Nice pictures, nice and clear and some good moves pulled by the looks of it.

I have recently been tempted to buy a pair of trials specific shoes, such as the monty or try-all ones. However, are they really worth buying? Do they feel better to ride in than skate shoes? I have always worn skate shoes for riding in but wouldnt mind trying some trials boots however if they arent much good then i will spend my money on something else. Anyone here use them, good/bad points? Cheers, Luke

Running Your Bike With No Mech Or Tensioner
Luke Drewery replied to Luke Drewery's topic in Trials Chat
Cheers for the advice guys. From what i have heard here its not worth running your bike without a tensioner, so i may look at getting a freshproducts tensioner as i have enquired about getting my middleburn bash machined down too. I shall gather some money and see. -
Cheers for the replys guys, on the second gap i definately preload more which helped me get further. I dont like using a preload hop though as i find its better technique if you backhop right on the edge then squat down slightly before hopping. Its only really big gaps with sharp landings that i cant land smoothly on.

I doubt anyone will care, but here is a clip of me doing a bigger gap. Its only a few inches bigger and you can just tell that it is bigger from the clip. I got my king wheel the other day and its helped my gapping by quite a lot, much better than a hope! Sounds awesome when i gap too! Anyway, here it is. Please download and comment; Gap

I have seen many people running their bikes without any chain tensioner or rear mech and i am tempted to try it to save some weight, as my bike isnt the lighest in the world. Also, i think it looks better and stops you trashing your mech from bad landings. However, i have heard that it can wear your rear hub out quicker, why its this? I keep hearing it but nobody explains why, whats the mechanical disadvantage/problem that causes your hub to wear out faster? I have just bought a king rear wheel so i dont weant to run no tensioner if its going to bodge my hub up. :) If anyone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated. Cheers, Luke :P

I actually pre-ordered one of those hope pro two hubs, but my hope mono totally knackered up so i couldnt wait for them to come out, as it will probably be months before they are released. So, i caught a bargain on ebay-a king classic on bmf rim and i have ridden it hard today with no problems, it has made my t-rex ride 10 times better than when it had the hope hub on. They are on bikedock too, but i rang them and they dont have them in stock either. No where does yet.

I can gap quite far too, my record is 7 foot 2 from blue pallet to blue pallet at my friends house, i shall try and get a piccy to prove it for any one who thinks im lying. :P When i gap really far though, particularly when the edge im landing on is sharp, i cant land smooth as i throw all my weight into it and force my bike forwards but i cant absorb this force when i land so i land hard. Any tips for this?

Any more comments?

Cheers, that could be used as a sidehop bar if you were awesome at sidehopping, but it isnt adjustable so you cant make it lower and its well over bar height! I just use a length of string between two objects, the highest i have done is 32" which i did yesterday. Not the highest but im going to keep practicing a couple of times a week until i get the elusive bar height! Any more tips/comments? :)

Dunno exactly mate, but its bigger than it look on the clip. If i had somewhere to put the camera i could have got a full on side view so that you can see how big the gap actually is.

Hey, I have just built a mini platform out of some old wood that i can use for gaps, and i wanted to try it out. Below is a clip of me doing a gap a bit over bikes length, could you give me pointers on my technique? How could i get further? I apologise for the crappy self filming. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated; Garden Gap Cheers, Luke. :)

Mint pictures, i cant wait for the full video! Huge gap!

I would probably say sectioned, as thats the traditional way of doing things. Also, you know exactly where to go and what to do to get the points. It would be fun riding freestyle too though, showing off everything you can do. >_<

I need to know this too, as you may have seen in my topic i have a load of clips seperate that i want to put together into a video but my camera only produces them as .mov files and movie maker etc wont accept them.

I would go for the zoo mod stem, i have had many goes on a mates python and he runs zoo bars and a zoo stem. It rides really nice, easy for gaps, sidehops etc and does feel quite low but it depends what 'feel' you prefer on yur bike. The onza carbon risers are basically the same shape and rise as zoo bars (just wider) so i would go for the zoo stem. Failing that, echo team. :)

Very good ideo, i loved the way you got all the best angles and stayed close up to the riders so you could see exactly what was going on better. The editing was good too, and i like the way the music carried on going for a few seconds after the video had faded out at the end. Top job. :)

Erm, whats a bar brace? Do you mean a frame protector like the armourdillo or something?
-
Lol, service from wiggle has always been good from when i have used them. Parts were delivered within two or three days which is good enough for me. :)

If youre exceptionally tall then longer wheelbases wont hinder bunnyhopping as such, but for more 'average' sized people it may be harder to get the leverage needed to lift the front wheel. I ride a 1080mm t-rex frame and i have no problem bunnyhopping up stuff on it, probably because im 6ft 3 though. Dominique hermance, the father of Vincent Hermance, is indeed the founder and owner of koxx bikes France. Imagine having access to any koxx part available on the market for nothing! However, Vincent would have had to spend many hours testing new parts before they were released i suppose.

That is one sweet looking machine! How is the rear disc holding up? Does it lock well etc?

Sweet video, good quality and some very good riding from everyone. Funny to hear the little britain reference at the end too. ;)

I had to send my rear mono hub back to hope as the ratchet, pawls and springs were knackered. It took them about two months to get round to it but they sent me a whole new hub for free, which was nice of them! Apart from the long delay (I had to use a deore hub in that period (Y) ) the service was good! Then seven months later itr was totally knackered again! I got it repaired and it broke again. Three hopes later and i realise i should have got a king to start with. I have one now though. :P
