  1. Gutted for you Joe. I have been dreaming of seeing trials on BGT since it started. Unfortunately unless the judges can package it up in a cd case and make millions from it you are never going to win, however talented you are. Great job though! +1 for the singers clogging up a variety show. They have so many other shows to "win" getting abused by the music business.
  2. im out im afraid. Just as predicted southend did indeed win the league, so im off for the carnival celebrations and trophy parade today. Sorry guys
  3. i fancy it. I come through liverpool street awell. if im around at 10 ill look out for people. or see you at shell. you cant miss me, im the old git fallling off an ashton. If southend win the league i may not be in much of a state to ride though. In fact i may not have gone to sleep at 10am....
  4. ive been at the same stage for nearly a year probably 2. I know exactly why. I have grown out of my area. There just isnt any stuff big enough/challenging enough (i live in a little village with about 3 walls and a curb). we do have a woods, but god its boring. No fallen trees, no hills...and when i build stuff the ranges take it down (fire hazard) oh and i ride alone, so im never inspired or pushed to succed by others. i have been wanting/looking for pallets for flipping ages but if you saw this village you wouldnt be surprised i havent found any. And how the hell do i get them back home? And where do i put them where they wont go walkies? im bored....
  5. yep, just as i thought. im out. Im off to play football. im in the next london ride though.
  6. not done too much bad on the bike. Did spend about 3 hours trying to fit a brake booster, only to have the local bike shop fit the maggies first, then the BB on top. took them about 20 seconds. forgot to do up my front wheel on my DH bike. Found out on the first jump i came to.ouch i did ride for half an hour to local spot only to do ONE backhop up a metal box, get a puncture and walk home... And for those with engines: My dad and i drained the gearbox then filled the sump. Drove around with no oil in the gearbox for 3 weeks and twice as much as should be in the sump. And i mis read the instructions on how tight the wheel bearings should be and they overheated and seased. as i said not too much....
  7. this has been bugging me for quite some time as well. i have a particular interest cause im involved in drama and theatre production, and ive often wondered how to bring trials to the mass market. I was intrigued when the media started picking up on freerunning as an art form even though we had been doing similar stuff on bikes for ages. the only explanation that i have come up with is that we dont script our videos. Thats not to say "janet and john went out to ride their bikes and....". All i mean is that great videos just like great stories should have a beginning middle and end. they should have good artistic qualities, intesting camera angles, movement of the camera, movment into and out of shot (see below) and breaks inbetween the action for the audience to take a break. One element i think is missing from 90% of trials videos and is the difference between freerunning and trials, is entry and exit from each shot. In trials vids when we tend to turn the camera on, the rider is already center screen, often 2 inches away from the obstical they are about to clean, they pop their front wheel, and as they touchdown safe on the other side the shot ends.Boring to us!even worse for people who arent interested in trials. Lets throw in maybe a camera movement form 90 degrees to the action before the trials starts, or maybe a close up of a detail on their bike then pulling back to reveal the big picture, then the trials starts, or maybe after they have cleaned the object, a quick look to the old guy watching from over the road to see his reaction, or maybe you could film from 3 streets away and ride toward rider so we can see whats going on in the distance but its not clear until we get close up. keep the audience entertained. Why has noone explored having more than one bike at a time in shot? maybe you could get rider 1 pull a sidehop onto a wall facing the camera, rider two enters the shot from the right, and manuals the wall exiting to the left with rider 1 in trackstand where he landed when he sidehopped, then rider one drops of the wall and exits the shot from where rider two had entered. And if you throw in an interesting camera angle, or artistic location, you then have yourselves 30 seconds of very watchable footage. You see? script your videos!! jesus that was a bit of a rant.... Just out of interest, who is at uni/college/school doing photography or film? Surley your teachers or lecturers explain the fundamentals behind shot construction?
  8. thanks guys thats worked fine! Be sure to check it out, its brand new and its up for sale on ebay. KMC Kool chain on ebay topic closed please
  9. thanks, not sure hats going to work though. the pins look too big at the ends to fit through the wholes. like they have been riveted. Ill give it a go after din dins
  10. Hi guys, i wonder if anyone can help. I have lost the metal plate that goes between the chain and the circlip. attachment shoes what i have. The metal plate fits second from the bottom. Does anyone: 1) have a spare, 2) have a link to the KMC website 3) know a bodge? cheers triple c
  11. Yeah i may stroll along. I think it may be my last game in the footie season that day... Ill decide nearer the time.
  12. i used to ride 3-5 hours every day. I used to work nights so i had all day to ride when i liked. And my own car to go to organised rides and comps. And i would be on here every other minute i wasnt riding, even at work. this is my first post in nearly two years. A couple of reasons for the demise. I got old. Im 23 now. When your out and about damaging street funiture and you 16-18 people just tell you to move on, but once you get to my age people start saying "you should know beter" or just call the police. And falling off hurts more now, and it takes much longer for injuries to heal - thats age unfortuntly. such is the demise of my trials riding ive even sold out to the whole new world of road racing, well triathlon actually but bit of road in there). And when i think back to when i used to take the pi** out of the roadies on their skinny wheels! Although trials is now a close second behind pubs, clubs, gf, work, football... i still think about it all the time, seeing lines id like to try or seeing people out on their bikes and wanting to join in. Im hoping to come along to some london rides this year, so i may see you around!!

    Snapped Ashton..

As the bb is still intact and therfore the chain still has tension you could use the back bit for some kinda of freak uni-cycling circus act..... ....if you wanted to that is :D show us the vids!!! (Y)

    Idea!

sounds like a great idea, but the problem i can see is that there isnt all that many 'tricks' as such that us trialsters can do. hop up/down, side hop hop accross 360 manual front hops... could get get very familiar very quickly. i like the idea of challenge pushing skills forward though. would be an idea to keep video file sizes down to minimum so everyone can access them.prime examples could be saved somewhere for learners.
