You're right, the thickness won't matter. The pads adjust themselves for wear which will account for a slightly thicker disc. The diameter is anyone's guess - it depends what adapter you have for your bike. Probably 160 for XC though.

I was going to say that you should be able to get a cheap graphics card for well under £20. That one, however, won't work, because it's PCI-e and I'm pretty sure you'll need AGP (or 'normal' PCI). Normal PCI cards are now rare so they're actually relatively expensive, as well as being rubbish and old. So don't get one of them. Anyone who says that a Monty hose splitter makes a difference is lying. And anyone who understands fluids and pressure systems (like those found in a brake) will tell you that there's no advantage at all using a splitter like that, it just makes the brakes harder to bleed. The only reason to get one is if you think they look better or you've got some weird-shaped frame and the cable routing will be better with it.

24" forks are the same as 26" forks. The difference (on some forks) is where the V-brake/magura mounts are. Lengthwise they're the same, and if you're using a disc, you can use any fork with a disc mount.

You will be able to use all the features, yes. The only thing is the data charges - on O2 you have unlimited data, but on Orange it's REALLY expensive (£8/30mb/month). So as long as you only get your emails/youtube etc via wifi it'll be fine, otherwise expect huge bills. When you swap to O2, you should be able to get the same tariff that you get with an iPhone (I.e. unlimited data for £35). I think you can probably simply do it via iTunes as if the phone was brand new - and it'll update the software and it will no longer be unlocked. I THINK. By the way, you can get a NEW 8Gb iPhone for £169 so don't pay more than that (unless it's 16Gb).

If you don't want to play any games at all, you can easily cut back on the graphics card. Something like an ATI HD2400 is under £40 and it'll do HD decoding on board, taking load off the CPU, and being more efficient, whilst probably being quieter than a normal card like the one tomturd suggested. But it'll be rubbish for games, so them's the breaks. Oh, and definitely factor in a nice big screen
