  1. Deore brake have always been very reasonably priced and performed very well. Didn't expect them to be good enough as a rear brake for trials to be honest.
  2. That's Dani's style, he's absolutely huge so it always looks like he's barely moving.
  3. How come is this thread still going Changed the frame to a "Pure SL" as Tarty call it.
  4. Some really great riding in there.
  5. Envious! Riding China is one of my biggest dreams. Really enjoyed the video.
  6. That's got to be the most ignorant statement posted on this forum in a long long time.
  7. My bad, could have worded that a bit better. While eco mentalists often get on my nerves talking about CO2 emmisions and global warming, I meant this specific example (oil sands). There is merit in protesting about the damage this is doing to the local ecosystem but honestly, protesting about that is about as pointless as trying to get every single non-electric car off the road to reduce emissions - it's just not going to happen.
  8. I can't see extracting oil from sand f**king up the world? It's just turning a small area of it into what seems like a wasteland.
  9. The main reason why oil is being extracted from sands is the current price of oil. Unless something has changed, the cost of extracting 1 barell of oil from the sands in Canada is between 25 and 30USD. 12 years ago that was the cost of 1 barell of oil, pretty sure it's now well over a 100, haven't checked in a long time. So it's very profitable to dig up the sands. I get slightly pissed off at all this eco talk. We pay for oil in every item we purchase - be it bread, electronic equipment or furniture. All the goods have to be transported and most transport involves the use of oil in one way or another. So unless you grow your own food and live in a bush, you have no right to complain about companies extracting oil at a high cost to the ecosystem. Essentially, you're generating demand for oil with almost every purchase you make.
  10. So in short the material is too squeezeable? You'd probably have to use a metal bush in the centre?
  11. Yes! Fantastic riding there. Although I always feel tense watching your vids, you seem to choose obstacles which require huge amounts of precision and can result in a serious stack if you get it wrong. Needless to say you appear to be getting it right most of the time
  12. I had a 180mm on a stock and that wasn't powerful enough as a BB5 (my benchmark for all brakes) but it was good none the less. 160mm on a mod though is bang on, the lever is very firm, the brake has quite a bit of modulation and a lot of locking power. There's play on the pads which makes a clicking noise but you get the same problem with Hopes. Looks like it's inevitible. If sealing isn't an issue (haven't had a problem yet being an Echo dealer) then they could be pretty good competition for the Hope brake. Echo's are a pain to set up though since they don't have self adjusting pads / open system.
  13. I was never a fan of his riding. Always found it impressive but it didn't do it for me. This is different, absolutely stunning creativity in that vid. And I love the completely random stuff like that guy with the shoe or the superfreighter being "chased" by what looks like a paddleboat
  14. Randomly stumbled upon this, like:
  15. Happened to me on a few occasions, it is quite strange!
  16. Haha that is a pretty good line I've had at least two dreams in the last week involving my ex with who I broke up with 2 years ago. Funny how I should still have strong memories of that relationship.
  17. Just been looking through some of the more expensive parts on CRC, that's a level of workmanship you just don't get and probably won't get from trials parts
  18. That's exactly the face I must have made upon entering this thread
  19. So do you print this and attach it to your bike using duct tape? Also how much grams is 1 kilobyte?
  20. Can't disagree with that but I got the impression from the topic starter that he's asking about riding trials in general, not a more hardcore approach you pointed out. Riding trials is going to make you stronger - mainly the upper body - but at a slow-ish rate. Although I wouldn't agree with ma being just cardio/stamina (although it is to a large extent). I've gained a *lot* of strength and explosiveness from that sport which has started to show in my riding. Much more so than from just riding trials. But then that may vary depending on the individual.
  21. In the 10 years of riding trials I've never been so tired as during any MA class. And in my opinion the reason is simple - like I pointed out prevoiusly - if you were so tired, you'd be unable to get up anything which is the whole point of trials. The margin of energy you need to have when riding trials is much bigger.
  22. Wouldn't call it a proper workout. Personally i find martial arts to be many times better at this than trials for a simple reason - at such a class you're working out until you're completely wet and have no energy left. With trials this is not really possible because you need quite a lot of strength to perform various moves. This in term means that before you're out of energy, you'll stop riding because it'll just become frustrating and impossible. So no, I wouldn't class trials as a workout.
  23. Try a higher stem, 150x30 or something, I can almost guarantee you'll prefer it. Especially with those bars which have pretty awful geometry.
  24. AND you can watch your favorite trials videos at the same time!
  25. You mean TR right? SL's are titanium.
