Chaps, I'm in the process of making a list of parts for my 26" road bike (mtb frame, 26" wheels with slicks, single speed) and I'm wondering what the gear ratio should be? I'll be using a Rockman freewheel on an Echo hub so 18T it is, what about the chainring? Do you recommend any specific cranks with a single chainring? Don't want to spend too much, needs to be fairly light. oh and it'd be good if they came in this funny system where the bb is integrated with the right crank

Dude the best thing you can do is be there for her. Who knows what the problem is, it could be something pretty serious. I wouldn't press to hard on her telling you what's going on. Tell her that you want to be supportive and it might help both of you if she opened up a bit. Perhaps starting a supportive monologue about what you think might be the problem could get her to correct you and spill the beans?

What's up with those guys riding old trials bikes? It kinda looks like the comps that took place 20 years ago, sections are similar to the ones used in the past too.

If I had my house there, all my mates and the things I've got used to, then possibly Oz. If the climate was bearable perhaps some scandinavian country. Though I'm very happy with where I live now.

Didn't read those fascinating posts. It seems that the whole bike market is completely wrong. Gearing defines what you do on a bike! There's a bike which consists of standarized wheels and tubing inbetween and a trials/bmx/downhill kit which comes with a front and rear sprocket. Come on how stupid is that. Would you walk up to a downhill rider and tell him "the only thing limiting you from riding trials on your bike is the gear ratio"? He'd suspension fork you in the face.

Never rode completely brakeless but had a day of natural riding without a front brake. My god that was fun

Was your brake leaking and did you use the TPA? If I were you, I'd completely undo the TPA and give the brake a full re-bleed.
