What Do You Want To See In Next Gen Trials Frames?
Krisboats replied to m4rko's topic in Trials Chat
Horizontal dropouts, wheelbases over 1100mm, detachable brake mounts like on the azonic steelhead frames (replaceable if mount thread is stripped and repositionable for better use with horizontal dropouts) and finally but not least... nice paint jobs instead of silver. -
Which one is viccy square? Is it the place with the steps and the large water feature and the stone lion creature things up the side? Where is it on here?

Got a pretty neat style there dude, those switch footed wheelie ups were smooth as silk and looked effortless. Liked it a lot mate, nice one.

I think you should have taken a picture that has all of your nose in f**k it, still looks straight.

Beast, someone with the same name as me Your mate told me the edges of those stickers didn't stick and that he just took them off .

How Strong Is The 05-06 Xtp
Krisboats replied to cadbury's cream egg's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
No it can't. Aluminium doesn't rust . -
I had a rim from selectbikes, ordered it one evening, it was here first thing the next day. With free delivery too, so i was very impressed. Pretty sure it was a fiver cheaper than at tartybikes as well

I'm there, and i'll be stealing your cranks ash

I don't think denting was really the issue. More to do with the way they'd just casually fold in half round an object.
-
My point is anyone in this thread can say any number they like. Without a picture or video... the posts are useless. In reality though i can sidehop 43" over a high jump pole. Never sidehop onto objects though so i couldn't say.

Ha ha, yep.. i wasn't paying attention at all really :$

Thats the topic i thought he meant, and whilst i thought there were more "helpful" replies i still think martyns misread what was said as most people seem to have said they found the ones who didn't take help, had amazing bikes and were gobby little shits that were annoying, which i think is fair enough to be honest. But then that is a specific example of a type of person, not beginner riders collectively... we in no way generalised to the extent where all beginners are annoying like he says we did. I don't know what being blacklisted really entails but you shouldn't have to be worried about expressing your opinion because of it. Fact of the matter is if that IS the article he was refferring to then he's written complete shite in his MBUK article. I personally think he's been quite ironic in what he's written to be honest with the way he complains about riders pushing beginners away, when he's doing the same thing in making out as if trials forum is such a bad place. The amount of good things on here with regards to rides, information, parts for sale and general banter far overwhelms some small comments inconsiderate members may make. But in making out we're just arrogant tits on this forum its the beginners who lose out by not coming here.

Definately. So is there going to be a larger dvd with loads more footage or was leechyboy doing a new dvd and thought he'd visit TRA for a bit for a little bit of TRA sectionage? Just didn't seem too clear from that. A full DVD of that pair though would be immense, ryan comes over to visit TRA and go riding then he goes and takes TRA stateside for insane riding and to drop off the empire state building.

Too true. Plus it can be really good fun "showing off" in front of a load of people and you seem to give it just that little bit more to impress, resulting in better riding and a better vibe.

You know in order to dish a wheel you can just go round one side of the wheel tightening the spokes by a quarter or half a turn. Literally only takes a minute. If the spokes are that stiff maybe its the frame flexing rather than the wheel? Or maybe a broken/cracked axle?

Thats the problem with the article though, martyn didn't seem to distinguish between the actual people we were describing and EVERY beginner rider. Instead we get made out to be a forum full of mean, frustrated cynics and how we are really "just some tit on a bike". Obviously ending with Martyns moral high ground ending sentence. I wonder if that article actually caused a reader to get the wrong impression of the forum and as a result they'll never come on here? Don't get me wrong, there probably was a couple of people who came out with a short comment like "yeah i hate kids, they piss me off". But the majority of us were having a discussion and expressing views and opinions... which is what i believe is supposed to be the entire point of a forum. Fair enough if he'd put a link to the actual thread so viewers could make up their own mind, but having nothing except his misinterpreted evaluation of what we were talking about kind of paints us in an uneccessarily bad light. I don't think i've ever seen a rider just comepletely ignore a beginner when they've genuinely asked for advice, or even a rider to take the piss out of them instead of helping. I know i've tried to help a few people with their riding while we've been out and i nearly always try and give pointers even to those who seem competant enough already.

Yeah, i did think about grinding the pins down :$ Only problem with setting it up without any TPA on is the prongs seems to stick out further than the pad material, so i'd be setting the prongs up right next to the rim like they are at the minute. I guess i'm stuck with either sort the sticky piston out or put the plazzie material in the heatsink backings . Cheers for the suggestions though Ad.

