Where exactly did anyone say that they deserved to have their kid taken? I actually don't know the full story, can't really find any info about exactly where she was abducted as all the news articles I've read assume we know all the basic details, so if anyone can link me with some good info I'll click away. I'm kind of siding with Luke on this one. I remember back to when I was 5. Playing out after dark would have been a complete no no, even in my own garden. Hell I was in my first year of school when I was 5 (september born) and we weren't even allowed to go out and play with the rest of the school for safety reasons. I think a couple of things need to be stated. a 5 year old isn't comparable to someone who is 7ish. Those two years make a hell of a difference to mental judgement and physically too. Everyone talking about keeping kids prisoner in their own homes and how it f**ks them up later in life is totally a strawman argument. Luke isn't saying they should be locked in their homes, but that in this particular situation were was a lack of parental supervision. Also, getting snatched by someone isn't the only danger there is for a child. You wouldn't watch over your 5 year old just in case someone was going to take her, you'd be watching out for her well being in general getting hurt, getting upset etc. The chances of a child getting kidnapped are very slim, but that falls under the umbrella of hundreds of things that can happen to a child. I can't make a judgement call until I know the full details, but it sounds like the parents should have aired on the side of caution a little bit more.

...is there anything good out there? Used to use Windows movie maker but the new one is terrible. I would 'acquire' some well known programs but I really don't need something that complicated. In fact all I need right now is something that'll crop 20% off the top of a hour long vid.

This is the part that strikes me that she's putting a lot of it on. If she's genuinely in some kind of non controllable panic state then she wouldn't have just been able to snap out of it when you picked up the phone to call 911. More like she just wanted to f**k with you, but didn't take it was far as having the police / ambulance come. Health insurance out here is criminal. My wife has a bunch of health issues due to not looking both ways before crossing the street, so she has her healthcare paid for by the state. We pay $1.10 co-pay for all her meds, and she gets everything else for free. Mother in law also gets her health insurance paid for by the state because she has low income, although because of her income she has to pay bigger co pays $3-$5 and about $60 a month. She might also have to pay co pays at doctors visits, something like $10-$30. I have no health insurance, my work offers it, but to be honest it's so expensive it's actually cheaper for me just to pay cash. It would be like $300 a month, wouldn't include meds, there's massive co pays and a bunch of other shit which basically means I'd have to pay up to $500 a year before they'd even cover anything. The only thing it's good for if if you get seriously ill or get into an accident. Oh and also health insurance (unless it's from the state) doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. So because I've already been to the doctors to find out that I have PVC's, if I got insurance by work, I wouldn't be able to see a doctor about it, or get meds for it as I had it before getting insurance. If I get cancer or something like that I'm flying home.

How much are you paying exactly Muel? Meds cost hundreds of pounds each. If my wife didn't get health insurance from the state, we'd probably have to pay $5k a month.

Never really ever watch TV now. Netflix, youtube are the legal alternatives, any shows I really want to watch i'll just download. It's the beginning of the end of TV really, won't be long before the internet / TV will merge into one thing.
