  1. The main reason i was looking at these spokes is they come in black and in lengths of 240, 236 and 220 so i can have black spokes and not have to cut and roll new threads. i know halo do black in most sizes but i found the coating chipped off and rust comes out if there are other options i would prefer a round spoke at a cheaper price. As the cx rays are going to cost around £100 for the wheel build.
  2. Has ewan got any worries about the frame, worth you asking him he's deffinitly not planning on selling the bike if he has any conserns about the frame.

  4. New burgtec's i am looking forward to getting a set, i have some customs on order fir next month
  5. I was going to rebuild my wheels with them. currently have hope hubs on viz 24" singlewall rims. Since building them they have required no trueing or tensioning. plan was to rebuild on the cx ray spokes with sapim alloy nipples and hm nipple washers. but was going to use radial front non disc side. i am just a bit worried don't wanna spend a fortune on spokes if there not up for it.
  6. I will stick to plain 2mm spokes. Thanks for the advice
  7. As the title has anyone used them for trials? there black and available in all the sizes i need for a good light 24" wheel build. the sapim site has a lot of test results putting them up as very strong. But i just cant see how they can be.
  8. Sounds ok but be prepared to buy a new frame soon after.
  9. The air piston setup the pikes used comes with a seperste air tube that just sits inside the upper leg like a cartridge air system worth looking into mate. go on sram.com bottom left of the screen click "service" on the next page click "forks" under the rockshox banner. find the spare parts download it has every rockshox product in exploded view and a list of the parts comparable and available. good luck with the forks http://www.sram.com/service/rockshox/7
  10. I would be up for cannock chase one Sunday if i am free from looking after my little girl
  11. I have run quite a few different ffw types and since changing to hope pro 2 last year i would never run a ffw on any trials bike again, ffw always seem to have that skipping where they bite but then move to the next set of teeth on the ratchet. when that happens just as you line up for a drop or gap to the next rail, it would cause me to stop and fail. the hope hub has done this to me on one occasion when it needed one new spring. in terms of trusting the kit on your bike to help you learn the tricks n stunts a hope hub will help loads.
  12. Had a hail storm in congleton the other day just ten mins or so i had white bits all ver me
  13. I have been on slx brakes all year, they love this weather were getting at the min. no problems with them and i ride them twice a day to work. And one big ride every week rain or shine
  14. Halo used to make purple rims mabye a quick search on pinkbike or ebay... or maybe something from spank i think they may do a purple rim too.
  15. The frame has 4 point mounts and it comes with the alloy fork. the standard zoot has a heavy steel fork and handlebar you will spend more money replacing them
  16. I needed to use the snail cams on mine but yours is alloy so it may just work without.
  17. http://m.pinkbike.com/forum/listcomments/?threadid=146074 found this if anyone needs more info about different sus designs. i read here the orage does suffer brake jack, maybe its a good thing i really like riding oranges and konas.
  18. The orange five is 650b the alpine is still 26. you can have pikes, its full Shimano brakes and gears, and it has a threaded bb so you can have a hope in there. the orange you can change your own pivot bearings at a cheap cost. the lapierre has 8 bearings that you can change but with much more effort. And on the chainstays ot has 4 top hat bushes and 2 alloy sleeves at £12 to replace and they ware out quickly.
  19. With your budget. I would go with the five pro + pikes and reverb. £3350 ask around you will get 10% off it. Down to £3000. also think about the 2nd hand value of the bike, a lot of orange bikes hold there value well up to 5 years +.
  20. What orange don't use a pivot just above the dropout like Kona ect... Kona bikes fitted the dope arm to stop that from happening. the orange bikes only suffer from rider pedaling input, which most of the new pedal pro shocks have fixed. a quick lesson in suspension then vvp, maestro and dw link suspension have a floating pivot point to take out the pedal bob. And brake lock out. But they loose some sensitivty over small bumps and that nice feel around berms. fsr links and single pivots. Handle small bumps well, and corner very well, bit suffer from pedal bob. horst link( Kona 4 bar) work well in most places, but suffer from brake input and can buckaroo under heavy bottom outs. trek use a 4 bar/ horst but have the pivot round the axle which helps reduce brake inputs. They still suffer from buckaroo. they all suffer from some draw backs. but its all personal preference. i just advise avoiding bikes that have bad reviews and snap all the time
  21. I thought it would be ok to run a slightly wider freeride rim but drill loads out of the inner skin of the rim.
  22. A lot of the skate parks recently have everyone sign in and join membership. i take it that's something insurance based. are you in contact with your local councils sport and leisure organiser, they may have some helpful advice
