  1. I see what you mean. Here's a few points to give a rough estimate of what I want/expect, so hopefully someone can give me a ballpark figure: 4 categories, 14 sub-categories and 70 products3 logo variations; main, small and icon sizeOne click adding to basket - using AJAX or similarSEOSeamless integration with NochexModern, colourful design10 additional information pagesEasy editing/deleting/adding of productsPreferred technology: PHP/MYSQLThis isn't an exhaustive list, but if anyone on here things they can do it the contact me, or if they know of a similar size of site and how much was paid for it.
  2. Hi all, I'm in the process of getting a website together and need to know how much, on average, I should pay. Basically I'm after two quotes; one for a bespoke e-commerce solution and one with an already existing solution. Both need to come with branding - logo, letterhead, colour scheme. So, how much for both? Also, I know a few people on here do webdesign so if anyone wants to quote me a price/contact me for further details then that's fine. Thanks, Tom
  3. What the hell? Do you live in a BT Exchange by any chance?
  4. A patent would be the best way to protect your product. However, you have to appreciate the costs in time and money of getting a patent, and whether you will actually get one. You have to be sure that there is nothing similar to your product and that it is totally new. You will definitely need a patent if your product/invention is truly revolutionary and if it's in a market were it is likely to be copied or emulated. You only really get a business adviser if you open a business account with them. As for being taken seriously, a rock-solid business plan is a must, make sure everything is clear and fully explored and that your projections are entirely correct/plausible. I opened my first business account when I was 18 and was really nervous I would be told to f**k right off, but the bank staff were really nice and after looking over my business plan they seemed happy. As long as you're confident and you know what you're talking about then you will be fine. Be as transparent as possible and be realistic, there's nothing worse than having your figures worked over and them realising that you've screwed up or that you've exaggerated. It may be harder for you to secure a business account and an adviser as all you really have is a product, or an idea for a product, as opposed to an idea for a business. Have a look at Startups.co.uk and Businesslink.gov.uk for more advice. Good luck!
  5. I see what you mean, but wouldn't the difference in your bed make the idea original? Anyways, I'm splitting hairs
  6. How do you patent an idea that isn't original?
  7. Unemployed as of three days ago. It's been great so far.
  8. What a shit match! I fully expected The Iceman to kick some serious arse, but it wasn't to be...
  9. I would suggest using some kind of website to construct your questionnaire and process the results, it will be fairly time-consuming to create your own. The HTML side would be easy but the processing side would take some time, but maybe Simon could help you out. However, here's something I cooked up. There's probably a more complicated way to do this but what the hell. <table border="1" width="300px"> <tr width="150"> <td rowspan="2" colspan="2"> </td> <td colspan="2">Patient had an MI</td> </tr> <tr width="150"> <td><strong>Yes</strong></td> <td><strong>No</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2">New Test A</td> <td><strong>Positive</strong></td> <td>19</td> <td>44</td> </tr> <tr> <td><strong>Negative</strong></td> <td>1</td> <td>36</td> </tr> </table>[/codebox]

  18. A third option would be to do a home learning course in whatever language you wish. Although, most are in Visual Basic .NET, which can be used for both web development (ASP.NET) and 'normal' computer programming. It all depends on what area you want to go into, and what's available to you.
