Nice vid. Makes me think about wearing a helmet again and doing some of that bigger stuff. I wish they hadn't used as much of that fish eye, it has a habbit of distorting distances, so I couldn't see how big some of those gaps etc. where. Some top riding though.

Anyone Ridden The 1065 Version Of The Kot?
spode@thinkbikes replied to DangerousDave's topic in Trials Chat
I've been wondering the same thing. Is the difference between the 1065 and 1099 noticeable? What advantages/dis-advantages are there to each? -

No, I said explain. Not throw useless analogies at me. :P Give me some TECHNICAL backing. -

Explain? I'm not a big fan of RAID anyway. I just keep my hard drives seperate in my file server, and then symbolically link them all in to one big share. I think Linux can do something similar to striping in software anyway. -

Surely it would be cheaper to buy a load of 200 or 300 drives instead? -
I can confirm that works. It's just a little noisier..

Well, yes that's true. But then an FX-57 is a fixed variable, so it's easy to bring up in a comparison (Y) -

"You say it's faster than an FX-57, but to be perfectly honest it won't perform better due to its outdated pentium 3 architecture. Have you got any plans for any better cooling? I believe someone has managed to get an XP-120 to fit theirs." In games, it probably will be. When we compared it to the 915 Based Pentium M board (with PCI-E and DDR2 etc), it gave comparitively faster frame rates. It may be based on the P3 architecture, but it's extra Level 2 cache helps a lot, and it has better branch prediction. It is lacking SSE3 though. -

Maybe he doesn't play games? The only reason I have a 5700 Ultra is because I run two monitors, so the onboard graphics wouldn't cut it. However, why do you have an X2 AS WELL? Do you have more money than sense, or is there something you're not telling us? -
IIRC the server is a Pentium 4 2.4GHz with 512MB of ram. The deal I'm doing is 5GB of bandwidth per month with 500MB storage.

I rent one in America, Red Hat Linux. Probably moving it back to the UK in the near future. I host a few sites on it, but not too many. I'm not very price competitive. But I've found the people I host can't really use control panels and expect me to set up things all the time. So I charge a little bit extra for the man labour (Besides, I don't think £30 per year is unreasonable). 1&1 is probably automated and actually getting help is a little harder. And they probably cram thousands of you on a single server.

Just to reiterate, just in case the thread as a whole seemed confusing. Your modem has USB only output. In order to host the internet using this, you will need a machine on all the time. You need a modem with Ethernet (RJ45) output. Using a crossover cable, you can connect this to your current switch and everything will be hunky dorey (assuming you set it all up right). Alternatively, sell your current wireless switch on eBay and use the money to buy a modem/switch/wireless AP in one.

I buy domains from www.123reg.co.uk for .co.uks and www.godaddy.com for .coms. I host them myself on my server. Anyone else who wants I hosting, I do it for £30 a year, with a Plesk control panel. :turned:

IIRC, it was Dell that leaked the original Windows XP Corporate edition that now floats around any decent Warez site :turned:

They told me to send the whole wheel, not just the hub. I left the disc and skewer on (mainly just to show I'm a hope guy, and hoped they might treat me a little better). I expect having a wheel around it makes it easier to manage and harder to lose.. The last time I sent a wheel to them, they sent the wheel back with a brand new hub in the box. That was kind of annoying because I had to rebuild the wheel. But I've had a titanium bottom bracket replaced twice and a few snapped rotors too. I think their stuff IS good quality. Trials knackers it, because trials knackers everything. You have to expect to replace this stuff, it's not a cheap sport.

You won't be dissappointed mate. I'm running a Pentium M Dothan 1.6GHz as my main machine. Did have it up at 2.13Ghz but then I borked the motherboard with a drill. You'll get better speeds than that because of your board. This thing (Aopen Lm855) can't go above 133MHz. But my machine is build for quietness. Has a 5700 Ultra SilentFX (fanless) a PSU with a 120mm fan in that almost silent and a Samsung Spinpoint hard drive. It is as good as silent, so I can sleep with it on. Then my server does all my file storage, which has 600GB in it. If I want to play games, I just use my test bed, which has a choice of 10 graphics cards at the moment (Y) -
I didn't see the gig when PoS supported them. Although I'd love to. I saw Pain of Salvation very recently when they played at the Underworld in Camden. And I've seen DT on the Train of Thought and the Octavarium Tour. After seeing PoS live, DT just didn't do it as much for me (Y)

I've always been impressed whenver I've needed something replaced by Hope, but this is just crazy. The ratchet on my Hope XC hub recently screwed up. I asked wether it was still covered under warranty. They didn't ask for any proof of purchase or how old the hub was (to be honest I don't know either). They just said, send it in. I sent it in on either Monday or Tuesday and recieved it back today (Thursday). Not only had they replaced the ratchet, pores and springs, but they had used some top quality grease as well. They even noticed that my hope titanium skewer was bent and replaced that! I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced the axle too. The wheel looks great and I'm a very happy bunny indeed!

Why strangely Dream Theater? they rock - seen them live twice :D. Although I'm more of a Pain of Salvation fan, but I've only seen them once.

:D But bagpipes rule!! -
Not bad mate. It was funny, I was looking at some of those lines and thinking, I'd do a static 360 round about now and then BAM you did it. And then concrete plateau type thing where you pivoted onto and then span round. EXACTLY what I would have done :D Being critical though instead of sucking up to you, I think you hop too much. You've got this crazy lots of tiny little hops thing going on. Something as simple as that drop off with an X-UP. Why not just kick straight to the edge? All that waiting just makes it boring, or we're expecting something special. Same goes for that 90 degree turn before hopping on to that black rail. Ramsgate looks pretty fun, I'll have to come down for a ride soon. AFA wearing a helmet, for the first 4 years or something I wore one but then I was screwing up a lot then. Now, I find I don't screw up as much and when I do, it's very rarely my head that is in danger. It's not a high speed sport. That's not an excuse mind you, I should still wear one - but it messes up my hair!! ^_^ It's your choice though mate.

Compared to most of this lot you are. I wonder if we need an "Adult Only" section :D ^_^ -
You don't really notice it when you ride though. And still beats tar on your rims! I seriously doubt I could EVER move away from discs. I really want to try one of these high BB frames, but none of them seem to have disc mounts :D At the moment I'm looking to the Saracen Team Trials frames, but the geometry isn't actually that different to my Orange Zero.
