  1. Yea there are quite a few Canadians on this forum actually. I think most spend their time over at OTN, but you can find some lurking around here if you look hard enough In terms of web resources the best I can offer you is hbtrials.com, a great shop in Montreal. Montreal is a fantastic city, you made a great choice.
  2. That's a FANTASTIC concept. I hope everything works out with the manufacturer, good luck!
  3. Hey there, as the title suggests, I'm looking for opinions about the Echo TR brake. It hasn't been on the market for very long so I haven't heard much feedback about them. The reason I'm wondering about them is because I need to replace my leaky Magura HS33, and I'm able to get a TR for less than a new Magura. Specifically I'm hoping to hear about how the lever feels and whether or not it tends to leak. Thanks in advance.

    Awesome riding!
  5. Take a look around for plyometric exercises. Plyometric training is basically designed to make your muscles quicker, for explosive motions. Unfortunately it isn't designed for the specific muscle groups used by trials, but you can easily increase your vertical jump which can't hurt for trials
  6. My buddy has an Adamant A3 and the exact same thing happens (with a deng headset). It's pretty loud too, but it seems to function properly at least.
  7. This isn't necessarily true. The 32-bit version of XP is limited to under 4GB of RAM usage, but NBRCycles may be using a 64-bit version (which can address MUCH more memory). Either way, I would take a look at your memory usage in the task manager. You'll likely find that you're not using anywhere near all 8GB. That much memory for even a video editing application seems quite excessive. Damon, if you're using Windows XP, try the following. Start up your editing software and get it to the point where you notice the preview screen being jerky. Now open up the task manager (ctrl+alt+del), go to the Performance tab. Look at the number called "Physical Memory Total", we'll call this value X. Now look at "Commit Charge Total", we'll call this value Y. If Y > X, you need more RAM If X > Y, the problem is likely that your CPU or graphics card just can't handle the beating you're giving them
  8. It's absolutely a fair deal. I'm just surprised that, as Krisboats mentioned, anyone would be interested in using a super-duper high tech cleaner on their trials bike Judging by the response you're getting I guess I was wrong. Nevertheless, good on you for getting your company's name out there and good luck with the business!
  9. Sorry, I don't mean to offend you in any way, but doesn't a bit of water and a cloth work well enough?

    Website Basics

I've been playing around with some website stuff after taking a course on Internet Apps at University recently. I've been using Microsoft Sharepoint Designer, but to a limited extent. It's very nice to be able to use the "split" mode. As has already been said in this thread though, it's best if you can write the majority of the code yourself. The generated code can be pretty ugly, so once you get good at coding and want to change things around yourself, you'll find it very difficult to navigate through the generated code. As a relative beginner myself, I'm still looking for a tool that will really increase my ability to make a great-looking website. For now I have a found that, although it seems like a lot of work, the "do it (mostly) by hand" method really does seem better in the long run.

    Big Ride :)

That looked like a really fun ride, lots of creative stuff happening there. Not to take anything away from him - he was a great rider - but if I ever saw that guy riding in the full-body skin suit I wouldn't be able to stop laughing

    My First Real Tap

Nice up! It's not huge, but that ledge does take balls to do because of the drop on the other side. When you feel comfortable at that height there's a higher ledge close to there (also on the Ottawa U campus) that would be a natural progression for you.
  14. On a disk brake, you basically have a moving pad and a static pad. This "tweaking" that you speak of is likely caused by the static pad being too far away from the disk. You can use the pad adjusters to make sure that the static pad is very close or slightly touching the disk. This way when you pull the lever the "moving" pad won't have to push the disk very far across to make contact with the static pad. As for bedding it in, search this forum a bit - there's some great advice. The technique I like best is riding around with the brake on for a bit, then splash some clean water on the disk. Other than that, you're correct in thinking that it'll just take some time before you start to notice any hold.

Absolutely unreal riding. Very creative lines too!
  16. Anyone notice the guy in the background around 1:55? Easily the best reaction to trials ever.

Great video, I really enjoyed that.

    C++ Tutorials

I on the other hand would suggest you stick with C++ or Java. C# is a fine language but not nearly as widely used as C++, which is used in a very large portion of the current industrial code that exists today. Whichever you choose to pursue is just fine though, don't think that by choosing one programming language you'll be hopeless with everything else. The general data structures and control flow, once learned in one language are extremely easily transferred to another. In terms of C++ I've always found www.cprogramming.com a great reference. They have some tutorials there also, although I've never tried them so I can't comment on their quality. Have fun programming!
  19. This was one of the videos that first really got me into trials. I remember back then most if not all of the stuff in that video just blew my mind. I still enjoy watching it and I can't wait to see your new video.

    Is This Right?

Your technique seems fine. One suggestion I have is to get more parallel to the object you're going up. That is, get your rear wheel closer to it. Right now it looks like you're mainly using the pedal kick to propel you up onto the pallets which is fine, but as someone already mentioned when you go for higher objects you're likely going to start ramming your front wheel into it. Try getting as close to the object as you can while parallel to it and, as the name implies, hop sideways. Keep up the good work!
  21. Exactly. CNC'ing is just the name of the process used to cut the metal. For the sake of brake pads, I wouldn't worry much about whether it's CNC'ed or not.
  22. How much have you tensioned the chain? If it's really tight it will be difficult to move the cranks simply because the chain just doesn't want to move.
  23. I really liked the video man. Personally I think that showing the measurements of a few of the walls was really unnecessary. Don't get me wrong, I like to know how high I'm going too. If you're doing huge moves though (which you are) then your riding should speak for itself. I could see one measurement in the video of something you're really proud of being alright, but it kind of gets excessive. That's just my opinion though, great video overall!
