  1. If purchasing these freewheels causes so much trouble for the buyer then surely it would be better if they were bedded in at the factory? Then there would be no problems and no such stories which are bound to hurt sales. Besides, if it's the bearing grease thats causing this issue then why on earth didn't they seal them properly form the inside and have them expell grease outside the freewheel?
  2. I'm going to quietly assess this thread and maybe post something later.
  3. I've got similar experiences. The bite and hold decrease. Probably because I'm rubbish at grinding rims. I don't ride in the wet anyway so smooth rim + a bit of tar and you have a brake that will never go wrong unless you get but a drop of water on the surface. Back in the days when I could be bothered to ride in the wet, a light grind + the old Coustsinks was more than enough to keep the brake honking even in deep puddles.
  4. I don't feel the need to change my tactics. Aside from it usually taking ages for me to find someone I like, they've worked so far. Besides, I don't know of a way of forcefully inducing emotions towards another person.
  5. For me the game basically consists of a combination of flirting and chasing with a number of other behaviours (usually planned with much consideration to achieve a desired effect). It's fun and it keeps one on one's toes. Personally I need this on top of interesting conversations, humour and other key elements you've mentioned in order to fall in love. Otherwise it just ends with a long lasting friendship where you appreciate the other person, but don't really feel a strong emotional bond with them. The amount of female friends I have because of the "game" not going as planned is, well, substantial. My two most meaningful relationships started with us toying each other for almost a year. The longer this lasted, the more I wanted to be with the other person. In both these relationships the game deteriorated over time once we were already in a relationship because we didn't need it anymore. With another girl who's now my best friend, the chase finished suddenly and as a result our relationship fell apart around 1 month after it had properly started. Clearly we were both more interested in getting together than being together. As for the analogy, I honestly have no idea. I definitely had the frying pan in my head, it was covered in burned bacon.
  6. Love that. Wouldn't personally go with double disc due to pad and spoke wobble but it's a pleasure to look at such a build. Are the Trial tyres officially in production now?
  7. Since I'm going over to FFW and that means a completely new rear wheel, I've asked my friend to make one last modification to the rim. This is the result: We're both pretty sure that this will not last at all but it doesn't have to. Will probably only ride this wheel once on my trials bike, then it's going to go on an urban bike. Got some 2.0/1.5/2.0 spokes too so it should be pretty light. Off to build it up.
  8. I'm pretty sure that the reliability of a freewheel stems from such factors as the build quality, material quality and tolerances, not the fact that something is simply different. I'd love to see it work properly because it's a very interesting product but only time will tell if it's worth anything.
  9. That kinda rolling sidehop at 1:05 was properly cool. Need to try it.
  10. Well yes, the game is very important because that's where emotions and a bond start growing from. You say you have no interest in the game, but surely there is one before any relationship? It's how it's played that finally brings two people together. You don't sit around thinking "yeah, I was going to go to the dentist today but I'll fall in love with that girl instead and then go clean the frying pan which has been in the sink for the last 3 days".
  11. Pretty sure the black Hopes (2006) used to be around 2-2,5 mm.
  12. That was my initial thought. If he can't report this to the authorities because they disbelief him then he's got to collect some evidence beforehand. Trials Forum - helping you fix fibreglass bathtubs and contain domestic violence since 2002.
  13. Some people are very nostalgic about the past. I for one love a 14kbps fax-modem simulation.
  14. Why the f**k would you feel the need to quote all those pics again? Bike looks great, one of the nicest Gu Le builds I've seen
  15. If you lot used double rim brakes with soft pads on a grind, you'd know that riding down hills is for the lazy and rich. If you're a man, you walk down hills.
  16. Pics of the Echo TR disc brake on the Echo website. 2 weeks ago it was said that the brakes will be available in a couple of months and that they are only sold with complete bikes at this moment. Anyway, it's a closed system which could be pretty interesting.
  17. The rim and spokes act a bit like a membrane of a speaker making the hub louder and generally altering the noise. The tyre dampens the noise. So if you're sure nothing has changed in the hub, that might be the answer. Although I'd be very surprised for there to be such a big difference between differnt builds. Kings will generally be quiteter if the ring drive spline on the hub is well lubricated and the rings themselves have lubricant on them.
  18. If you're buying bike bits, I hope you've considered the 48.5% import tax? Just making sure you know, you're trying to save a few quid but will be charged many times more once this reaches the customs office.
  19. See if he got the new Rockman frame, his parents would never notice.
  20. Did you not receive a users manual with the brake?
  21. Well if it's as good as the normal Rockman freewheels then perhaps it should be delivered with a warning note saying "do not mount on bicycle". edit: on the other hand, I wonder what it would feel like if a freewheel like this skipped during a gap.
  22. Topic explains itself really. I'd get the Hex but it's got no disc mount. Also anyone tried one of these frames with a sus fork of around 80mm travel?
  23. This. If you're stubborn you can still ride 18:15 on a normal chain but the hub rests on the very edge of the dropouts. Still in full contact, but looks dodgy. 18:16 is a bit better.
