehops, big gaps etc. But it will be a while until we perfect sensible natural-orientated frames since it's much more difficult to measure their performance quantitatively. People will realise that these bikes are more fun overall. SPDs. Honestly.
  12. So it's your fault then? I should stop being such a King fanboy, but it's too much fun.
  13. I could not agree more. In fact, if anyone wants to buy a Marin Wildcat Trail (2004) for £300 let me know. It's a Medium but I ride it and I'm 6', though this would probably better suit someone 5'8" - 5'11" I guess. I've had it less than a year, I bought it in November 2006. Because: I just ordered one of these For the bargain price of £900 - down from £1300. It would have been rude NOT to... In fact I've saved £400! Woohoo. It's from Merlin - large only I'm afraid but that's what you were after I think?
  14. Nod32, AVG, Avast. All are good, I use AVG and it's nice.
  15. Only stupid people get viruses. True story.

    Grip Slip

I don't understand people who say to zip tie them on - or wire is even worse. Unless you ride with gloves I suppose. Meh, I've never had that much of a problem with grip slip. Just buy the ones that cover the end of the bar, it's fine.
  17. Nelly But most people just call me Tom.
  18. Yeah, I had it. Not content with doing what the doctor said, I got a specialist opinion from an orthopod (I'm a medical student you see) and he said basically the same. However, I did a literature search and there's very little in the medical literature about whether you should rest it - there's no evidence to suggest that resting it makes any difference at all. Sometimes medicine is based on common sense, but increasingly it has to be 'evidence-based' - I.e. people have done a trial and proven it's true. It would seem to be common sense that if you have a tendinous injury, you ought to rest it - and this is the logic that doctors have been using for years, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily true... Anyway, I searched climbing forums and someone had done a survey based on climbers and their injuries - and the consensus was that people with tendinitis can carry on climbing without it getting worse - and that's exactly what I did. I would agree with this idea completely - resting it makes f**k all difference.
  19. I can't even envisage a situation where you'd ever have to buy King bearings to be honest
  20. I had tendinitis in my fingers (from climbing / XC riding). It basically hurts all the time but riding doesn't make it any better or worse so just get on with it - as long as you can stand the pain. Once you get over the idea that pain = bad, it's not such a big deal. N.B. This is finger tendinitis from climbing - Maybe you SHOULD rest your elbow. I don't know.
  21. Pleeease make the Ules again, they were ace.

  23. Most of the 'unlimited' packages (E.g. T-Mobile Web'n'Walk) don't allow you to use it connected to the computer - it uses far more bandwidth than simple phone internet browsing and they're not willing to allow it. However, whether they will know is a different matter. Unless they rebrand the phone and disable that service.

    What Is Deng?

Contrary to popular belief, it was Deng (not Pete) who invented the titanium hole.
