  1. That cog looks like it has a massive base on it... how the hell did that dig in?
  2. For bleeding, my lever gets put in its upmost position to lower the chances of air getting trapped in the system. Which for maguras and RB's its horizontal, so the lever is parallel to the floor. For riding my lever is generally at a horizontal position when the bike is in the back wheel position, which makes it about 45 degrees to the floor when bike is level. A good personal guide is to undo the levers and jump on the bike, get it on the back wheel and the levers will shift into your natural position. Simply jump off the bike and tighten them where they are. Thats easy, undo the lockring, slide off any spacers. Wrap a cloth around the exposed freehub body, clamp with mole grips. Use rubber/plastc/metal hammer and hit it anti clockwise. To make it easier to get the cog on and off again in future using sandpaper to wear the notches left on the freehub will do wonders.
  3. Subtle as a sledgehammer I don't know if i could do it myself... it'd turn coming on the forum to chat into coming on the forum to show i'm not a lazy sod. New member validating could be quite a fun task though. In fact just moderating new members in general would be fun, i like decyphering their illteracy and trying to understand what they mean from the incomplete sentences and incomplete posts. Whats reading without a little challenge
  4. From what i can tell from numerous postie friends, its to do with them having been offered 2.5% wage increase, and they thought it wasn't enough. The union gave them a little ballot to decide whether they should go on strike or decline the offer. The majority said strike, despite a fair few of the workers being happy with the 2.5% increase and not wanting to strike or decline. Privately run postal offices were open, so ones that sell random things like magazines and stuff as well as post services. Collections also happened today, only slightly earlier than scheduled and there was just one for the whole day. A fair amount of workers actual went into work regardless of the strike... fair do's i guess. Postal services will be back on track in an hour and 15 minutes, so everything'll be back to normal... just with a delay due to the post having been slowed down. Should be right as rain again by tuesday. So yeah, you'll all be receiving post again tomorrow, just if your expecting something... it may be a day or two later than expected.
  5. Might make a few more of these, have a thrashed bliptv maintenance channel or something. Tommorrows task, bleeding brakes Anybody got any others they want doing?
  6. I know someone who purchased 28600gt's and stuck them in sli. Performed slightly better than the 8800gts version and just slightly under the 8800gtx version. Though cheaper than both Poopipe, you seen crysis? That already looks a lot better in dx10 compared to dx9. The directx9 version has less objects on screen, the effects aren't as realistic and a few of the features are completely missing, like motion blur depth of field etc.
  7. They are a lot better yes. generally... the bigger the number and more expensive the card is, the better it is. The 7600/x1800 will be a bit better and should be able to play your new resolution fine. However they "may" not play it at full settings. The 7800 or x1950 will be a shitload better than your current card and will play it well at full settings at your screen size. If i were you i'd be getting an x1950... I do love my 7600gt, but the x1950's are just such good value for money.
  8. n00b Thats not your internet connection speed.... thats your network connection speed. And thats a slow wireless connection anyway. My mums laptop connects at 196mbps , sisters is faster as she's only one room away from the router.
  9. Technically it should... but only if other people do the same. Theres no direct link to downloading faster if you upload faster, its all dependant on if the other people follow suit.
  10. I think everyones covered most of the angles, but yes... bigger screen is more strain on the graphics card. Upgrading the CPU will do little except for releiving slowdown you may get when you have lots of units in C&C 3 so the gameplay should be smoother, but like i say... if its jumpy when you first start a mission with 2-3 units its your graphics card thats lagging.... or RAM. Besides, for the performance gain you'd see from buying a 4200+ you'd be better off spending to money on a new graphics card. For the same price an nvidia 7600/7800 or ati x1800/x1950 would be a much better option with regards to speeding up your gaming.
  11. linky Looks like you got 2mb
  12. Ha ha, to be fair... that was the most savage grind i've ever done. I got it so deep/sharp that my rock pad blues were reduced from near new to about 1-2mm in a little 30 minute play on the curb on the front garden. And despite what it looks like, my hand was under the other side of the rim... just the camera angle makes it look bad. I did point out that you should be careful though Shorts are mans shorts not gay ones. It was doen after lunch... now i wake up at 11.00'ish, have lunch at one... so i guess it was filmed around 2.00 in the afternoon . I tried to cram the time down to fit it onto youtube, and as a result the list of safety gear was removed and replaced with "you should always wear saftey gear when using a power tool such as this one" or something to that effect.