Aren't the A2z ones bolt on ones rather than a full on adapter that mounts to the dropouts and brake lugs? From what i heard of the A2z ones they work alright going forwards but don't clamp enough to stay seated when you apply the brake whilst travelling backwards. So for something like trials where the brake needs to have a good amount of backwards hold this adapter would not be very helpful in the slightest. There was one on the onza site that looked alright, looked a bit flimsy but customisable to multiple bike sizes at the same time. Other than that get a hold of a piece of aluminium or steel and get designing/filing/cutting drilling and tapering. Or ask a suitable company/individual (edd potts for example: Dave85 on here) to see if you could commision them to build you a custom one for your frame. The best looking one i've seen to date was for a python i think. Anyway, it hooked over the wheel axle and bolted into the 4 bolt mounts too so it was nice and secure. It fitted snugly across the length of the seatstay to distribute braking force and it looked to be soildy built.

I'm having the same problem with mine at the minute, only for some reason when i put the power down the rim hits the four prongs on the maggie pistons. Its never been a problem before, and i've never noticed the rim flex... only my plazzies are pretty worn and my brake has a lazy piston so if i move them further out one pad rubs on the rim all the time. To be fair though the four prongs on the cylinders are barely 2-3mm away from the sidewall on each side so as to use as little tpa as possible. Anyone got any ideas for a quick fix that doesn't involve dismantling the brake and lubing/cleaning the pistons? I'm very lazy at the minute.

Just out of curiosity when exactly was that thread? Because if its the one i'm thinking of i'm pretty sure people were talking about how the new riders who get everything paid for by mum and dad, who can't ride, constantly come out with crap/misbehave at rides then give up soon after realising trials isn't for them and how they are not the sort of people who progress into the sport. We also touched on how we thought they lost a certain pride and connection you have with the bike if you work hard for your money and build it yourself, rather than picking a load of shiny coloured bits off the tarty site and forward the bill to mummy and daddy. We were talking about the appreciation and the determination of seeing it through and how we felt sorry for those that would never know this. I don't mean to take this off topic but if thats the thread he read i think he got his wires crossed soemwhere along the lines and didn't read what was being said. I know i wrote something similar to the above because its what i believe, its my opinion. I do feel sorry for those who never experience that connection with the sport because they expect it all to come so easily. On a side note (and this is just completely hypothetical here) i wonder if martyns column would have been read/remembered by quite as many people if it wasn't a shocking story about how stupid the guys on trials forum are and how we want to keep the sport to ourselves? Of course i'm just spitballing here... not suggesting anything am i ?

I think this year we've seen some things that the sport has needed. Things like the competition in blackpool, right in the general publics face. Before it was just out in fields and at things like the bike show so it was only really other riders that got to see it. Nowadays people are doing their own demo's and things at village fairs and things like this and theres more people out riding on the streets. Its only been recently that the majority of chavs and the public in general have actually started to recognise it as "that trials stuff" rather than bmx'ing. I think the increase in equipment and wide availability of parts is helping also, as people don't have to really look for them as though they were part of some kind of underground cult. Bikedock, chainreactions and other big biking stores have started selling more parts so people can find bits much more easily... not to mention the amount of rider-owned companies that have been set up and are thriving. Tartybikes, heatsink, select, cleanbikes, mjcycles, trialsman on ebay... they're all owned by people who know what they're on about and who are genuine and helpful people who keep in contact with the riders through here. Which brings me onto here. Most people nowadays have a computer and the internet, especially in the last couple of years or so. We have it so easy making contact with other riders that you soon make friends and have people to help you progress and have a laugh with. Most of the people i ride with now i've met solely through this site, with a suprisingly large amount of riders nearby. Hell we've even had the wiki map system put up within the past couple of days so people going to a new place will be able to go round to all the riding places the locals use, which increases the chances of meeting people who may still not use this site. Trials is getting interesting now, and its something that continuously impresses people. Theres no way its a "dying sport"

No problemo mate.

Found this.... Hope its of some use to you dude. Seems i made a folder with a load of pictures of echo bikes way back in the day, guess i was kind of obsessed with them . I think you sent me this while i was trying to get some pictures from jonny jones of the adobe settings i needed to make my first vid, way back in the day when i was using dial-up. I remember having a mad panic because the computer didn't like having 4 pictures being sent over msn
