  1. Maybe you are overestimating the honesty of the average eBay user Surely they'd keep quiet to give the impression they'd tried nothing? That way people might think it's easily fixable even though the seller knows it's f**ked. That's what I'd do...! You might be right but it's a very risky strategy. Your money.
  2. It'll be a problem with the motherboard. Again, I'll bet the seller has tried to fix it, but failed. You would be able to fix the wifi with an express card or USB adapter (I'm sure you could find one with mac drivers). Same with sound, you could get a USB sound card. But it's not ideal at all.
  3. Yeah but I bet you any money the seller has tried (and failed) to fix it. It won't be simple. Nothing to do with the build quality - if you spill water on a computer it'll break...
  4. Er, no. Just no. Someone has just spilt water on their laptop and ruined it, and you want to buy it? Please don't.
  5. 1) Best of the internet 2) I spent 4 minutes of my life waiting for the funny bit. I'll never get that time back
  6. I tried dirt jumping on my zoot, it just wasn't happening at all. Waaay too long. I swapped some of the bits onto a trailstar frame and it's instantly a million times better. You can't get a bike that's good for everything. You can probably get a bike that's mediocre for everything, though.

    Gcse's In Year 9

I can't really see the point. A lot of people don't have the maturity to do GCSEs even at 16, let alone 14. If you're clever enough to do the exam early (and get a good grade), you should easily be able to cope with doing all your exams in the summer of year 11.
  8. Same kettle of fish, you don't have to worry about spyware either.
  9. You can buy Norton for Macs. Quite why you would want to, I do not know!

    Contact Lenses

That site seems good but they need a copy of your prescription, done within the last year... I haven't been to the optician in several years. But I found another site (www.contactlenses.co.uk) which don't seem so strict so I've ordered from there. They do seem very cheap Cheers.
  11. Any wireless router will do

    Contact Lenses

I need some more contact lenses. I know my prescription (-1.75L, -1.25R, TF fact fans ), and I don't want any long term contract or anything. Can I just buy some contacts online and get them delivered, no questions asked? I just need the lenses, no solution. Monthly disposables.
  13. No, No, Insurance underwriter? Don't think I've heard of them before though. Surely a big company can do better market research than this?
  14. That graphics card (9600) is about 4 years old though, and was never particularly fast when it came out. It won't be much cop for modern games at a reasonable resolution and fps. You'll definitely struggle for £300, but I'd cut back in other areas to get a decent graphics card if you want to play recent games.
  15. Not at all, almost instantaneous here
  16. Also ATI. Those are the only two cards I know that are less than £40, because I was looking at buying one and although the 2600 is newer, it's also slower for games as it's designed to be a cheap low power card for media centre PCs (so it has hardware decoding of DivX). Unfortunately I don't really know what to recommend. EDIT: Actually I'm thinking of the 2400 not 2600. I don't really know what the 2600 is like, but probably not much better. Maybe have a look at this site: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/graphic...-score,538.html
  17. I didn't say that though, did I? I just said that drugs shouldn't necessarily be positively encouraged to younger members.
  18. I'd be worried about that PSU, definitely. It's not all about watts but if that's a cheap PSU that comes with the case it's unlikely to be up to the task. Secondly that 2600 is not going to be good for games at all. Something like an x1650 is cheaper and better (for games), but if you're serious about using it for games you want to spend a lot more on a graphics card. Also have you considered Intel core duos? I don't know the exact price difference but I know AMD don't compare that well to Intel for 90% of things.
  19. There's a lot of people in this thread (I'm not trying to single you out) who are putting across a very biased viewpoint to the 'positives' of drugs. If people don't want to take ecstasy, I don't think they should be bullied by older members of the forum until they agree. They're entitled to an opinion, even if it's different to yours. As much as you might enjoy drugs, I don't think anyone would say that drug use is a virtue.
  20. It's a bit wordy and overly formal in places which I think makes it harder to understand. E.g. Could simply be something like: But it does make sense. I always just cringe a little when people write overly formal letters about something that doesn't require that level of formality, especially when they're young. 90% of the time it just makes you look daft IMO.
  21. What a joke. I read a few bits, enough to realise it's all shit. The guy shoots himself in the foot brilliantly with these "facts" The same great depression where many, many millionaires lost their entire fortune? Doesn't make any sense if "…POT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE BILLIONAIRES WANT TO REMAIN BILLIONAIRES!" (P.s. please don't shout). Yes, maybe if you're a chain pot-smoking idiot. Then everything is freakin' unbelievable, man. If the guy that wrote this wasn't a paranoid pot-smoking idiot, he might be able to do something useful. But I presume he just sits and smokes and thinks up stupid theories like that one. Fair enough, but he shouldn't waste other people's time by posting it on the interwebs. Mind you, that whole website looks like it's full of shit.
  22. Funnily enough there's a button on our keyboards (Shift + 3) for the 'funny' symbol of our national currency Oh yeah, no buying/selling.
  23. Hmm, I do have an ATI graphics card. That's one thing, the other thing is my 15 year old network card (works fine in Windows but I bet it's got some very obscure chipset), my USB TV tuner and a USB / infrared remote control. A bit frustrating, probably not worth the hassle
  24. Yeah, I'm definitely going to look into osx86 now I have some free time. I really want it on my PC.
  25. My flatmate has just bought a new £500 PCWorld laptop (HP/Compaq thing) and it's really toss. It's just made out of cheap plastic so it's flexy and creaky and quite big. The trackpad is also rubbish which is immensely frustrating. And don't get me started on Vista. Without wishing to sound like a Mac fanboy, Vista really is rubbish. It's ugly, bloated, slow and nothing is in the right place any more. I hadn't really used Vista properly until recently and I can see why a lot of people are downgrading to XP. I think what people don't understand is that a lot of Apple hardware is expensive because it's good. You can't compare Macbooks to Dell or Compaq laptops, you should compare them to Thinkpads or something that's built well. EDIT: Er, yes - the cheap Macbook will be fine EDIT2: But if you read the thread, a lot of people are suggesting that an update is imminent so don't buy one right now.