  13. Tiscali also have a general monthly policy of over 40gb as a measure of heavy usage... in or outside of peak times. Which breaks the terms and conditions but hey... its a corporation... they take money and stiff you at any chance they get. AOL may be the same with the general monthly amount as well though Just out of curiosity... what speed is that? As i'm paying £14.99 a month and am getting 8mb broadband. £9.99 a month gets you 2mb broadband with tiscali. And theres no crappy AOL software to instal and (have a massive struggle with during the) uninstall. fast4 do 8mb broadband for £14.99 a month too. If your getting 2mb or below i reckon your getting standard/expensive price broadband to be honest.
  14. Those guidelines are primarily aimed at students coming straight out of college/sixth form. If your going in as (non offence) a mature student, they'll want an interview with you and they'll check the grades you have got and your attitude etc. Most mature students are accepted as they actually want to learn, rather than just trying to apply so they have a course while they get pissed up with friends in halls. Best bet is to ring the uni up and ask them directly, ask to speak to a course leader or even better to make an appointment to go and see them and you'll be well on your way into getting on to learning.
  15. AOL actually have introduced a Fair Usage Policy. So heavy downloaders will suffer consequences, especially if using p2p between 5.00pm and 11.00pm weeknights. Consequences can range from limiting connection speed and disconnecting users completely, to making users pay costs to compensate the other users that are having slow speeds because of you downloading. Tiscali are pretty useless. I got FUP'd and had some idiot put "an aggressive monitor" on my line which cut me off every few minutes and reduced speeds to less than that of dial up. Took them about 2 months to fix it. fast4 look pretty good though, and should be what i'll be trying next due to the whole "no contract time limit" thing. I can leave whenever i want. Chris says BE are pretty good. He keeps trying to convince me to go with them, they just dont have coverage in my area
  16. Nokia 3200 Cheap (abuot £5-10 on ebay), built in torch (hold down * key and it lights up a whole room), built to last.... My old one was kicked down the stairs, thrown off the 12th floor of towers (battery fell out on impact but still worked when re-assembled), thrown out moving car, fell off on air AND nemesis, was used to stir a drink (which progressed to ringing it underwater, was funny), set on fire, used to make a drop gap, used as a hammer on numerous occasions, as well as car window smashing aid (legitimate reason).... finally got destroyed by friends girlfriend who threw it off a balcony and broke the screen conenction inside. Now got a k800... its nice.
  17. Yeah, it is on the wrong way round. Put a jubilee clip on it too, it'll look a bit untidy but i'm sure the slack chain within the first few minutes will outweight its looks.
  18. GU? That my friend, is a coustellier
  19. You say that like you've driven the finely tuned and custom built cars in the current games? If you stick a decent steering wheel on your pc, play the nfs game in the cockpit view then they actually do handle quite appropriately. I can honestly say i've never seen a gallardo take a corner at 120+mph without sliding and its the same in the game. And yes... i have driven a range of cars like that. Benefit of knowing the photographer at track days at the race tracks
  20. Might get more interest if it wasn't in bike pics..... ... retard
  21. My left rock pad blue is great, but the right one kind of sucks... i might put a plazzie on the right and see how that works.
  22. It would make it about as hard as any other game really. You think EA knew how different cars handled before making the need for speed games? Its called market research, they have to find out about something before they go and put it in the game. Like has been said though... theres no market for it really so nobody would bother. Maybe in 5 years or so.
  23. Even magura blacks are good with tar, so you can't say those pads are good on a smooth rim. ANY pad will be with tar. Thats why people have grinds, tar and water don't mix well and you'll soon find your brake stops working entirely.
  24. It wouldn't really be hard on a control kind of aspect. I have mtx mototrax for the xbox and while its meant to be a motox game, if you slow right down you can pop it to the rear wheel and even rear wheel gap. I've gapped things, front taps, ups to front. Its all do-able, so making a 3d moto trials game would be well easy. All you'd have to do for a biketrials one would be to have say left stick controlling the bikes balance point, right trigger as pedal tension, a as jump strength, left trigger as the brake. It wouldn't be that hard at all. In fact, i reckon you'd find it hard to find a use for all the buttons on the remote, as trials has a lot less moves than any other biking sport (except downhill/xc maybe)
