No Adam, you're not allowed opinions. You just state trials facts I've never had a problem with the post mount on my XC forks, seems straight enough, especially when there's the tri-align business built into most discs these days. Do any trials forks have post mount?
-
Yes, that's what this topic's about Anyway, 0.999999999999999999999999 is not the same as 0.999...
-
Why do you say that? Apart from the risk of threading an expensive pair of forks? I know a lot of the mountain bike world is moving over to post mount.

Winstantley Website Doing Onza Mod's At Low Price.
Tomm replied to Daborn Meister's topic in Trials Chat
Yeah, I've had a pretty bad experience with them too. -
Apologies to anyone who has one, but they were never any good. Even when they came out they were considered pretty rubbish (the cheaper T-Raptor was the discerning trials rider's choice) - and they're now five years old. People get overly nostalgic about frames they used to have. In the same kind of way people say you should never meet your heroes, I say you should never ride a bike you used to like. It'll only disappoint.

Pros And Cons Between Hope Bulb And Pro Ii Rear Hubs.
Tomm replied to maxwellduryea's topic in Trials Chat
Bulbs are NOT reliable for trials. They have a similar ratchet system to the XC, but more engagements so the ratchet teeth and pawls are smaller and are more prone to fail -
My mate's got some which are like the hi-tops, but not exactly the same (perhaps last year's model or something). I wouldn't wear them in public, put it that way. He likes them (for riding in) but they look pretty gimpy. The lo-top taki ones look OK in the pictures, but I'm not convinced they would do in real life. Riding shoes have a habit of doing that.
-
They're actually really not that stiff, my mate has a pair. They'd probably still be rubbish for trials. The non-spd 661s have a really tacky sole, it's made from the same 'stealth' rubber as they use in climbing shoes. Not sure how good they'd be for trials, but for DH with flat pedals, they're supposed to be the shit.

0.999 recurring (to infinity) minus the last '9' in the series is still an infinitely long string of 9s. Hence this bit makes perfect sense. 10x = 9.999* 10x - x = 9.999* - 0.999* I might not have explained that very well, but suffice it to say, the proof is sound.
-
That was awesome. I mean the riding was really, really, boring, but I was pissing myself at your jeans having an ass baby on every trick. Top class entertainment.
-
That's precisely the point of the proof though! What is infinity minus 1? Or infinity plus 1? (the answer in both cases is infinity)
-
My understanding is that they haven't argued about it for years. They all agree that 0.999... == 1 It's really about what you think of as 'infinity'. 0.999... streches to infinity and is therefore infinitely close to 1. It's not intuitive for us to think that 0.999... might equal 1, but unless you can come up with a counter-proof to what ash posted, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Yup, pretty much what he said. cheers for the video rich!

Is it just drag and drop? That's the only other thing about Sonys - they used to force you to use their own software (yes, I know iTunes does that) and use their own compression (I.e. it doesn't play MP3s). But I think they've sorted that now? It does look quite pimp, but it's like the bluetooth is the only reason it's £160 and not £80. P.S. Are you sure you don't have a phone that will do A2DP or whatever it's called? 8Gb memory card + some BT headphones = cheaper.

Is there a 'Local Area Network 1' (or similar) icon in network properties that corresponds with the ethernet port? If not, the motherboard port might need enabling in the bios. When you restart the computer, press the button (usually delete) to enter setup and try and find an option for 'onboard LAN' or similar. Then save and restart, and Windows should find it. If you HAVE got an icon, is it enabled? Does it have an IP address (highlight the 'Local Area Network 1' icon and click the info thing at the bottom left of the window).

What exactly is a "digital TV"? The component cable will work on any TV that has component in. I would have thought that was obvious?
-
Not really because you can get a 60Gb iPod for the same moneys (instead of the 8Gb Sony)*. Oh, and the Sony one is made by Sony... If you really want to be different, get a Creative, at least they're cheap. Bluetooth would be good, but I'm not convinced it would be that amazing. And you'd have two parts - the player and the headphones - which would be a bit annoying? *EDIT: Actually, I was wrong. The cheapest iPod classic is 80Gb (not 60) and is cheaper than the Sony (£159).

Wow, that was well good. Proving that long, low and silver black bikes can be cool
-
So you should, hehe. Yeah, not often though

Thanks for that link. To be honest, TM is made to be useable by stupid people. It is retardedly simple and that makes it quite uncustomiseable (without hacks). I'm pretty sure you CAN boot from a Time Machine USB drive, just not from a network drive. But apparently if you copy the sparsebundle onto a USB drive from the network drive, you can restore from that. Dunno. Bearing in mind that I wouldn't be doing any regular backups without TM, I think it's great.

Click the edit button under your first post. Yeah, you're not allowed to buy and sell stuff in NMC. But you could always try the main forum now

I don't quite know why you're here. But you'll never get validated with a name like that. In fact I'm going to ban you instead.

Time Machine defaults, innit?

It's not working flawlessly with me. It does hourly backups and they only succeed maybe 50% of the time. It's not a huge problem at all - If I wasn't using time machine I probably wouldn't do backups, certainly not every hour or two! Why were they saying it was a bad idea? In other news, I was just trying to format my external drive (250Gb) to Fat32 again so I could use it on mac. Windows doesn't let you do it, so I tried via the command line. It took over an hour, then told me it couldn't do it. I then tried partition magic which would only let me do a partition up to 190Gb ish. I then had the idea of formatting it on my mac using disk utility. It did it in 10 seconds flat, works perfectly. I my Mac.

Yeah, and Phil_Anderer. Even Dave Dennis (Plain_Lazy84) isn't around much these days
