  1. That's fair enough, the problem is you know what's in SM chat, I don't. I can only assume and argue my position based on what I think is in there. If the majority of the important topics are indeed posted outside of SM chat for the members to mull over then it's all good. I don't take that personally at all mainly because it's true. Menial things to some are more important to others. I use this forum just as much as anyone else so what goes on in here I find pretty important, and ontop of that this form is the sole of trials in the UK, I think a lot of people forget that from time to time and what goes on in here has a big influence on what happens in the trials world. I do have a lot of time on my hands and I do have a mind that'll possibly over think things (I know I've been told that over the last 18 months plenty of times away from the forum) but I do have some issues with the SM system and like Ben and other people in here it's better to discuss these things rather than to just not bother. If SMship isn't based on a general level of respect than what is it based on? I thought that's all it was based on. It's true that things like moderator buttons should be kept in a private forum. But once you create a private forum it's like there being a box in the middle of your living room floor saying 'do not open'. It'll drive people crazy even if there's nothing in there. My main problem with SM stemmed from a couple of topics. Some guy posted up a topic about petrol and needed some info for a school project. BONGO came along and slated him for posting up a topic that could have easily been searched for on google (even though later I did search for the topics and found it hard to find anything). A few weeks later BONGO posted up a topic asking for the name of an eminem song that used muppets in the video. I said to him at the time he'd just been totally hypercritical and he told me that the situations were different. The then post up a long and detailed post about how putting 'eminem muppets' or 'eminem puppets' would both bring the song name up in the first result. And how the other guys topic was actually something he was unable to find. Now, I know this is the actions of just one SM, but what bothered me more is a few hours after I posted that, the topic had been deleted, not closed, but deleted. That means BONGO had gone to a mod and asked it to be deleted to save his own skin. And stuff like just isn't fair and shows the negative sides to the SM system. EDIT: Unless SMs can delete their own topic in which case it's a little different. Another point, the whole porn and discount thing, we all know it's BS, but again even though it's made up it's made up to pretend that the SM have more benefits than others. The cencorship on TF is good. It keeps up a good standard for the forum. Don't want it turning into OTN do we?
  2. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=11226&category_id=10 if you can wait a while. When buying new, there's no reason to buy a da bomb over an onza.
  3. You're right here's nothing stopping a new topic been created. But... 1. If The Admin, Mods or SM come up with a suggestion it'll end up in Sm chat where non of the regular members will even know the idea is being discussed. I can't post up my thoughts on an idea if I don't know what the idea is. 2. I could flip what you said right back over to and say 'Why does it have to be posted in SM chat to begin with?'. The split of forsale / wanted was done 100% outside of SM chat (as far as I can tell) and was noted that the vast majority of the forum agreed, came up with potential problems which were in turn discussed and either solved or labeled as insignificant and then the idea was put into place. Would there really have been any advantage to having that same discussion within SM chat with just a handful of people?
  4. That's a fair point but... ...there are a whole bunch of people on here who can discuss development of this forum without it turning into a bitch fest. So why hide those topics away from those many members? Why reduce it to the ideas of a dozen or so people who weren't really selected because of their forum development skills, but because of their level of respect. I personally have been very vocal about suggestions for the forum, some of which have actually been implemented (FS / WTD been split up into two subforums for example), I'm not made a SM because of my lack of ability to make valid suggestions, but because I'm not a respected enough member. There's no reason why the topics in SM chat shouldn't be discussed openly with the rest of the members. TF should use it's member base as the great resource is it, and from time to time we see that happen with great results. I can fully understand why there does need to be a group of people discussing things in a hidden forum, discussing topics with issues about specific members, or specific advertisers do need to be kept private. I'm not suggesting that the SM system need to be ditched, or that more SM should be made. All I'm saying for now is that some topics shouldn't be hidden away. Hell why not make a forum suggestion / forum discussion thread, we have loads of new subforums these days might aswell be one more.
  5. The animal abuse vids that pop up from time to time are the one's that really make me want to puke.
  6. The usual way to do it is post it up on youtube and link us to it.

Unbeknown to all, he filmed this with a broken spine.
  9. Seems the same to me...
  10. The little orange boxes next to each topic tells you that there are new posts you haven't read. Clicking on the little orange box takes you to the oldest unread post.

    The Lost Thread

The lost producers said from day 1 they weren't in hell. It kind of also explains why Sayid couldn't kill the guy in black as he isn't 'pure' and 'good' anymore.
  12. You get youtube vids with 100's of ratings and 27 views too. Watched topics still doesn't work for me... They don't show in my watched topics box. Anyone else the same? Also, the watched topic box doesn't even show up in IE.
  13. You delete your post, I'll edit, no one will ever know. The point still stands though, maybe giving a % to the nearest 1% may have implied too much accuracy, but you get what I mean.
  14. Yes, the problem is that last year there was no 24" trials bikes that didn't have a geo for street BMXy kind of riding. It's really got nothing to do with the wheels size it just happened to be that 24" wheels were on bikes that were designed street riding which kind of his half trials and half BMX. Now we're seeing 24" wheels on bikes with the same geometry range as mods and stocks. So to say 24" wheeled bike are no good for trials is certainly not right. Saying 24" trials bikes aren't as good for pure trials would have been an acceptable statement in 2009, but is now unacceptable in 2010 due to the new range of 24" frames. Theoretically any wheel size between 20" and 26" would be just fine for trials. A 22" trials bike would have 33% of the advantages of a stock and 66% of the advantages of a mod.
  15. No, I've seen a cumshot make a more meaningful line graph than that. 24" trials bikes are not only street oriented anymore, so if that's what you're getting at it's true that street bikes aren't as good as pure trials bikes at trials that's obvious. But now we have 24" trials oriented bikes that can't be said anymore. If 20" sized wheels and 26" sized wheels are both fine for riding, then everything in between will be fine too (providing the geo and components and scaled down too). That's why when I hear people saying how 24" trials oriented bikes will be "harder to tap than a stock, but not as maneuverable than a mod" I just think it's crazy that they don't think about how it's also going to be more maneuverable than a stock but tap better than a mod. We may even find that 24" is more of an (or closer to) optimum wheel size and find that it becomes more popular than mods and stocks in comps and high level riding combined in a few years.

Always good to see some new stuff!
  18. It's an excellent deal, great bike and a lot of people agree, it's going to be popular.
  19. Nope links don't work for me either.
  20. Topic about trials shops in the USA and some links to shops in Canada.
  21. He's kinda like Usain Bolt. Pretty much in a different league of his own. It's obvious to see why he's become so popular, I mean even us trials riders shit the bed when we saw that video, imagine how people unfamiliar with trials felt. This is why I don't get why BMX riders are often saying that there's better BMX riders out there, yeah, but everyone knows what BMX is about and it's not new to anyone and doesn't have that same impact.
