    What's Your Job?

These are my two 'jobs' Mostly I'm a medical student (just finished my 4th year) which involves some long hours and a decent amount of work, but I'm actually doing a different degree next year (BSc in Physiology) just for the sheer fun of it. Which means I'll be more like a normal student and hopefully have a bit more free time, instead of being a final year medical student which will be a royal pain in the arse 8-5 most days + some nights with no pay, and some nice exams at the end. In the summer I work as a medical secretary for an agency in Manchester. It's seriously the best job I can think of. Basically because I know quite a lot about medicine and I know the language, I can work as a secretary - typing out what doctors have dictated. If you're a normal person and you want to do this, you have to go on courses and stuff and it's not cheap, but I didn't have to. So basically I get a decent wage for doing easy work. I like it anyway
  2. I think he meant that it was a load of shit that he doesn't want his face being seen. It's pretty lame him sending you pictures but saying you can't show anyone!

    Ryan Leech

It's mad to think of the time it must have taken to build all that. And there's only one guy in the world who will ride it, haha. That narrow balance beam --> sidehop --> another balance beam was nuts.

    Nhs Vs Private

There aren't private GPs and there isn't a private A&E, so if you need to see someone, you pretty much have to go through the NHS anyway. To be honest, the standard of care isn't really any difference, but in a private hospital you get your own room, TV, better food etc. And waiting times for operations are less. But apart from that it's about the same.
  5. You need sandalandsoxer.co.uk. The other day I saw some socks that had a gap between your big toe and the others, so you could wear sandals with socks with minimal chaffage. Nice.
  6. I'm not quite sure where the oil would have come from, haha. It'll just be the water mixing with the brake dust you get I reckon.
  7. Of course it doesn't count. I think the poll speaks for itself, the trials community has agreed. Case closed. lol
  8. Ha, it was a knife-only round!
  9. Yeah that's what I was talking about when I was on about the number of elements

    Who Can Help Me...

Thank you very much! That worked perfectly. I will probably forget about trying to make my own site now. Cheers
  11. I need some help with designing something in html. Basically for a uni project I'm doing a questionnaire that will go out to around 500 people, with some simple multiple choice answers. How easy would it be to make a website to have all the questions on? And to be able to collect the data for me? I'm thinking it would be very hard. I found a website (ThesisTools) that will do most of the work for me, but I don't think it's as professional as getting my own site up and running. However, if coding my own site is too hard, I'll have to use this (or some other site people know about?). If I use this, I need to put a table in that would look like this. I believe I can use my own html on this site, so how would I go about making that table in html?
  12. F numbers are the focal length of the lens divided by the diameter of the aperture. Not sure about stops.
  13. Mine turns itself on at 9:18 every single morning for reasons that are completely unclear to me. However, I have GPS on my phone and that links up with a program called memory map to show me exactly where I've been. Yay. Plus I can set it to record anything that's on freeview, that's pretty cool. Oh, and I have a remote control so I can watch my videos/TV from my bed
  14. How the f**k do you know that the water's changed? Haha
  15. If it was a really specialised shock, with loads of compression damping initially, and a lot of rebound, then I could imagine that it could possibly make a bit of difference in sidehops, although whether it would cancel out the extra weight I don't know. But for everything else it'd be rubbish
  16. But why would you limit yourself? If it was better then everyone would have them so of course it would be fair. But yeah, I can't see it taking off at all. Would be interesting to see though.
  17. Hmm, yeah. Maybe on second glance there IS a pivot there.
  18. I remember seeing a video aaaages ago (maybe 4 years ago) of some Japanese guy riding the worlds on a full-sus stock frame. It just looked stupid because the sus was just taking all his energy, and it didn't really help with anything. Anyone who's ever tried to back hop a full susser will know what I mean. Besides - is that shock even working? I can't say I saw it move once in the video... Which is explained by the fact there is no pivot . It looks to me like someone has just hacked up some knackered old frames and welded them together again, with a shock in there to provide a talking point. I bet it does nothing (apart from weigh a shed load).
  19. The quickest way would probably be connecting the two up with a firewire cable, that would be really fast. Next up is a wired network, that should be pretty quick too. Wireless is OK and it'll work, but it will take quite a lot longer. But if you just set the computer copying and go away for an hour, then it'll work just as well. Are they already sharing on the network?
  20. There should be a sticker on the bottom of the laptop with a Windows serial number on it. As long as you get the right version, you should be able to use someone else's install disk with your serial number. That would be legal.
  21. Rust is not important, I've never heard of anyone using a frame for long enough for it to rust. All trials frames break before that can happen. Besides, it takes aaaaages for steel frames to rust - My 10 year old 4130 mountain bike is still going strong, no signs of rust damage yet. Steel frames ARE generally a pound or so heavier than an alu equivalent. So there's not much in it but if you want super-light then go for alu. Yes, aluminium is more brittle and it fatigues, but it's also usually stronger to start with. On the whole, I'd say that alu trials frames are probably more durable than steel ones, maybe that's because they're made better or something, but I reckon the failure rate is probably lower for alu frames... Maybe. But yeah, Steel is Reel
  22. Is it XP? Can't you just create a new account (in control panel) and use that?
  23. I reckon it'll probably be some custom shapes he's either created or installed from somewhere. I don't think those are available in normal photoshop
