  1. I used to ride with other riders but now I only ride alone. A few days ago I went out with a mate at 6am (well, let's just say it's 35 degrees during the day over here) and found it more than annoying. We were just talking all the time. I can't ride on and off, if I go out I have to get into a rhythm and ride non stop for an hour or two. This allows me to do as many moves on a spot as I want and move on when I'm bored. However, I don't like riding alone because I'm a kind of guy who doesn't like to attract attention. When you're in a group you don't seem to care but if you're just there on your own things are different. That's why I usually ride in big parks. Never go out into the city alone. I'm too self conscious and will only do the moves I have a 100% success rate at - which means no progress, no pushing yourself.
  2. The Try-All is a Hope brake. I'd get a Hope if you want to spec your bike up or a BB5 if you're just looking for reliable and powerful braking.
  3. Back in the old days when HD was a novelty I found that an Athlon X2 6000+ CPU and 2 gigs of ram was the minimum to achieve a smooth editing environment. Rendering still took ages on that though. Graphic cards do not help with video editing. Well, some do but you need a special card with special software to make use of that. It's called CUDA in case you want to look it up. I've been using this for a while now and the upshot of it is that it doesn't work anyway. You need a good CPU and lots of memory. I'm currently at 8gb and with larger vids, Premiere can take up even 5gb of that memory.
  4. It's not an 07-09. Depending on the bb rise it will either be an '06 or an '05.
  5. That's because it wasn't screwed down properly yet. You need to do a few powerful pedal kicks before the threads are nice and tight. Just pedaling along won't get the freewheel tight. As for the other issue I wouldn't worry.
  6. Yep, you need Trialtech foam grips.
  7. Well yeah, but everybody who's been on here for a while knows that. It's just the newer members who don't have a clue.
  8. Do you have a bashring? If so, are you sure you installed it the right way round? This happened to a customer of mine, the upshot of it is that his SL freewheel broke into 3 pieces after a few weeks of riding.
  9. Fine, I've been running these for over 4 years now. The gear ratio is 17:16 so that makes up for their shortness.
  10. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes.
  11. Yep, to a Slate or something. I hate tensioners with a passion. Never ran them, always had the luck of running the right gear ratio on vertical dropouts. It's fine as it is though, won't be changing anything for now.
  12. Now come on, you're the last person who should complain about something like that. Vid was poor, riding was immense.

    Gu Sl

Just installed a few new bits onto the GU. Frame is a BB40 and honestly out of all the Deng frames ever made this is my all time favorite. The geometry is bang on, the frame is very well made, stiff and tough. As for the brakes I haven't tested them properly but they feel completely different to any other brake I've ridden. The levers are tiny but the mechanical advantage must be greater than in Maguras because they flex the frame much more easily. Need to shorten the hose Weight is 8.76kg, not bad for such a heavy frame and rear wheel. Also put away some other goodies, not yet sure if I'm going to use them. Would probably need to change the frame to a horizontal dropout one because I'd need a tensioner with 18:16 gearing on the GU
  14. To put it short - they're rubbish.
  15. When I spread anything on bread it has to be 100% smooth and cover the whole surface right to the edges. That's mainly why I don't use butter on toast, it's impossible to spread evenly. The only exception is Marmite which seems to taste better with butter and when everything is spread carelessly. Also air vents in the car - all need to be at the same angle. edit: oh and doors to my room have to be closed at all times.
  16. We Europeans are lead to believe that Siberia consists of snow. There is clearly organic life in that video. Are you sure that's Siberia?
  17. The car always looses in their challenges. Therefore how about a challenge where the car races the trials rider up a 3ft wall? The car will just crash into it. It's so simple!
  18. It depends on the tar. Some kinds will be brittle and hard making it difficult to apply and not improving brake performance. Other kinds are softer, very sticky and will last ages. I'd say you just need to find another kind. Some say that the best tar can be found on the roof of Monty's warehouse in Spain.
  19. And speed. You also need to preserve your momentum so don't be too stiff once you hook or you'll loose all speed. I'm not too good at them myself but sometimes when I try to stick to those rules they come out really nicely.

    Tf Nostalgia

The ask an american anything thread by Andy T. Rowans vid which was the first to hit a few million views and over 20,000 replies. Picture war thread, untill it got all boring and not cool anymore. The Circus sort of, but I was never personally a fan.
  21. It removes virtually all lubrication.
  22. If they did, you'd no longer have your front teeth. Fact. DO NOT under any circumstances spray GT85 or WD40 into a freewheel, you'll f**k it up completely.
  23. I can see the point of this if your bike already weighs 8kgs but that was just a waste of time and pedals.
  24. Loved the whole vid. It shows the fun of trials, of messing around when the weather is right just enjoying oneself. Riding was very good too.
