It isn't so much that the programs themselves don't work, its the driver support in the programs that has been causing many people problems. Like some people find they are all of a sudden without a dvd burner. In x64 (the 64 bit version) any driver that isn't signed off by microsft isn't allowed into the kernel and will simply fail to load. With the amount of times you get that little notice when installing something like a webcam saying "the driver for this device is not authenticated... blah blah blah" and you click okay because you want your mp3 player, webcam, dvd drive etc to work, well in vista x64 they won't. Network adapters, audio controllers and card readers are common problems because the drivers are not usually signed off by microsoft, meaning they won't work. Vista x64 also has no backwards compatibility with 16 or 32bit software, i'm still unsure as to whether a fix has been released for this by microsoft... but this means that unless a program or driver is specifically coded for x64, it simply will not work. You may well have had no problems, and in such a case you would be fortunate. But at the current point in time, the drawbacks of unsupported drivers and programs and general incompatibility far outweigh the benefits of a slightly faster system.
  2. I don't know what he sells, but he clearly isn't a shop. If he can pick up the monty freewheels from somewhere and gets them cheaper due to import tax or whatever reason its not that hard to imagine how he can sell 65 of them, especially if he can sell them at a profit while still being cheaper than most online shops. Postage for a freewheel won't be a lot so i'd imagine he can easily send them worldwide. I bought a bulk load of CD's a few years back from a company liquidation sale. I then proceeded to sell every single one of the 1000 cd's i'd bought in a space of 18 months. These were individual high quality sony ones retailing at £2 per disc... none of this 100 discs for £10 crap. I sold a lot and made a nice profit, however despite probably selling more than most shops would sell i was still just an individual selling a crap load of cd's.

Yeah, you should be fine with 90% of it. Most companies failed to make their products vista compatible and at the time of release nobody had support for the new operating system. Since then though most programs have been made compatible through new editions or updates but you'll only be able to find out whats going to work by installing it. For better compatibility go with the 32bit version rather than the 64 bit one, a lot of programs won't work in 64 bit, yet nearly all work in 32. And go with home premium if you can, it just looks a bit nicer and comes with the media centre software.

Intel core 2 duo's seem to be far better than the AMD offerings at the minute, especially in desktops as they overclock by stupid amounts so become really good value for money. If you want some competition for dell, go to your local tesco's or other computer selling supermarket. They have really good spec machines available for very cheap prices as they buy them in bulk. I know its a bit over £400, but the processor is much better linky. As to the software, you should be able to install your old software on there so long as you havn't exceeded any maximum installation limits particular software may or may not have. You may find the bigger problem will be is the software vista compatible... things like nero 6 just don't won't on vista.
  5. Just strip the paint off the pedal with nitromors and leave them silver. The pink and gold looks pretty funky.
  6. Also this one for pci-E and this one for AGP

You may not have been spotted yet, but i assure you you will be. Its slightly more or less depending on how much your usage affects the surrounding areas connection speeds, and the traffic shaping last for 4 hours or so after you've hit the limit for peak time usage. Constant "re-offenders" get their traffic shaped permanantly during peak times and from what i've read up about virgin the traffic shaping drops things like torrents down to around 10kbps tops and cuases problems with things like msn and online gaming.

Much better networking and security features. I read in a magazine the other day its one of the most secure operating systems ever made.
  9. Sounds like your hard drive could be on its way out or is rather full and the page file system is struggling to keep the information flowing. Ctrl+Alt+Del and look in the performance tab. Cpu/Page file usage should be shown on a graph which you'll be able to see any spikes in the computers usage. See if the jitters conincide with spikes on the graphs. Also try clicking start>run>type "msconfig" (without brackets) and on the startup tab de-select everything then restart the computer. If the jitters stop happening try enabling one thing at a time on that list and restarting... its long and slow but eventually you'll find the one causing the problem.
  10. I take it you picked it up while the card was idle, then compared it to the x1950's full load temp. Saving up for an 8800? You do realise that means saving another 120-140% on the cost of the x1950 , it isn't saving up some more... its doubling the price! Besides, the x1950 is still capable of holding its own in pretty much every game nowadays so the cost:performance bracket is awful with the 8800's. Basically dude, get the x1950. The 2600xt is a pointless card intended to make sales through "on paper" features without any performance to back it up. The x1950 is the better card and with both around the same price, you'd be stupid not to.

2 phonelines or a cable line and a phone line. As far as i'm aware its impossible to have 2 broadband services enabled on the same line at the same time.
  12. I'm not sure about the rotor's power entirely, but the best avids i've ever used were running rotor number 4. I also know that rotors like number 1 have a large variation in pressure which results in the brake pulsating when you apply it. It makes the front end judder and sometimes the brake works instantly while other times it has a bit of a delay in the bite. A rotor like the hayes one doesn't have the same problem.

