  1. MAD needs riders for a one day event- Date- 3rd June- DATE CORRECTION! Location- Manchester Event- A mass participation ride for all types of cyclists. What does MAD need-10 riders to join 5 MAD Team riders to take part in the mass ride but break away during the day and ride natural stuff along the route! Details- We are paying riders well for this gig. Please e-mail directly if you are interested. giles@m-a-d.co.uk
  2. Just to let everyone know our position on the London Show- We were there with Land Rover and 2x2 our main sponsors. It cost M.A.D money to be there.(although we did get a generous contribution to the beer fund from our kind sponsors) Our objective was to provide an interactive Trials test track for non trials riders to showcase our bikes and get people riding at an entry level. We had over 400 people use our facility over 4 days. We did a couple of little demo's during the day (which in no way conflicted with the main show in the R&R arena) purely to generate interest and show people what could be achieved with a LOT of practice! This was our 10th Bike show in the UK at this level, we loved doing this one the most. All the guys on the stand worked bloody hard and partied even harder. KYSO. Some pics Giles took-
  3. Hello, Giles Wolfe here! Lets just spend a moment to clarify things here shall we? 1- Team M.A.D. has been around since 1996. 2- The London Freewheel Trials event WAS an event organized and run by M.A.D 3- M.A.D is a limited company which happens to run Trials related events among other things. 4- M.A.D does have a heart and feelings, if you want to slag us off, have the balls to do it to our faces. 5- if you are coming to the bike show in London, perhaps there will be your perfect opportunity, I'll be there in person, I would love to chat and hear your expert views. 6- KIIYP!
  4. Thanks for your words of encouragement and enthusiasm James! So here is the official line up, in no particular order, from the mouth of the horse- Danny Butler Ashley Butler Andri Burton Martyn Ashton- Nadine Staiforth Jack Meek Matt Barlow Ben Slinger Neil Tunnicliffe Stan Shaw Yes I am organising the Trials side of the show. I’m working directly for NBS (who are the NASS team) My budget is next to nothing. I have a nice big space to fill in the NEC Arena next to the BMX lads and the dirt jumping. We have 1 ½ hours to fill in one hit during each show day! Dave B is lending a hand, (cheers Dave) and my good friend Adam at Tarty will be helping me on the mike. So that’s all I can tell you at the moment.
  5. Ok, I dont useually do this but I feel a reply is in order- First of all the bikes are fully built colours are RED 1.3 WHITE 1.1 Blue 1.2 These are nothing to do with Saracen as our relationship with them ended back in January. We have spent a LOT of time and effort trying to make the bikes as best we can for the price points. The brake mounts are spot on! This is PHASE 1 of developement for the new products.
  6. Thought you people may like a quick sneek preview of the new 2007 PHASE bikes from MAD. Here's a pic of the PHASE 1.2 which will retail at £499. Other bikes are the 1.3 @ £299 and the flagship 1.1 @ £699 Just for your information there wil be 50 exclusive dealers throughout the UK for the bikes.
  7. Want to get paid to ride??? Here’s a chance to ride professionally for the 2006 season. M.A.D are looking for a rider to join Ian Drummond on the Extreme Stunt Show Tour. www.extremestuntshow.com Due to personal reasons we have had a rider drop out at the last minute, so are giving a lucky applicant a once in a lifetime chance. The Tour dates are as follows- April 11th to May 1st May 5th to May 8th May 10th to Sep 3rd The Deal The Tour schedule consists of a different venue every day performing around the UK. The shows mostly take place from 7:30 to 10:00 pm through weekdays and during the afternoon of a weekend / public holiday. The actual MAD riding part of the show will only be a maximum of 15 mins per night!! You will be on the road for the duration of the tour, so need to have no other commitments As a team member you will receive a weekly wage (amount to be agreed depending on experience), MAD product support, and all travel expenses. Accommodation As the Tour is so mobile the entire staff uses caravans for accommodation, the MAD Team caravan is a 5 birth set up with full cooking and sanitary facilities. Duties You should be capable of riding the MAD display rig for around 15 minutes per show in all but the worst weather conditions. The rig consists of an 8ft Mercedes Sprinter van and several platforms with ladders, see www.m-a-d.co.uk for pics. You would be expected to help set up all MAD equipment and then help with the general show set up. You would be responsible for your own general house keeping and maintenance of your own equipment. Personality A long Tour can be hard work, you will need to be easy going and willing to put in the hard graft where its needed, it also helps if you’re well travelled. Ian has done many overseas trips and Tours for MAD so you will be in good hands. The show crew ( Extreme Stunt Show) are all great guys – very laid back and easy to work with, always available and willing to help each other out. Summary So there you have it – a chance to experience the life of a pro demo rider – paid to ride, free kit, expenses covered. Have you got what it takes?? Due to the short notice you must act very quickly on this offer if you are interested. Please, No time wasters. For more info drop us a line on both info@tawtteam.com and stunttour@m-a-d.co.uk
  8. I rest my case. Need we continue this train of thred Gentlemen? Beau, however old you are, please have a word with your English teacher, I have felt for a while my 25p in the pound really is going to waste these days. You, are a shining example, heads above the rest of such a waste. I hope you can take not only some words of solice and wisdom from what has been said, but I really hope you can understand our points and perspectives. Cheers Mr MAD. ps- Never ever give up the riding, no matter what form or type, its always a bike!
  9. Can of worms......Check. Can opener.........Check.
  10. Gentlemen (and ladies), An official word from M.A.D’s very own Giles Wolfe (that’s me, the Boss!) Last weekend Team MAD attended The Outdoor Show, an event aimed at a demographic age range of 18-80 years olds, male and female. M.A.D’s attendance at this event took 6 months of planning with the show organizers, sponsors, marketing agencies and logistic crews. We had 4 top quality riders at the show, in the shape of- Chris Towes (who started on the Team as a mechanic and has worked his way up to doing over 400 shows all over Europe, but does not ride so much these days, mainly due to other work commitments) Simon Sagar- (who was spotted by me at NASS in Peterborough back in 2004, and who impressed the riders so much with not only his riding but his attitude. He has done more overseas trips for M.A.D than any other rider in its 10 year history) Matt Barlow (who was runner up in Hop Idol 2004 and as far as I’m concerned is one of the nicest most personable people in his chosen sport) Nadine Staniforth (who stepped up to the challenge despite never doing anything like it in her life and pulled it off with immense passion and flare) After build up of our arena all day on Thursday, we had 3 show days with 4 ½ hour demos per day ahead of us. For the record, the M.A.D show was totally choreographed. We have found from the past that this is the best format to use. We base this on a few little known facts; here are some secrets for you to help you on your way. Work with your client. Work with your client and finally, work with your client. Now let me think for a bit who have we done stuff for, oh yes I remember, to name a few- Coke Cola- 1 month tour of Saudi Arabia. Jacques Villnerves 30th Birthday party. Blue Peter live performances x 3 Launch party for Puma footwear. Orange mobile Phone product launches. Land Rover cars dealer days. In the case of The Outdoor Show, our client Skoda had very specific requirements as to how they wanted the show format. I do apologize to anyone who watched the demo’s and thought they were not of the usual high standard of riding expected from M.A.D. I did however find that most of the 1500 people that watched each show (please bear in mind the use of the words “show” and “performance”) seemed to like what they saw. We had a good chat with quite a few happy punters after the performances and I have to say I was very pleased with the feedback. On a couple of occasions people even asked us how they could get into the sport. So I’m quite happy that approximately 18,000 people went home content and maybe thinking to themselves “what a good thing for my son/daughter to get involved with”. Having read a few of the posts on this topic, I’m feel very disappointed that we did not raise the bar (so to speak) or push the limits as far as we could have for a few individuals that attended the show. Perhaps those individuals disappointed with M.A.D’s performance would be so kind as to supply there names and address so Team M.A.D can really give them what they rightly and justifiably deserve!!!! I don’t often reply on this forum, but I do read many posts. “Thank you” to all of you who understand what it is MAD does and what we are about. To those inconsequential twats who don’t understand, “lend me your brain, I want to build an idiot!” Bottom line- opinions are like arseholes, everyone’s got one.

