Likewise, I shall have to put a couple together

Still no good for playing arma3 with its 32bit executable and 2-4 core usage

It is indeed a trombone

The chip is in the post, got a couple of i5s and xeons watching as well All being well I should get the refund tomorrow and I'll grab something. Still really tempted with a xeon x3430, locked 18 multi but it's basically an i5 750 with a lower clock speed, run the bclk at 225 and that's cracked 4ghz with the ram at 1800mhz. The lynnfield memory controller is much faster than the clarkdale so I may not even need to run the ram so fast, but hey if I can why not edit: oh and the x3430 can be had for less than 30 quid!

That's not a trumpet....

GTX660 these days, about 40w less than the 260 I had, but that is maximum load so not really applicable at boot load. I tried it with and without the gpu (there is no onboard on the i5 750) but it should still boot or error without a gpu, cpu alone, cpu with ram and cpu with ram and gpu. All other peripherals disconnected so no drives or usb devices. Plug it all back in for the i3 and robert is your aunties live in lover One curious thing about it that I forgot to mention, with the i5 installed (in any configuration) the fans/leds would pulse then go dead, a couple of seconds later it would try again and repeat indefinitely (well till I got bored of sitting there). If it fails to post normally due to OC failure then it does auto retry until it resets the bios to default at which point it works. As the bios was defaulted before I started I guess it would just keep retrying because it hasn't posted.

OCZ modstream 520, was pretty expensive when I got it, admitted a long time ago now, got to be 6+ years old but has always been solid
-
Wasn't it spawned from a thread on here? Someone put "I accidentally a....." instead of "I accidentally bought a......" and has been used since. This is the only place I've seen it used though
-
It was listed as working, the only thing that it might be is psu because the i5 takes 20w more but I can't see that being an issue seeing as its been running the i3 at such silly overclock for ages. It is an old psu though and perhaps it just isn't supplying enough oomph on the cpu voltage on startup?
-
The i5 is DOA Put it into my machine, won't post, no warning beeps, fans spin up momentarily and then it cuts the power. Put the i3 back in boots up happy as you like with the overclock reset from bios memory. Buggerit! Have asked the seller for a refund/replacement, hopefully shouldn't be any issue as they accept 14 day returns and it was sold as working

i5 750 just turned up at work, will report back later when it has melted from the overclock

Depending on who the carrier is will depend on the handling fee. I believe if it's DHL etc. from start to finish I think it is included in the shipping costs, they will hold the package until you pay the customs. If it is handled at this end by royal mail it is £8 or so + the customs charge which you pay on collection from the depot. When I got my narrow-wide chainring from wolftooth in the states it cost £35 for the chainring, a little over £8 for vat and another £8 quid for royal mail to have it sitting in their office for a couple of days

People who type "aswell" as well!

Not got a cable but I think I have a couple of display port-DVI adaptors at work? On another note I accidentally an i5 750, bring on 4 cores @ 4.7Ghz* *hopefully assuming it doesn't catch fire!

Heat the wax and pour it on as a liquid, might take a couple of attempts to get it right thouh
-
Oh and use beeswax to prime the mould, just get it rubbed into all surfaces and it should release ok Most pourable silicones have a release agent built in, pretty expensive though but if you can sell them for more than 5 quid a pop you're profiting massively. Google 2 part pourable casting silicone.
-
85 shore is rock hard, pourable silicone would be best although you could probably do it with a normal tube of sealant/rtv
-
Worthwhile putting a couple of vents in there and a plug to close it off, that way you can pressurise the silicone and help get air bubbles out. If you're using pourable silicone you probably wouldn't have any issues
-
Surely silicone will be plenty soft enough wouldn't it? 3D print a negative and fill it will sealant and try it
-
I'm also selling, pair of cut slicks, track only, not bothered on what they go for but taking up room http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=261652811048&globalID=EBAY-GB&alt=web
-
RTV silicone, available from most engineers suppliers for 2-3 quid a tube Degrease all surfaces properly, I tend to use isopropyl alcohol although cellulose thinners works equally well.
-
Noted, I will run some release agent down there before hand

Got some queries for you clever car people My diseasel focus has stopped playing nicely when it comes to starting on cold mornings now, cranks fine but takes ages to fire, I guess that the plugs are shot? Are they just a screw in and out as per sparkplugs? When I brake hard or accelerate hard I occasionally get a single knock/clunk from the front offside wheel, any suggestions? I had new lower arms, track rods and arb bushes in janurary, possible that a fixing just needs tightening? It doesn't happen on a regular basis, if I brake hard twice in succession it won't clunk the second time, likewise for acceleration; hard acceleration will reset the clunk though if that makes sense? When hitting wide speed bumps square on I get a creak from the front suspension when it compresses, if I hit them one wheel at a time (skewed) it doesn't happen. The only thing that connects the two sides is the arb, would greasing the bushes help any?

Bottom corner rads are 5mm, assuming the top rads are concentric they should be 7mm