Most places don't base it on how much you download in total, but if you donload heavily during peak times (usually defined as between 6pm-11pm). Virgin media have one of the most complex and drawn out fair usage policies going, and have the right to slow down or terminate your connection whenever they feel your using it too much without giving any notice. From the sounds of it spacemunkee's provider sounds about the best of the lot.
  14. Has the macbook got built in wireless though and is it rangemax compatible? Other option is to get an access point.
  15. Where the hell did you pick that number from? I've seen people complaining because they run at 50c at idle and between 80-90c under load. In current games at resolutions of 1280x1024 and higher the x1950pro beats both the 8600gt and the 2600xt. The effects in DX10 are barely noticeable at the minute, and the 2600 and 8600 aren't powerful enough to do dx10 justice. You'd be much better buying x1950 as its the faster card and when competant DX10 cards come around at sensible prices you can pick one up.
  16. That router is powerful enough to transmit over 100metres with a decent signal. My uncle has one and he has it in the front room. His laptop can still connect with a strong signal at the end of his 150 something yard long garden. If you have the bog-standard wireless receivers, its like a normal non rangemax'd network, with the rangemax usb receiver its ridiculously far. Unless your living in a mansion with 20 odd bedrooms it'll be fine.
  17. Yours just has a huge buckle in it. you then set the pads up as close as you could to the rim. I said i'd unbuckle it but kind of forgot in the excitement of spraying your frame :$

Like the halfords of the computing world sometimes you'll find a member of staff who know what they're on about, most of the time its just some spotty teen who'll try and flog you something to get rid of you. Prices, again like halfords, are on par or just slightly more than most other places. And again, like halfords... their service centre is a complete joke and far too expensive for what it is.
  19. He's right, its not the same thing. Crashing into things isn't part and parcel of driving a car. It happens but you wouldn't expect to hit two walls and scrape another car if your just driving out to the shops. Trials ridings different, how many times do you hit your bike on stuff because you havn't made something? The frame shouldn't be bent like that. The downtube doesn't look THAT badly damaged, as far as i can see theres one dent and a little ding on it with some scratches. It just looks bad because its got black paint on. As for this topic not doing dan's reputation any good, well i've had numerous friends complain whilst out on rides because of dans cowboy attitude. I've seen a 2 week old viz stem snap in half and he said he wasn't going to even think about warrantying that. My friends black mumba was in good condition too until the driveside dropout snapped off across the weld, not just cracked.. the entire dropout snapped off along the edge of the welding. He was told theres no way he'd warranty that either and gave him some stick about it. Those are just two examples of several. Personally, from what friends have said... theres no way i'd ever buy anything from trials-uk.
  20. Yeah, i figured it'd be over a decent amount of time.
  21. Sorry, but i feel this needs to be pointed out..... Its not hearsay at all, you may want to look up the meaning of the word. If it was hearsay he'd have said something like "my friend told me he knoes someone who's tensile broke". Fact is he said he knows people who've had problems, they may even have been his riding mates and he may even have seen the broken parts first hand. He didn't disclose further and more detailed information and without such definition it can't be called hearsay. Don't get me wrong, i know what you meant, but its irritating when people use words incorrectly. How can you say he's attempting to smear the name of your product when he's said "they're damn fine freewheels"? And to be fair, you've not posted up "any hard evidence" either, its just what you've said. I'm sure most people will take your "facts" with a pinch of salt as you'd hardly slate your own company and from what we can see theres nothing to back up what you've said, much in the same way your having a go at inur for doing. Sounds like someone selling a load of freewheels to me, not a shop. I'm not trying to say the tensile freewheels are bad, i've never used one. From what i've heard, the majority of people are fairly impressed with them. It just seems like this has all been blown out of proportion and needs to be pointed out.
  22. Really enjoyed it guys, was a right laugh.
  23. Surely that implies your supposed to use your arms when your supposed to keep your arms pretty still. Just get on the back wheel and try and jump with your legs whilst keeping your arms rigid. As if you were jumping up and down on the floor without the bike, but holding a pair of handlebars in front of you trying to keep the bars at exactly the same height in front of you. Then get on the bike and do the same thing.
  24. UNdo the stem clamp, wipe them bars and stem with a clean cloth to remove any grit or muck that may be causing the creak, then put grease in the bolt threads and whack everything back together REALLY tight. Should sort it out for you
  25. So its not just stuttering when you type, but generally the computer keeps stuttering? As suggested, try defraging it. Also try running memtest to see if your RAM is still functioning alright. Maybe back everything up and re-install windows?