    Nass 2005

Hi to all for 2005. First of all, hope to see a lot of you at the Bike Show this year, please come and support Hop Idol over the two days. It’s going to be a great final. Second things. I'm having a meeting next week with the NASS top people; we are of course going to be hosing what we hope to be a bigger and better comp for 2005. Here's the deal, if you guys want the best Trials playground we can afford to build, we need your help. I'm looking for 4 volunteers to come to NASS on the Wednesday before the show. You need to be fit, willing and able, prepared to work hard, and have a decent amount of common sense. (NASS is a big deal with lots of health and safety considerations!) I warn you in advance, it is hard work, and I can get a tad stressed out! But you will be rewarded with food during the build up days, your own camp zone area way in advance of the masses, and of course free entrance to NASS for the duration. Not to mention a valued input into the Trials arena. If I can secure the right budget for NASS this year, we can have an absolutely fantastic Trials arena, but like I said, I need your help. So any comments, views, volunteers??? Giles Wolfe (Team MAD)

    Mass Hop Idol

MASS HOP IDOL 2004 There’s a whole new range of Saracen bikes and a whole new Bike Show format to contend with this year. So, instead of a number of auditions we’re going to do it in one MAD frenzy at the end of the year. A weekend of concentrated Trials fury, featuring all the kit, all the starts and some of the best young riders in the territory. If you want to be one of them, here’s what you do- Present yourself as a candidate for the 30-rider shortlist. Giles is very strict about this. If they’re going to promote anything, pro-riders must be able to promote themselves. So get yourself a good video showing your skills and put together a clear attractive but concise CV telling us exactly why we should pick you. Wait and hope Attend the auditions at a secret venue. If you make the top eight, appear in the Trials arena on Saturday at the Bike Show, for a semi-final showdown. Appear on Sunday for the Final. What you get. Winner and runner up get a year’s sponsorship contract with MAD, including all the 2005 kit. A 2005 Saracen MAD Team Issue (limited issue) bike worth £1500, plus al the spares and parts you could dream of. Expenses and entry fees for comps. Salary when you perform demo’s Travel the world! You must be 16 years of age or over and able to attend auditions/demos/comps as and when, with certified parental support or by independent means.
